It's not a bad thing.
All it does it cut the fat.
Seriously; Companies shouldn't hold back for people that just settle on the technology they have. If you can't keep up; your not meant to have it.
All i hear is "If technology can only achieve this, All will be better!"
And yet nobody is willing to sacrifice a third of there weekly salary for it.
It's pathetic and greedy.
But that's just me.

I see it as another way for the government to nickel and dime us, for those with rabbit ears anyways, to get a converter box or going to cabel.
And what of those in remote places? Who cant get these things but enjoy their morning news? what then?.... sorry i disagree....

Actually, some people get very low salaries. And if some of them are left behind, then who are you to (I assume this is what your saying, correct me if I'm wrong) say screw them?

Okay.
First; Icy blue.
Well; To be honest, I never thought about what you said the first time I posted, However, why would someone purposely live in a technology dry area; and still expect to acquire it? Simple. They don't. They live in those locations in order to work a specific job or lifestyle, one which they choose; advantage or disadvantage. Your implying were robots who live were we're stuck. Not true.
Also; In other remote countries; Like Africa, well, they've always been exempt from technological accessories, due to there poor state of welfare. Therefore, how would improvement destroy there current lifestyle? It all leads back to one thing.
It doesn't effect them in anyway, shape, or form, from what they were previously using. .
Second, RaceCar, People that get low salaries probably didn't exactly make the right descision during school, choose laziness as a response, and became expectant that a comfortable lifestyle would be the result.
Well; I'm not saying screw them exactly, but you were on the right track. I was simply saying screw them for expecting a company like sony to hold back for them to respond to modern technology. The stimuli is very simple, either Keep up, or don't, however, which ever option you choose, learn to not complain, since the choice originated with you.
Simple.

In england we are also switching and everybody agrees it is a good thing. Digi boxes cost about £10 and oaps get them for free it is a good thing
The government is giving out tickets for reduced price/free analog>digital converters. Therefore it helps the impoverished.
over here in the UK the same thing's happening. They're even thinking about a radio digital swichover. Each digital freeveiw box is around £15-£30 (in US dollars $30-$60ish) and a new digital radio is at least £30 ($60)
It's mad

Over here in Sweden we've already switched. Last year, if I'm not mistaken.
Old thread.
Not by much, though. ^_^.
And..
Digital conversion still remains a pain, but it's all in the name of progress.
O.o".
..Yeah.
The people in the middle of New York State still aren't going to be able to pick up the digital service. They sold the waves to Cell Phone companies, and now they are cutting people off from the media.
In the grand scheme, its not a big deal.
The whole upgrade thing seems like a good idea I mean if TV never upgraded we would still be watching black and white programs on a crappy TV (by today's standards). Whilst the change isn't nessicary it would be a welcome improvement in my eyes.
Who cares? It's just some ruddy television.

The government did nothing wrong. They sold the waves to the Cell phone Companies, who are going to use those waves for CELL PHONES. The Television companies were ok with it, even though they will not be able to reach the people who think they should be reached.
i think this is unfair.
people who don't have a converter box can't watch tv.
luckily i have cable.
they shouldnt've came up with this new law!
