RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
You didn't follow the tutorial very well. You have some unrecolored borders, you lost borders. Recoloring ont he legs didn't work at all since you went from a light color straight to a dark. You need to take more time is my suggestion.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
Well I have now completed my video tutorial for splicing in paint. It doesn't quite show off too many advanced techniques, just because those things fall under actual spriting skills, and those take way longer to teach. The video is in 4 parts. I explain everything pretty in depth though, so I think it is worth it. Beginners I think can make pretty good splices if they stop and watch the whole thing. I also narrate it, so there isn't a ton of reading you have to do either. It is also done live, and the splice I did blind, so the example splice isn't my best, but it shows what needs to be done with most.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
How many times did I say "save as .png"? I'm going to critique it later, in your thread. Don't prepare for complements.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
You have an issue then. Perhaps if you just add ".png" to the end of the file name that might work. saving as a .gif also shouldn't ruin it to my knowledge.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
View the video tutorial. It's long, but it helps with every possible step. If you're in a hurry you can just skip to the 4th video, but I seriously recommend watching the whole thing.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
Well I have to say Mr. Roh your idea isn't bad. Thing is you made on of the bigger mistakes in splicing. This mistake I thought I went over in both my tutorials, so I don't know how you missed it. You seem to have saved as .jpeg. Doing this ruins the sprite, it discolors and pixelates it. I also find your placement of the arms very awkward. Hard to say more, when it's in this condition I can't really judge things properly.

Seems you also didn't pay attention to either tutorials. You also saved as .jpeg blinded warrior. Just like the other one, this messes things up a lot. Lack of recoloring is also disappointing, recoloring can really help a splice. The whole two tails things is weird, and neither tail looks natural. The start thing on the head doesn't quite fit. I can't tell, but you may have messed up the eye. That though could just be the .jpeg though.

RE: Jappio's Splicing Tutorial
Good for you. Now fix up the splice, it doesn't look that great. I'd say more, but do to you posting that splice over in my showcase thread, I don't feel like critiquing it.
