Chapter 9-

Each person goes their separate ways as the evening drawls on. Most go of to eat, but a few decide to go off and explore the place by themselves. One of them was Grim, who went out the back door and found that, although being in a city, it lead to a medium size meadow and a forest past that. After a few minutes Grim returns with a rabbit in hand.
“This looks like it’d taste good.” Grim yanks a single knife out from his back pocket and raises it above his head.
“Don’t kill the rabbit!” Grim was caught off guard and looked up to see Christina on the lowest branch in the tree near him. Christina’s red hair was in two pigtails and she had a couple birds perched on her shoulder. Cody joined the group and saw Grim holding the defenseless hare.
“Treat all animals nicely, man. Don’t cook her.”
“Fine . . . I won’t kill the rabbit,” Grim lets the rabbit go. The hare quietly looks at Christina and Cody as if to thank them and then dashes off, “Now I got to find something else to eat.”
Cali had finished her meal by now and had gone outside to see the night sky. She lied on the ground and watched the stars sparkle in the clear night air. She took a deep breath and sighed as the cool breeze blew her hair to the side. A rabbit hopped out of the bush and stopped in front of her. Cali got up and saw Christina, Cody and Grim standing in the middle of a meadow.
Cali over hears the last part of the conversation, shrugs her shoulder and walks over to the small group, “There is a river over there if you want to go fishing.”
Cali points to the distance in the direction she came from. The rest looked in that direction and Grim got a smile on his face; he enjoyed fishing and wouldn’t mind doing some before Jackie finally told them what they were doing here.
“Works for me, anyone else want some fish?”
“I can cook pretty well. If you want I’ll cook them.”
“Ok Cody, I catch and you cook. Sounds like a good deal.”
“I’ll get the things read while you catch the fish.” Grim nods his head and heads off to the river. In a few minutes he returns with a bag full of fish, all squirming and wiggling to get out of the bag. He looks around and doesn’t see Cody, “Where is Cody? He was going to cook these.”
“I don’t really know he was there a minute ago.” Cali and Christina looks around to try and spot Cody. Deciding Cody must have went off to gather fire wood so he decided to continue his job and clean the fish. He finds a secluded spot and begins stripping the scales off. He soon stops and hears Cody shouting and finds where Cody had gone to.
“Hey Cody, what are you yelling for?”
“Oh, I’m sorry Grim. I was just getting frustrated trying to star the fire with my powers.”
“Ah, what are your powers?” Cody smiles and rubs his hands together, making sparks fly as he increases the speed.
“I can control electricity; maybe even lightning!”
“Is that it?”
“I think so. Wait! If I can control weather . . . then my father has to be Zeus!”
“I wouldn’t be too sure about it.” Cody never heard Grim warn him about the possibility of not being Zeus’ son.
“Hey! Didn’t you say you got the fish for me?” Grim nods his head and leads Cody back to the little gathering spot everyone had chosen. Cody puts enough fish on over the fire to feed everyone and then wrapped the rest so they could use them later.
The fishes cook slowly as the smell becomes intoxicating. Everyone’s mouths water as the thought of getting to eat becomes ever greater. Finally dinner is finished and Cody passes the meal out.
“Delicious! You are an excellent cook.” Cody thanks Cali and gets up to take the fish inside.
“The fish are gone!” Everyone starts searching for the fish and some think of where it could have gone, “Who should we investigate first? I say we start with Tarr, she is becoming part bird and after all some birds like fish.”
Cody nods his head and asks Cali is she thought Tarr had done it. “If she did I’m not sure how she did it.”
The group’s discussion is interrupted when an older boy walks towards then with his knuckles being popped.
“Which one here is called Cody?”
“I-I am, sir . . .”
“Good. Now get ready to fight!” The man positioned himself in a fighting stance and began to bob up and down, waiting for Cody to do the same. Grim got in between the two and glared at the newcomer.
“Who are you!?”
“Ah . . . how rude of me,” the name stops moving and stands upright and looks at Grim, “My name is Aashar.”
“Ok. Now I have one more question for you Aashar. Why do you want to fight Cody?”
“I want to see who the better son is.”
Grim put his hand to his chin and thought about what was going on. He really didn’t know either of them and had nothing to lose. And it wasn’t like they were going to kill each other- was it? “Ok. Commence beating the crap out of Cody.”
“It’d be my honor.” Aashar popped his neck and knuckles as he slowly edged towards Cody, who was beginning to get weak in the knees. As Cody flinched before the first punch landed Cain appeared and stopped Aashar from landing the blow.
“Never thought that one of Zeus’ kids would be so violent”
“So you finally show up Cain. So how do you know these two’s parent is Zeus?” Grim eyes Cain carefully. To be honest he was impressed that Cain was able to catch Aashar’s punch from such a long distance away.
“Well to put it simple, Cody can use lightning and that only leaves Zeus as his potential father. Aashar said he wanted to prove he was the better son, meaning his father must also be Zeus.” Cody and Grim nodded as they listened to Cain explain his findings. It was plain and simple, yet for some reason they couldn’t see it.
“Hey Aashar! Instead of fight Cody first why don’t you fight me instead? Call it a ‘warm- up’,” Grim got ready and waited for Aashar to respond, “Well? How about it.”

