First, PNG will save with a white background unless you cut the sprite out completely, but there is nothing wrong with a white background on a (almost)white forum, however the sprite itself is pretty bad.

My first big problem is that you mirrored the wings and hands. This is the biggest pet peeve I have in spriting.
The wings aren't working with the base anyway, speaking of the base, it sucks. Bad idea period. Hands look horrible coming out of it and the feet don't mesh whatsoever.
There's really no saving this sprite. Scrap it, get a better idea and try again.
