btw. is is better to have BG-Color like the monster ? I mean yellow monster = yellow background ect. like Crimson Crisis has red/red ?

The colors you must use must blend and compliment with the monster, I mean if you use a Dragon colored RED, use colors complimenting to it like dark orange or RED

They're the same as .xcf files, just for Photoshop. Although you can open and edit them in GIMP, You can't edit the text, though
