The Taste of Vanilla: Normal Monster Sets
Now I'm sure you all are wondering. "How can Normal Monster Sets be creative? All they do is look pretty and have nice flavor text." But, you have a lot to play around with. You have a whole set, based around a story, rather than an effect type. The story, can be told through every card in this set. Such things happen with the Ojama, and Gagagigo and Kozaky TCG/OCG cards.

There are though, rather annoying things about this kind of set. Especially, if you want to make multiple monsters, it's key to have an Archetype. Which is basically, what comes before the name; Such as Elemental Heros or Morphtronics, they allow all sorts of cards to be linked to them without having to always put the card name in quotations, which in the end clutters your cards.

Another important factor is that, due to their nature of telling a story, picking images from a similar anime/cartoon/comic is always key, so you can add Spells and Trap cards to this story. This keeps the story of these monsters rather... Synergistic with the whole set, and may or may not help you know what you want to do in the long run. These images, and effects of the Spells, Traps and limited Effect Monsters will end up being plot points in this story of yours.

You may want to remember, that in order for a Normal Monster Set, Spell and Trap Cards have to be in abundance, and that it always focuses on this story. Just do your best not to force it, but keep a few cards flexible on other, or similar cards to make them better and faster. Keeping it singled out to this set itself will force the effect, and not be very creative overall. So be sure to pay attention to what you're making.

Part 1- Done
- Next part will include how to help flow, and structure.

Maybe this will encourage people to stop bashing on Vanillas and actually make them. Looks good. Cool

Telling a stroy through a set, ingenious Icy, just riveting. This very well might change the course of how people make cards on this site.

Keep up the great work.

I'm very anxious to see the new Vanilla Sets coming our way which, most likely, was inspired by this thread.

I was never a fan of YGO afraid to post Vanillas but whatever because I'm voiced by Dan Green!.

But I didn't noticed people have been saying things like "Don't use Vanillas", "Vanillas are bad", "Vanillas suck", etc. Yeah, this wouldn't really help ^_^......Or not.

This is sparta a crossing idiot really unhelpful abandoned place of madness ^_^.

RE: The Taste of Vanilla: Normal Monster Sets [Part 1 up]
I'm certain this will inspire confidence for members posting vanillas.

However, when posting single cards, I still think that effect monsters show more creativity as they can work with other cards based on what is said in their effect. Vanillas are truly single cards that tend to only fit into a viable strategy when included in a set.

...And I think this thread emphasizes the fact that vanillas can be made into creative sets, but my point is that as single cards, effect monsters are superior.

Nonetheless, it is a helpful thread and I like the idea of the story.

Finnaly someone that agrees with me! Normal Monsters, or in this case vannilas, I think should be in every deck. They can sometimes be good support. Like a Warrior-type vannila in a warrior-type deck. Its support and it sometimes can be used for fusions and other things.

Thats very, very, easily debatable.

And Icy, this should help cut down on the "VANILLAS SUCK. GTFO" comments. Nice show.
