[~ɸ~] Memories of a Life ~ <29/?> ~ (Last update, 10/03/10)
Welcome all.
Welcome to my combined 2 year and 5 star celebration thread.
This is the remake of the set that is most likely to be my most succesful one.
All the old cards from the previous version are here gone, and replaced with new and improved versions.
The deck features the game tech of Memory Zones. When you summon a Memory Requiem monster, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone to have it gain its best effect, allthough its Level becomes 0, and if all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly.
And if you wonder about the images used for the monsters, I made them myself.
So now, without further ado, the set:

Memory Requiem - Torment
*
DARK
Fiend / Effect
ATK 0 / DEF 0
This card cannot declare an attack. When this card is destroyed by battle or by an effect that targets a monster, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of this card. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, when you would take damage, that damage becomes 0 and this card gains an equal amount of ATK. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: This is the improved version of my previous card, Memory Requiem - Anguish, and I like the effect a lot more now. Now it's a little more playable, as it can't destroy itself or attack, and the damage-absorbing effect will come in really handy, and you will see that with the rest of the set. After playtesting with this card, I found that it actually is broken. It now is even less so, as it can be destroyed by Lightning Vortex and such.

Memory Requiem - Rage
******
DARK
Fiend / Effect
ATK 1700 / DEF 1100
f you control 1 or more monsters and 0 Levels, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. As long as this card is in a Memory Zone, monsters you control gains 500 ATK. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: Ah, here we find 2 ways to abuse its effect; either getting out a heavy-hitter in the first turn, or simply get a big Normal Summon while all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, which will in turn activate its ability to boost itself and your other monsters by 500. As you will see, the deck focuses heavily on damage, so this card is a welcome addition.

DARK

When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, your opponent cannot select another monster as an attack target. When this card is attacked, if you control 0 Levels, inflict 1000 damage to both players. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: I figured this card was a liability to the set, as it was too weak. Now, it is a lot more fun to play with; it can absorb any attack coming against your monsters, burning both players in the process (Which will boost the power of your Torment). A lot of times you will be happy to let this lady step in on attacks against a Torment setting up. Oh, this card and Pride = BFF. Additionally, I wanted to make this Level 1, so I tweaked its stats a bit.

Kindling of Memories
Normal Spell
You can only activate this card if you didn't Summon, Set or Activate a card this turn. Special Summon 1 "Memory Requiem" monster from your Deck, then take 500 damage for each card in your hand.
Author's notes: The first part of the card is just to assure that you will most of the time have lots of cards in your hand, so that you take lots of damage. That might sound odd, but if you fetch a Torment, it isn't at all. Say you activate this in your first turn, and get a Torment with 2500 ATK... Ouch. I also realize that Spell of Pain would be a staple with this set.

Memory End
Normal Spell
If you control 0 Levels, you can activate this card during your opponent's turn. Select 1 monster you control and inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then destroy the selected monster.
Author's notes: This card is meant to assure your victory, even when your opponent tries to mess with your strategy by removing your Torment from play or something along those lines, as you can activate this during their turn as well, as long as the total Levels of monsters you control is 0, as will be the case if all your monsters are in Memory Zones. The fact that makes differs this card from a Quick-Play Spell Card is its ability to be used directly from your hand, and its convenient power to not being relient to be set face-down to be activated during your opponent's turn. Just activate, select a powered-up Torment... boom!
I edited this card, as I thought it was still overpowered. I also did a little, yet important name change. You'll see why it's important with the cards bound to come.

Memory Force
Continuous Trap
While you control 2 or more "Memory Requiem" monsters, the effects of face-up cards your opponent controls are negated during your turn.
Author's notes: This card is mainly there for jamming your opponent's cards that try to meddle with your tactics during your turn. As some of the set's cards resolve on Battle Damage, as well as Effect Damage, you will be very happy to just jump right over Sakuretsu Armor and the like. This also negates the effects of monsters that could normally not be destroyed by battle, giving you the edge against most stall decks.

Memory Requiem - Astonishment
***
DARK
Fiend / Effect
ATK 1200 / 600
When you take damage, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. When this card is destroyed by a Card Effect, destroy 1 card on the field. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: Mainly meant for disrupting your opponent's defences against your memorial onslaught. I edited it, as it was too overpowered when it could just bust out and destroy whatever stands in my way. Now it has to be destroyed by a card effect to make it work, and as there will be more cards that need to destroy my Memory Requiems, I figured this one should join the fun.
MRLF-EN008
![[Image: 21e24ya.png]](http://i47.tinypic.com/21e24ya.png)
Memory Blade
Normal Trap
Activate only when an opponent attacks and you control 0 Levels. Destroy the attacking monster and place 1 "Memory Requiem" monster in your Graveyard on top of your Deck.
Author's notes: I like to have at least 1 attack-stopper in all of my sets, and this seemed like an interesting one. Its ways to use is pretty basic, as it simply destroys an attacking monster and places a used Requiem on the top of your Deck. I found that, as the previous version blasted yourself as well as your opponent, it wasn't much of a defense. At least not while you don't have Torment out.