Chapter 10-

Tarr opened the door to her room and walked inside and looked around. She was almost in a daze the room was so big, as if it was made for a giant instead of little old her.
“Wow! Nice and . . . ummm . . . roomy,” Tarr looked on the bed and noticed a bunch of what looked like gifts. She picked one up and read the tag ‘To; Tarr’, “I wonder why their being so nice?”
A yawn breaks free from Tarr as she stretches out and looks at the feathery bed. A sleepy smile spreads itself across her while she climbs into it, “Mhmmm . . . this bed feels good.”
The time slips by slowly as Tarr drifts in and out of consciousness. Her dreams are plagued by birds of all kinds as the swarm around her and peck at her face. Finally she stands up in bed with a scream. She is in a cold sweat, as she examines herself she notices more feathers have begun to form on her and even more had fallen off.
“Ah! Not again. I have to find someway to stop these things from growing,” Tarr examines the large feathers under her arms and notices it tickles when she runs her finger down it, “well . . . at least I know I’m in the right place, I guess.”
Tarr left the house and walked into the garden with the rest of the people who came from her school. They were in a circle around Cody and a new boy she had never seen before, “What is going on here?”
“So “brother” lets get this fight going,” Cody had not noticed Tarr yet and was still focused on fighting the new person claiming to be his step brother.
“Yes Cody, we shall.” Aashar thrusts his right arm forward and raised his other hand to his face. He moved his feet apart so he could get a better footing.
“So will we use our powers?”
“Naturally,” Aashar flashed away with lightning speed and punched Cody right in the stomach, “Come on Cody! Have you quite already!?”
“No! I haven’t!” Cody kicked Aashar in the chin and made him fly a few feet back before landing on the ground. Cody got up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, “How do you like that? I call it my lightning kick.”
As the battle between the two step brothers where just getting on their way Tarr finally got amongst the crowd and was able to be heard, “Hey! Is this really such a good idea? Do we really have to fight each other?”
“Enough Harpy!” Aashar appeared next to Tarr and kicked her violently in the stomach, using his electrical powers to shock her as he did so, “This is between me and him. Stay out of this!”
Tarr topples to the ground and gasps as all of the air escapes her lungs. Grim and Cali quickly drop to their knees and make sure Tarr isn’t to seriously injure. Once they have they help her back to her feet.
“Cody! Now you are dead, Lightning Strike!” Aashar leaps high into the air and lifts his hands above him. On his way down Aashar thrusts then down towards Cody. Lightning shoot from his hands at Cody and begins to blast all around him, thrusting rocks and dirt into the air. Cody shields his eyes with his arms and peers through them at Aashar, who is going to land close to him.
“That only strengthens my attack! Lightning Uppercut!” Aashar landed on the ground right as Cody launched his attack. In the split second it took Cody to close the gap Aashar was able to dodge it and kicked Cody square in the face.
“More power can kill you!”
“I will use all the strength I have gained in this attack. And I’ll finish you now- Lightning Storm!” Cody thrusts his arms at Aashar and a ball of static electricity begins to form in his hands. Finally he throws it in the air and lightning bolts begin to shoot out in random directions from it. Aashar gets hit with three bolts of pure electricity, but continues to walk forward.
