~On Deck.
"To port! To port!" Bellowed the man, a massive serpentine creature arising from the sea. Massive waves merged with each other periodically, the constructive interference creating swells that nearly engulfed the boat. A loud hissing sound began to emerge from deep within the throat of the slithering demon, a thunderous roar soon afterward heard.
~Within the Captain's Quarters.
"Hm?"
The small girl wobbled past the desk, dropping her blue teddy bear. It fell calmly onto a small pile of four or five fish plushies. She tiredly rubbed her eyes as she continued to journey to the stairs, staggering greatly as she heard the roar of the beast. He could, however, do nothing, and the roiling water between them made sure that fact would never change. As the child watched her father cry out his apologies, she froze in fear, the head of the beast rearing up behind him.
That was the last she saw of her father.

She had been floating for hours, it seemed. Whatever harsh leviathan claimed the life of her father had been gone for some time now, and the waters were calm, though her muscles still stiffened by shock and the cold night air. The ship was made of steel and other metals, so all she could find to escape the threat of submersion was the snapped top of the desk. Tears streamed down her face, and her amber eyes were stained with fear and worry. Unfortunately, a whirlpool was visible to her, and there was no possible way of escaping it. She braced for her demise, launched downwards into the spiraling vortex. She was slammed into a rock on the ocean floor, which shattered. She grabbed part of it, in an attempt to bring a tranquil, still end to her life. Without warning, she was pushed upwards, soon realizing the sea floor beneath her was moving. She emerged from the turbulent waters, gasping for air. She felt as if she were on a moving island, and entered a deep slumber…

Hikaru awoke, feeling the cold sting of metal on her skin. She looked around, discovering she was being monitored for some reason. The wires must have been some sort of life support system, she assumed, lifting her head. She couldn’t see anyone else, and decided it would be best if she went to sleep.
Hikaru once again opened her eyes, finding herself to be off of life support. Fragments of code were being displayed on a large screen in front of her, and what seemed to be a deck of cards were beneath the screen. A man, of middle age, it seemed, greeted her with a warm smile.
“So, you must be the girl that discovered this!” he smiled, lifting the child off her knees.
“Yes, it is,” replied another man, apparently the assistant of the older gentleman.
“What is your name?”
“H-hikaru.”
“Hikaru, is it? Well, Hikaru, I am Professor Ishikawa. Do you have any idea what you did?”
“No…”
“Well, take these cards,” said Professor Ishikawa, handing Hikaru a deck of cards, “And you will find out.”