Memory Requiem - Pride
**
DARK
Fiend / Effect
1200 / 800
When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. Other monsters in Memory Zones you control cannot be destroyed by battle or targeted by your opponent's card effects. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: BFF with Lust, this is mainly for stopping your opponent from messing with your Torment until it's ready to blow up, or any other Memory Requiem for that matter. This card also stops your opponent from attacking your monsters that might help you out with their abilities or burning your opponent, which is good, as most Memory Requiems are rather weak. On a side note, I'm very happy with the glow its picture has.

Memorial Reminescence
Normal Spell
You can only activate this card while you control 0 Levels. Draw 2 cards and take 1000 damage.
Author's notes: Wanderley made this awesome picture for me.
I figured this set needed some draw support so I made a powerful draw card. Incredibly powerful if you've got Torment out. It also ups the speed of your deck even when you haven't got Torment out, as you can then activate Astonishment's effect to incinerate a card on the field. Or use Spell of Pain to burn your opponent in the process. So yeah... I'm pretty happy with it.

Memory Sealing
Counter Trap
You can only activate this card if the total Levels of monsters you control is 0. Negate the activation and effect of a Spell or Trap card and destroy it, then take 700 damage.
Author's notes: Since this set is part lock-down, I figured I could need some Counter methods. Hence, this card was born. It is easily activated while you have Memory Zones, and it also works well with Torment, giving your Memory deck an edge in the long run. Imagine your opponent having 700 more Life Points than your Torment has ATK, and figures he could win if only he could destroy your Torment. He activates Lightning Vortex, expecting to blow it and all the other monsters you control and then this card dramatically pops up, negating its effect, increasing Torment's ATK by 700 and then Torment blows up with "Memory's End". >=D

Memory Requiem - Loathing
***
DARK
Fiend / Effect
1600 / 800
When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, when it inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, gain that much Life Points. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: Without Torment hanging around, you will lose quite a lot of damage in the long run, so this card is immensely needed if that be the case. With Rage out, a direct attack from this card will take a nasty dent out your opponent's total, and grant you 2100 extra points, seeing, of course that your opponent doesn't lower its ATK somehow, but if you have Pride out, that will be very hard. They might think, "Hey, I'll just use Burden of the Mighty". Forget it, as they have 0 Levels. >=D But now I'm getting off topic. So, all in all a very vice card for this set.
MRLF-EN013
![[Image: 2wn8xao.png]](http://i46.tinypic.com/2wn8xao.png)
Requiem of Life
Field Spell
Activate only when you control 0 Levels. When a monster is attacked, it loses 300 ATK and DEF at the beginning of the Damage Step. Damage both players take is increased by the total levels of monsters they control x 100. Monsters cannot be sent from the field to the Graveyard, except by the effects of a card their controller controls, Tribute Summoning or for a Synchro Summon.
Author's notes: I wanted to give this set an epic Field Spell, and to some extent, I would say I succeeded. The symbolism of this card is that if you dwell in the past and don't get over your memories, it will get you nowhere. So, until you're ready to let go of your painful memories, they will continue to strife and cause you pain. You, who are using Memory Requiems, show that you are in total command of them, and has learned to move on and leave your pain behind. This is shown with the combination of Memory Requiem - Torment with Memory's End. This card was actually broken, so I edited it to make Tribute and Synchro Summoning legal.

Residual Reflection
Quick-Play Spell
Remove 2 monsters in your Graveyard from play. All damage you take this turn is reduced to 0.
Author's notes: You might notice this card sais, Kazuki Takahashi, instead of Ursus. Well, that's because this card rightfully belong to him. I read the GX manga the other day, and found this card and thought, "Wow. I got to include that in my Memory Requiem deck. It's a perfect fit!" Which it is, as its name in the manga was Remnant Memory, but I decided to go for the translated name, or at least the name you will find it under at the wiki. I still had to change the image though. But, enough of that. The set is for the moment not meant for working with my monsters removed from play, but that is bound to come.

