The Good Old YCM Awards - Accepting name and other suggestions
*Thread in process of being updated*
Hello and welcome ladies and gentlemakers, Allow me to present the return of, if you'll pardon the pun... The "Good Old" YCM Awards
Introduction
To clarify, this is not a joke, nor is it a protest, nor intended to in any way belittle the "Midsummer/Midwinter YCM Awards" (hence I waited until they concluded), but rather, it is a genuine attempt by some of my fellow former YCM Awards Council members and myself to reignite the traditional ceremony. Think of it like two forum newspapers running in competition - which, I'll add, is not against the rules, before we are reported again. My reasoning behind this move is simple. The Midsummer YCM Awards are run by their Council as more serious, formal affair than what my colleagues, listed below, and I consider the idea of an awards system to be all about. Don't get me wrong, I find it good that the Midsummer Awards exist and hope they continue to exist, and I acknowledge their good work, even though I don't fully respect what they see as their "purpose." Therefore, it makes sense that a separate awards system be begun. This thread shall be the new home of the old Awards, a brief history of which is located below. YCM Awards history (Click to View) Team Productions
Aside from the regular ceremony, the Awards team runs another of other events and competitions. They are listed below: Membership Battle Royale After auditioning, 15 members are selected to compete in one of the most extreme and elongated Card Contests ever! Judged by the Awards' Assistants, it's sure to be fantastic. Ceremonial Information
Here, the most recent awards recipients, as well as all past ceremonies (in spoilers) can be found, as well as other general information about the ceremonial side of the Awards (in other words, the actual event, as opposed to the planning and management of that event). Next scheduled Awards: TBD Awards Staff
Key: Members in bold are currently part of the team; members in italics are inactive; members that are The Council: Advanced Raver Azuh Careless Whisper Frunk Static .Traveler Our highly-valued Assistants: Adama. Kagamine Len † Neon † Pikachu Rinne Yuyuko Saigyouji Honorary positions: BehindTheMask - "Spiritual Advisor" Awards Format/System - First and foremost, these awards will be intended solely and exclusively for enjoyment. The Council acknowledges and respects the fact that many members use such awards to "honour their friends," and why not? While there will be some things we won't accept, we'll be sure to thoroughly outline them when the time comes. - The Awards, like old times, shall be a monthly affair. It has always been my opinion that anything longer means that some people will miss out or not be honoured when they should be, and anything shorter is just plain ridiculous. A month allows for the perfect amount of time to "recover" from all the Awards and start over. - Unlike the original Awards, there will be no confusing process to voting and nominating, as they will be the same thing. You will be able to "nominate" any one for any award right up to the end of the 7 days of the awards. Remember: here, nominate and vote mean the same. - What's the point of awards if you don't have rewards? The reason the original monthly YCM Awards fell apart was probably because no one could care less. Aside from each winner being honoured by simply being named such, they will also receive some form of basic reward, probably a positive reputation, at the end of the Awards for each award they win. - As the Awards are a people's choice awards, doesn't it make sense that the people should be involved in the shaping of them? Members shall be frequently asked their opinion on the running of the Awards, and encouraged to suggest any ideas they have for the Council's deliberation. - Like old times, the winners and other information of Awards ceremonies will be masterly archived for all you history-loving YCMers, like me, out there. Other things, such as what awards we will be featuring, shall be decided and released soon. Job Application information, now redundant (Click to View) Questions, Comments and, most importantly, Suggestions I imagine many of you are already dying for the ball to get rolling, so feel free to help the process along. While I've deliberately not told you everything I'm planning and expecting to be part of the Awards just in case it does change, feel free to ask about any aspects of the finished product you want. The Council is also interested in any general comments you have, just as long as they're not brazen. Suggestions are also greatly desired, and the sooner you get them in, the better! Cheers and thanks for reading, Frunk. Note: The name "Good Old YCM Awards," along with many of the aspects above, has not been approved by any councillors other than myself, and is therefore not set in stone and is not guaranteed. In particular, that title is in reference of the constant discussion of the "Good Old Days of YCM," which many argue to be around the time of the original awards inception. Trolling or spamming of this thread, or any associated threads, will be frowned upon. Thread Archive (Click to View) NOTE: This post has been reported, and is awaiting moderator review |

As soon as Azuh and Static give me word, I'll let you know whether you're going to be in. @ Neon: I intend to give those who win awards some sort of prize, and I very much like the idea of it being graphic design signature/banners (as that would help in the promotion of the awards around the forum). I haven't finalised anything, so I'll be keeping your offer very much in mind! As for Sartorism, it is the term primarily used to describe a number events and discussions, usually heated, that occurred from mid-August, '07, to early September, '07 (though the fall-out or aftermath of it continued on towards the end of October '07) that had a major effect on the forum. As part of the Chronicle (which can be found by clicking the big "Johanderwho?" link in my signature, I'll be posting a chapter on it, which is already 2,200 words long, by the end of the month (I've got exams at school right now which is why it's not done already). In the mean time, you might be interested in the two chapters already posted. @ Killertrey: Where I said "whether you would like to receive a reward (and if yes, what?)", I wasn't referring to awards, as they will always be decided through voting. What I was referring to was other rewards, for example, perhaps "Reps" or Points - that said, if you want something else, feel free to ask. |

- which of the above you wish to be: Councilor (Will also be assistant or Rewards Team member.) =]
- whether you would like to receive a reward (and if yes, what?): Nah. I really don't care for reps or points. =] - why you think you should be accepted: I can be mature when I want to be, I don't spam or troll (much. xD), I try to use mah grammar skillz, I don't mess around if I have a job to do, and I can keep the masses calm and organized. xD Most of this is up to you to decide, though. I try not to let mah ego show. - any credentials/skills you have that you think would come in handy: Making actual trophies or something to put in the winners signature. I can be handy with Photoshop at times. I also like to read, and can definitely read over the many nominations you'll probably receive. - any additional comments: Nope. I just thought I'd throw myself out for the job. =P |