“Ha! You think that hurts me?” Aashar continued to walk to Cody in the lightning storm and finally grabbed Cody by the throat, “Doesn’t work on me Cody.”
Cody, seeing most of his attacks do nothing to Aashar, decided to make a cheap shot. He kicked him in the lower regions hoping it will knock him back. Aasahra’s eyes grew wide with pain and he threw Cody to the floor. In a rage Aashar formed a fist and hit Cody in the face with all of his strength.
“Brother, its over. I must admit, it was nice testing my strength against yours.”
“Yeah, you won this round. But I’ll beat you next time.”
Cody got off the ground and both brothers shook hands to show there were no hard feelings.
“So Aasahr, you want to fight me?” Grim steps out of the group and looks boldly at Aashar.
“You want to fight me? Have you ever faced Cody before?”
“No I haven’t fought Cody. To be honest I just met him a while ago. But I think I can beat you Aasahr!”
“Okay. If you want to fight me Grim then let’s go!” Both got into their fighting stances and waited as the other made the first move. The intensity is so thick you could choke on it. Cody is the firs to break the silence, “This’ll be good.”
“Hey Grim, heads up!” Grim looks above him as Aasahr appears with lightning coursing through his hands and feet. Aasahr thrusts each fist and foot towards Grim with all high might, “This is going to hurt.”
Grim manages to dodge the most lethal of the strikes, before getting out of the attacks effective range. Once out of range Grim unbuttons his bag and throws knife after knife at Aasahr. As knifes flew at his face Aasahr dodged some, but was able to catch others. Infusing them lightning and sent them whistling back at Grim.
“Here! Catch!”
Knifes flew by Grim and stabbed him in the arms, shoulders, legs and chest. He wobbled as the pain seeped deep into his body. Aasahr landed on the ground and punched Grim in the head, sending him toppling to the floor.
“Wow that was fast!” Cali said in awe along with everyone else’s gasps of amazement.
Aasahr never missed a beat as he was soon on top of Grim and pounding his face with punch after brutal punch. After a bit of this Aasahr got up and did a back flip away from Grim. A ‘wow’ came from Christina as everyone continued to watch mesmerized by the fight. While in midair Aasahr called out his next move, the Lightning Strike. Before anyone realized what happened Aasahr was standing on top of Grim with one foot on his chest.
“What just happened?” Cali looks back and forth between everyone who was watching to see if they knew. However it was too fast for everyone else’s eyes too and no one had an answer. Aashar walks over to Grim and gives him some of his energy, which of course makes grim wake up and get up off the ground.
“Well you were good to fight. I’ll just leave it at that.”
“Whoa bro, that was just awesome. I didn’t even know people could move that fast!”
“That was quick. I never expected one of Zeus’ kids to be so ruthless in battle” Cain popped his head out of the tree he had been hiding in and looked down at everyone. He was honestly surprised at how quick Aashar had beaten Grim.
The group rushed Aasahr as he and Grim began to walk back towards them. Each one seemed to have a million questions of their own and couldn’t wait to spring them on him. Christina was the first to speak, “That was so cool!”
“Well thank you.”