When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, when it inflicts 1500 or more Battle Damage to an opponent, you can add 1 "Memory" card from your Deck to your hand. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly.)
Author's notes: This card packs good support if I don't have any other way to get some Torment out. I edited this card to make it playable with the Field Spell. Now you just need to inflict enough damage to summon a combo piece, such as Lust or Torment, Or summon an Astonishment, awaiting some destruction when it goes. There are many choices with this, choose wisely.

Memory Beckoning
Normal Spell
Return 3 of your Removed from play "Memory Requiem" monsters to your Graveyard and draw 3 cards. After that, take 200 damage for each card in your Graveyard.
Author's notes: Designed to make the set work out well if your opponent removes them from play, this card also works well if you do, by the means of Allure of Darkness or such. This card also houses incredible drawing power, but is not overpowered, since no card in the set really focuses on removing them from play, so you have to use cards that are not from this set in order for it to work properly. I'm starting to get a feeling that this set would be extremely fast if it was to be released.

Memory Flashback
Special Summon 1 removed from play "Memory Requiem" monster. During the End Phase, you can take 1000 Damage and destroy the Special Summoned monster to add 1 "Memory" card from your Deck to your hand.
Author's notes: This card also works well with Allure, and provides excellent speed to the set. Besides that, it can provide it with a valuable Memory card from your Deck should you choose to activate its other effect. This was why I changed the name of the former "Memory's End" into "Memory End", so you can get one of your best win conditions free of charge. You can also inflict an easy 1000 damage if you Special Summon Torment with this effect, so yeah. This card is pretty good.

This card's Level is treated as 0 while it is on the field. When this card is Normal Summoned, if you control 0 Levels, you may destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. Once per turn, you can send 1 "Memory Requiem" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.
Author's notes: I got a message from kordoleski, who said that this set needed something that could protect me from attacks, or at least something along those lines, so this card came into my head. I really took the idea from the Fortune Ladies, that have a support monster that is not a Fortune Lady, and I am very happy with the result. The art used for this is made by Wanderley. I figured that the set had very little Spell/Trap removal, so this card is pretty good that way, since you get to destroy 1 Spell or Trap when it comes out. It also both thins the deck and allows for a quick summoning from the Graveyard with its other effect.

Memory Requiem - Terror

You can Normal Summon this card in face-up Defense Position. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While you control 0 Levels, once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Memory Requiem" monster from your Graveyard, except "Memory Requiem - Terror". (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: This card combos excellently with Avatar of Recognition, and also works well for bringing back Torment or anything else, for that matter. Another important thing with this is that it can be Summoned in Defense Position, meaning that it does not have to be Summoned in Attack Position to get a Memory Zone, since that would make it extremely underpowered. But now, the card allows the set to recycle its monsters fast. This card was op, as it could actually summon itself from the Graveyard. Not anymore.

Amnesia Wave Motion
Continuous Trap
Discard 1 card to activate this card. While you control 2 or more "Memory Requiem" monsters, when your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster whose Level is higher than the total Levels of monsters you control, you can destroy 1 monster you control to destroy the Summoned monster.
Author's notes: This card has a rather amusing story; I received a PM from kordoleski with a little advice, and I nearly laughed my head off for not thinking of something so obvious to include as "amnesia". Kordoleski wrote me his version of an Amnesia card, pointing out that I would need to do something about having only Memory Zones, as I take too much damage, but I must say that is not going to happen. This set is unique, and will work in a unique way. The only positive deal about Levels today are in what degree you can use them for a Synchro Summon, and to be honest, I don't like Synchro's that much. But, back to the card; this card works excellently for some extra removal, as you will most of the time have 2 or more Memory Requiems, and almost always 0 Levels, so you can easily snipe down whatever monster your opponents summons by sacrificing a Torment, the new version of Astonishment, to be easily brought back by Terror. Very, very nice.

When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, when it is destroyed, you can Special Summon up to 2 "Memory Requiem" monsters from your hand during your next Standby Phase. (A monster in a Memory Zone is Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: In fact the only Memory Requiem to keep its name, this card, which started out as a Level 4 Beatstick with 2300 ATK, now is a rather weak Level 5 monster, but with a rather powerful effect. This set has enough search and summoning possibilities that putting this card on the board should not be too much of a problem. You can now also destroy this card with cards such as Amnesia Wave Motion and Memory Flashback to Summon 2 monsters during the next turn. Nice.

Memory of Abolishment
Normal Spell
You can only activate this card while you control 0 Levels. Remove 1 "Memory Requiem" in your Graveyard from play to add 1 "Memory Requiem" monster from your Deck to your hand.
Author's notes: A very efficient searcher, this card is able to remove a MR in your Graveyard from play to search out the one you need the most. The removed monster is then easily called back by Memory Beckoning or Memory Flashback. In other words, it is an entry most welcome in this set. I also like the art on this.

