Because 4Kids didn't want to dub Season 4 and/or that's just the result of their terrible editing.

Because in the dub it is the end, simple as that. They should have shifted it so 156 was the last, then people could have the what happened to the missing 'students' thing. (' ' coz Ry isn't a student)
And you expect 4Kids to make sense of the dub and make people happy?

Well I was expecting them to dub 156 too.

Very true. I mean S4 would have been a perfect ending if they had dubbed it as people like to see what happens after to the characters. 156 had a very this is the end feel (even tho when it originally aired everyone knew it would continue, but at time of announcing, it seemed final)
Well that's what you get for watching the dubs.
However, the actual Japanese Ending to the show was pretty horrible too.
If they cut off the whole Yugi duel and just had Judai leave. That would been a better ending for the Japanese.
As for 4Kids they probably don't encounter many endings.
i think it was because they were excited over 5d's. plus, the 4th season of gx was really dark. they would have had to drastically change that season so little kids could watch and understand it. apparently, playing a card game on high speed motorcycles is more appealing to those kids.

Actually the original age group for GX was Teenage, not children. Plus YGO aires in Japan at 6pm.