Chapter 11-

As Cali watched the group bombard Aashar and Grim with questions she thought how nice it would be to test her own powers against someone. But against everyone else she felt as if she’d surely loose. Cali began to leave the group, but was stopped by Cameron, who had witnessed both fights.
“OK everybody! I see that you have been having a lot of fun as of lately. However we need to get you all to bed, because tomorrow comes the real deal.”
With that ominous bit of speech Cameron left the group to wonder and think about what he had said. Once out of sight everyone discussed amongst each other about what he had meant. Finally all the kids decided that they will confront Cameron about the meaning of what he said and head off to their rooms.

Aashar was the first to enter his room. He looked about at the decorations and found that it was nothing more than a run down hotel, why he had his hopes up he had no clue. As he walked around examining everything he saw that there was something shiny on his bed. Walking over towards it he saw that it was a pair of iron gauntlets with a yellow lightning bolt imprinted on it. Putting them on he found that they fit him perfectly, a sly smile on his face as he smashes them together.
The door opens up as Christina peers into the dim light room. After seeing that no one is inside she flicks on the light and walks into the room. The room is a beautiful room with pink walls and flowers all around. Looking on the bed she finds a small bracelet with four beads spaced evenly apart from one another. She picks it up and begins to examine the bracelet. It is made out of gold and has the design of a vine with leaves all around it. The gems are ruby, sapphire, emerald and a diamond. The gems sparkle in the light and Christina can’t help but run her finger over the smooth stones. As she presses down on the sapphire it sinks down into the gauntlet and the entire bracelet begins to glow in a silver whitish light. Finally a shield appears floating in midair before her, “Oh wow . . .”
Cali enters her new room and finds that is almost like a nature garden. In the very middle of her room is a salt water fountain and all of the walls are painted sea blue with white foaming waves. Along the way Jackie had given Cali a sword. Now she can finally examine the weapon. She takes out the sword and looks it over. The swords hilt is in the shape of a rolling wave and the handle is wrapped with green seaweed like cloth. She finally puts the sword on her nightstand and crawls into bed. A few moments later she is fast asleep.
Seth watched from a distance as the group discussed amongst each other. Soon after they left he came out of the shadows, “The real deal, Hu? It seems there is more going on than I thought.”
The light flicks on as Grim enters his dreary room. It is almost like an indoor forest with a glass ceiling so he could see the fool moon. He spots a note on the end of his bed. Being curious Grim picks the letter up:
To My Son,

What you hold in your hand is my gift to you. The bow was created out of sacred wood and the arrows blessed. This weapon will not fail you.

Artmeis
Grim rereads the note and lifts up the weapon his father had sent him. Examining the bow he could see Greek symbols etched into it with gold ink, making the dark red wood stand out nicely. He set it down and decided to get something to eat before bed. While walking he slams his door, waking Cali up in the room next to him. She stirs and then finally gets out of bed. Poking her head outside Cali looks around for someone and when she doesn’t spot anyone leaves the room. Not one step outside and she bumps into Cain.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going girl!” Cali gives him a glare that sends a chill down his spin. Before she can yell at him however her phone rings and she answers it, giving Cain enough time to make his escape.
“Hello? Ya, I’m fine- Yes . . . Don’t worry about me. It’s only for tonight . . . Yeah, ok- Bye.”
Cali hangs up her phone and finds that she accidentally walked into Grim’s room instead of her own. She motions to leave, but something on his bed stands out to her. She decides as long as she doesn’t break it she can at least look at whatever the object is. Standing over his bed she recognizes the distinct shape of a finely made bow and its quiver of arrows. Her mind then wanders to where grim could be.
“I think I’d rather sleep in a tree tonight.”
A puzzled look crosses Christina’s face as she looks over to Grim, “A tree? Why do you want to sleep in a tree?”
“Sleeping outside is more comfortable to me.”
“Ah, ok. I guess if it’s comfy to you-“
“I wouldn’t sleep outside tonight if I where you.” Aashar walked from behind the tree and smirked at Grim and Christina.
“And why not!?” Christina put her hands on her hips and scowled at Aashar waiting for an answer.
“It’s going to rain and reports are that it is going to be a bad thunder storm. But then again if you want to be outside then go ahead is what I say.”
“Well a little rain never hurt anyone. But then again the part about thunder and lightning might be bad,” Tarr walked out from the house and towards the group.
“Hey Tarr . . . does your parents know where you are?”
“Ah! Oh no! Cali mind if I use your phone?”
“Of course, sure, no problem.” Cali digs in her pockets and retrieves her mobile cell phone. She switches it on and tosses it too Tarr, who is barely able to catch it. The rain begins to sprinkle and Tarr looks up with an almost disgusted look.
“Oh man! I hate the rain. I’ll bring it right back!” Tarr waves as she heads back into the house. As Tarr walked down the hallways and to her room she saw Seth in the most irate temper. She closed the phone and walked into his room, “Hey Seth. You ok?”
“Yeah . . . fine.” She closed the door behind her and walked over to the bed and waited a moment to see if Seth would protest. When he made no motion she sat down next to him and looked over at him.
“Let me guess. Hmmm . . . you don’t fit in either, do you?”
“What do you mean by that? “
“What I mean is you aren’t the one who has wings growing out of your arms. Now do you? So what’s wrong?”
Seth looked to the right, making sure that Tarr couldn’t see his face and then didn’t answer. Tarr sternly looked at him and then said she wouldn’t leave until he got an answer from him. Seth lowered his head and gave her what she wanted, almost, “It’s complicated . . .”
“Oh come on! That’s not an answer! At least you don’t have a demon daddy or a demon mommy! Now it can’t be that bad, so spill it.”
“Well . . . you see . . .”

