RE: Clubs & Organizations Section Rules
Talking of which, they have malfunctioned, therefore, they aren't allowed to function anymore, even though I've made the club. Note: Don't ban me because of it, I know it's wrong. The SOC is the place where people look for spam and report it. They will spill the proof of spam to the thread and it's leader will check whether it's spam or not themselves. Anyway, what shall we do to the thread that wants to be stickied when the Featured Clubs Applications Thread is locked? Shall we PM you or what?

RE: Clubs & Organizations Section Rules
Sorry guys for replying late and not paying any particular attention to this thread anymore. I requested a full-time move to Music so right now I don't mod this section anymore. Once I'm done with my exams there might be some changes though (if I get an agreement).Wink
For now I'm going to update this thread and keep an eye around here.

It's all about the rule that's common within the more large guilds.
It often says that you need to post more than once per week or you're kicked / etc. My suggestion is to prevent such rules. It's all up to the guild leader weather they're sure the member is to inactive to stay.

To me, it's just another cheap way to gain bumps, bumps and more bumps.

The idea sounds good and would certainly reduce the spam for a part.
I still see some problems with it, though. On the other side, a club leader has the overview and "control" over his club, if you want to call it like that, right under the mods who watch the section as a whole. So far we're always been quite flexible with how a leader can shape the club rules as he deems it responsible and fair, as long as they don't go against the section rules (reps for joining, putting a member on the "banned" list for no reason, etc.).
Your idea would reduce the spam in some clubs, which is a good thing, but at the same time I think it would penalize certain others in terms of activity.
Instead, I believe certain clubs which are known for being bumped too much should be watched more particularly, as well as the section as a whole. If it gets clear that the scenario you explained just keeps repeating itself iin a thread then consequences will be taken, but preventing such activity boosting rules as a whole is a bit too much. For the sake of keeping things fair.Wink

Your point is very valid but for now, I don't think it's necessary to implement such a rule yet.
But keep letting them coming guys, ideas are always welcome!

It's a bit like the rule above.
If you think members who have nothing to do with your club should stay away from it then you can implement such a point in the club rules. Other leaders/creators might think otherwise about it though (affiliating, allowing members to ask a simple question about the club topic, etc.) so I'm going to leave that choice to the club leaders.
But go ahead!Wink

It was brought to my attention today that a club known as the "Spam Obliterator's Club" was tasking its members to go looking for Spam, even to the point of spying on threads, in an effort to get members warned or banned.

On the surface, it seems like a perfectly reasonable goal. But I've also been brought to understand that Mini-Modding, which is precisely what that Club promotes, is a practice that is generally looked down upon by the Forum as a whole.

Should these types of clubs even be allowed to function?

Oh well, issue solved.Wink
These types of threads are generally locked though. I remember how the same happened with the Fail Police in 2008, it was quite funny at first but caused a lot of harassing, flaming and (how ironic) more spam.

It got unstuck for whatever reason but I'm currently working on a new application thread. For now PM's work but please copypaste and fill out the application form in the old thread. If you can't find it look at Tkill93's profile, it should be somewhere between his older threads.

Yes, as long as no one in your club breaks the rules more then once.

btw, a 1 star member can start a club.

RE: Clubs & Organizations Section Rules
That's true aswell. Anyone can run clubs really, as long as they don't violate the rules.

Yeah, I bolded the important parts of Opal's rules here and Edited the warning system for clubs.

Clubs get 1 warning. If a club gets 2 warnings, it will be locked. No exceptions.

They can't. They're only allowed one club.

RE: Clubs & Organizations Section Rules
Because you dont need more than 1 club. If everyone could have as many clubs as they wanted, then this section would be so overrun that the term overrun would need a new definition.

Can you make a club based on religion or is that not alowed(just asking). As if you were to make a christian club or something like that. Will you get in trouble for that.

RE: Clubs & Organizations Section Rules
Only clubs that are against the site rules, or promote the violation of the site rules, whether directly or indirectly, are not allowed.
A Christian club does not fall into that category, and so, it should be perfectly acceptable.