Torment Bond
Normal Spell
When you activate this card, select 1 "Memory Requiem - Torment" you control. During this turn, the selected monster can attack, ignoring all Card Effects. Destroy it during the End Phase.
Author's notes: This card, needless to say, is a fine card to finish your opponent with if you have a monstrously big Torment going. This card will also allow the monster to evade any and all nasty effects that would prevent them from attack. (With the exception of thingies that destroys attacking monsters) But it will not allow you to devastate your opponent by destroying the Torment, as it does not target when it’s destroyed. All in all, good card with an awesome image.

Memory Genesis
Normal Trap
When this card is activated, destroy 1 Level 0 monster you control and remove this card from play. While this card is removed from play by its own effect, it gains the following effects: -- Any monster that is Summoned is Summoned in a Memory Zone. -- During your Standby Phase, take 500 damage. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly.)
Author's notes: This card is particularly nasty; it allows you to outright destroy a Torment, Despair or Astonishment for some other nasty business. But the main power of this card is its effect that forces any and all monsters to be Summoned in a Memory Zone, allowing you to smack your opponent directly. Its last effect also boosts a Torment each turn, which can lead to loads of trouble if you just biding your time for a Torment Bond-allowed direct attack from an enormous Torment.

This card can be Special Summoned from your hand by discarding 2 "Memory" cards. This card's ATK cannot decrease. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, all Battle Damage from battles involving this card is increased by 200 x the total Levels of monsters the defending player controls. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. If all monsters you control are in Memory Zones, your opponent can attack you directly)
Author's notes: Beware of this one! Able to inflict tons of damage, this card works best alongside Memory of Life, as it can be attacked as many times a player wants and it won't decrease in strength. It's incinerating touch is also amplified by Requiem of Life, as your opponent will wind up having many (And presumably) high level monsters. Imaging attacking his Stardust just one turn beforehand and then inflicting 1600 extra damage just for its 8 Levels alone. But as this set allready has 2 high level monsters, I needed this card to enter the field quickly, so I gave it the opportunity to be Special Summoned by simply binning 2 "Memory" cards, which makes out 22 of the cards we have thus far.

Special Summon that monster in a Memory Zone and place the other cards revealed this way on the bottom of your Deck. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. Author's notes: Yes, that's right; a Level 0 Tuner. (At least most of the times it's on the field) Bet you don't see something like that every day. I know it might have a very overpowered ability, or that may be what you think but, if this card is the only "Memory Requiem" monster you control while it's on the field, it cannot Summon any monster, as the monsters of this set is not Level 0 in the Deck. As such, 2 monsters = a Level 1 monster, 3 monsters = a Level 2 monster and so on. It can actually summon itself, but that would mean using up all the Monster Card Zones you have. Wait and see what the Synchro might be.

Then destroy 1 Level 4 or higher monsters on the field with more ATK. The Special Summoned monster cannot attack this turn.
Author's notes: I dedicate this card to all of you who have experienced bullying and abuse, and to those of you who still live in that kind of situation; I pray for the abusers to understand that they're breaking down your personal sense of confort and that they'll see the errors of their ways and think through their actions. The effect symbolized a change of role in this aspect, where the victim suddenly take command and obliterates the enemy. It should be noted that I do not want you to take care of bullies with violence, but to have the courage to stand up for yourselves.

Author's notes: Just so you won't bother me with commenting on this card's rather poor art, rest assured that I'm not happy with it either. It is a temporary one that I haven't had much time to switch. Well, to the rest of the card: This card is mainly for allowing you a victory when you can't seem to get that Torment, as this card together with Suffering creates a devasting team. It actually allows all your monsters to do piercing damage, but in exchange for this powerful ability, you lose 500 Life Points each time a monster of yours attacks. (Even when it's not in a Memory Zone) Plus, if you actually do have Torment out, you will pump it up a notch with each attack.

You can remove this card in your Graveyard from play to Special Summon 1 "Memory Requiem" monster from your hand. When this card is Summoned, you can treat its Monster Card Zone as a Memory Zone. While this card is in a Memory Zone, your opponent must discard 1 card to attack you directly. (A monster in a Memory Zone is treated as Level 0. Author's notes: Yay, a new Memory Requiem! And this one is quiet the handy card. Harnessing a Mezuki-like ability, it combos well with the RFP support of the set. It also protects you somewhat, as your opponent has to pay a price to attack you directly. This is usually not very great with Torment out, but this card is rather nice when it’s not. (Torment, I mean)