Chapter 12

As the storm rolls in closer Cali stumbles into Grim’s room by accident and flops on the bed. She then got up quickly and rubbed her nose. Something had poked it and a small drop of blood formed on the end, picking it up she saw it was a bow and a quiver of arrows.
Cali looked around and then saw that the window lead out to where Grim and the rest were. With a hop she got out off the bed and walked over to the closed window. When it finally opened up she looked down at Grim, “Hey Grim! I think you need to find a better place for this!”
Without thinking Cali tosses the bow and arrows out of the window to the oblivious people below. She then realizes her mistake and attempts to grabs them out of the air, causing her to loose her footing. Down below Aashar and the rest hadn’t noticed Cali or the sharp pointy objects headed their way via airmail.
“Yeah my dad raised me himself. Mom had run away when I was a baby and then Hera I guess kind of took up the position.”
“Wow,” was the only response from the crowd, mainly from Christina. As the group talked amongst themselves an arrow hits Grim dead in the shoulder.
“Ah! What the-!? Who throws an arrow!?” As Grim questioned everyone around him Cali lost the last bit of traction that was keeping her from falling off the edge. She fell off and landed on Grim, popping the arrow in his shoulder clear out with little blood being drawn.
“Hu . . . that’s pretty impressive. She got it out and you didn’t feel a thing,” Aashar noted when Grim pushed Cali off of him. Grim looks at his shoulder and sees that the arrow was removed cleanly and the barbs in it did little damage, he was fortunate this time around.
“Why’d you throw these out of the window Cali?”
“I’m sorry . . . I wasn’t thinking.” Cali looked down in embarrassment. As the awkward silence continued it was interrupted by the sound of an intercom’s Bing.
“Attention! Grim, Aashar, Tarr, Cali, Christina, Cody and Cain report to the front door immediately.”
Tarr had been in her room when the announcement went off. She thought to herself, “Ok . . . I guess this place doesn’t have a front office,” as she got off the bed and waved good-bye to Seth before closing the door.
“Hey Tarr,” Christina yelled as soon as she saw the feathered harpy walk out of the room. Tarr shrugged her shoulder and headed over to the group. Once the entire group had arrived at the front door they saw no one was there to greet them.
“So does anyone know why we’re here?” Tarr questioned out of curiosity.
“No. Do you?”
“I’m the one who asked. If I knew I wouldn’t be asking.” Tarr retorted, much to Christina’s saddened expression.
“Yeah true . . . what about you Cali?”
“I don’t know either.” As they waited at the front door the thought became they were called to discuss why and how being a demi-gods works. While everyone was waiting on the person who called them Cain spotted the group and walked towards them right as Jackie and Cameron came out of the front doors.
“Thank you all for coming,” Cameron thanks the group as he turns to Jackie, picking up from where he left off.
“You all have been gathered here to aid in something of monumental importance. You’ll be leaving tonight.”
Uneasy glances sweep across the gang as those words sink in. Something important, how where they supposed to help?
“Well . . . thank you for telling us, now what happens?”
The ground beneath them begins to shake and rumble with mysterious tremors. The ceiling above them crumbles and breaks away, revealing a clear open sky. The walls fall apart and reveal a meadow and river in the distance. Finally in a flash of blinding light everything disappears. Once the temporary blindness disperses the group finds they are alone in a field.

Chapter 13

As everyone lays on the ground with their eyes closed Cameron and Jackie’s voice calls out to them, “From here on everything is up to you. If you feel trapped remember, follow your heart.”
The sun light hitting his eyes causes Grim to sit upright on the ground and peer around at everyone else. Those who had been at the front door were present, but something was amiss. He couldn’t put his hand on it until he set his hand on the ground. Instead of a hard wood floor like he’d expected he felt the soft plush of grass. Looking down he then realized what was so out of place- where they where!

“What on Earth! Where are we?”