RE: The Good Old YCM Awards - Currently recruiting
1) I would like to be a councilor. (An assistant or promoter is good too.)
2) No, a reward is not in order. However, if I'm forced, I'll accept. ;D 3) I've been one of the most active members since my registration in February of 2008, and although that hasn't reflected in my posts, it has in the quality of my work and projects. I also think I know the members around here well enough to know who deserves any special recognition, and I'm fair when it comes to judging (as can be seen in some of my old contests.) 4) I'm an excellent writer if I say so myself, but I don't know how this would apply. (Maybe typing something about each recipient. 5) Good luck to all members, and may the best be recognized. ;D |

RE: The Good Old YCM Awards - Currently recruiting
To apply, reply to this thread stating: - which of the above you wish to be. Councillor, and if not, then Assistant will do just nicely. - whether you would like to receive a reward (and if yes, what?). Yes. I would rather much enjoy in receiving your and the other staff members recognition and gratitude for working alongside you. Nothing could be more of a reward than the start of a good partnership and friendship. - why you think you should be accepted. I try to avoid taking my opinions to a bias view as much as I can. I've been on other forums with similiar events such as this one, i'm not exactly the typical new member that signs up to this forum. I'm very well organized, patient, and civil as you suggested a councillor should be. I'm sure I can be very helpful in submitting my own input on the development of this project, including offering suggestions and help decide on tough decisions. - any credentials/skills you have that you think would come in handy. I'm very nifty in the Photo Editing Program Gimp. I know html and some Advanced, some CSS, xhtml, and some other Scripting languages. - any additional comments. I feel I did rather well in the YCM Midsummer Awards as I was/am on the council and managed to count all of the votes by myself in one night, performance of which was commented on by Opalmoon and Cyber Altair. |

-which of the above id like to be: councillor
-would you like a reward [if yes, what]: no reward please, i work for free -why do you think you should be accepted: because i trie to the best of my ability to be fair. i hardly am biased, when i am, its more along the lines of food. But anyway in all the clubs i been in, i trie to follow all the rules. -any creditials/skills that you think will come in handy: i always trie to help out, no matter how many times i fail to do it. i never give up in other words -any other comments: If im accepted, then you wont be disappointed, no matter what my computer problems are, i will always do my best to help out. |

- whether you would like to receive a reward (and if yes, what?). Nah. - why you think you should be accepted. Because I'm influential, active, and completely insane. - any credentials/skills you have that you think would come in handy. You can have credentials on the internet? Does my lack of a life, and therefore more free time than almost anyone on the forum count as something that would come in handy? - any additional comments. I like cupcakes. |

I said that the reasons for the locking of that thread were unknown because in the last post of that thread, made by me, I did not state I was locking the thread, nor, obviously, why. Of all the many acts of moderation I've done for this forum, there are many that I humanly cannot recall. It is quite possible, I'll add, that, among other possible occurrences, that thread was "necro-bumped" at some stage, the posts deleted by another moderator, and locked, for all I know. Therefore, I believe "reasons unknown" may stand. Applications (Click to View) Thanks to all of you who have applied so far for doing so. I'm overwhelmed by the response and it appears if I allow too many more, the decision will be very difficult indeed. Therefore, further applications must be in before 3 and a half hours is up! Then, the Council shall make its decisions. Good luck to all. Cheers, Reece. EDIT: I beleive everyone has had enough of an opportunity to apply and the Council has enough to work with, but incase we can't agree or still don't have enough, I'll be accepting back-applications until all 5 positions are filled. |

RE: The Good Old YCM Awards - Currently recruiting, 2 hours to go!
- which of the above you wish to be.
-Councilor. - whether you would like to receive a reward (and if yes, what?). -I'd prefer to offer any service I can voluntarily. - why you think you should be accepted. - A reasonable first impression of my application to council these awards would be my activeness, and/or prior 'leaving'* as being something that would conflict with my participation as a councilor. It is within certain boundary that I can say I do drift these boards rather commonly; despite how ill-frequent I happen to post. In parallel with that, I'd also put forward that unlike some, I seemingly possess relative amounts of common sense; as well as an approving view of most of the members on this site. Basically, I'm a nice, well-thought guy, to whom has conferred with the current council on prior occasions. Also, if it helps, I'm modest enough to voluntarily do this. (Ie. Without reward.) I adhere to being civil and composed during most circumstances, and if given the chance, I shall apply my utter-most "internet" attention to the development of the awards. - any credentials/skills you have that you think would come in handy. -Besides the quality of my home-computing system; my organized nature as well as my genuine work ethic should be more than advantageous for the running of the awards. Plus; I'm not actually submitting an application for any-sort of erroneous ego, either. - any additional comments. Not entirely. I believe I outlined my persona and aspiration rather concisely already. If anything, I'd just like to say whether a position is granted to me or not; it's cool to see you guys here again. =P. Especially you, Frunk. Mainly because I've never actually posted with you outside of Summa-crossroads. *- My 'leave' being a discontinuous-pledge to my frequent-visitation of the sitee. Just to clarify. |

RE: The Good Old YCM Awards - Considering applications, back-applications still open
Luckily, the 3.5 hour deadline I set up is still open for another 29 minutes, so my friend, you'll be considered as part of the first batch.
EDIT: To clarify, "reward" does not mean you get a "free awards", but rather, some sort of "payment" (like Reps, Points or whatever else you can think of) for your services. |
