Yu-Gi-Oh! The Created Card Game (Updated rules, please read 1st post)
Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! The Created Card Game project!!!!
There is no deadline for signing up to this project. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join at any point in time. A lot of us here enjoy creating are cards but has any one of us taken our card creation one step further and actually using them in a game? This is exactly what I would like to try and organize here. Some of you might be wondering how it would be possible to do this and it’s actually quite simple. YVD is a free online Yugioh client that allows players from around the world play Yugioh together. The system they use to add cards to the database is simple and allows for anyone to add their own cards to the database. So in essence it is possible to set up a created card game for Yugioh card players. What I would like to try to do is organize a community of card creators who are willing to play online with a card database that is created by users from various forums. ( TCG/OCG cards are excluded ). I think a project of this nature can be very fun and help better our card making skills. Obviously, in order to get this up and running we need the help of volunteers to make this go as smoothly as possible. There is already a small group of us who are trying to get this to work. I’m not asking people to dedicate their lives to this but if we have several people doing certain tasks then things will go a lot smoother and we get to the fun part faster. So we are looking for people to help in the following tasks: Project Jobs (Click to View) If anyone wants to join and/or wants to volunteer to help out in one of the above tasks please post here. Also, I will note that if we do not have enough people who are helping out with the above tasks then it might be necessary that each person might need to do one of the above tasks. It’s just that if we have a lot of people who are just submitting cards and playing with them then it’ll be overwhelming for the few of us who are doing tasks like correcting the wording and converting them into YVD format. It’ll take longer to finish set if we don’t have enough people helping out. Card Submission Process (Click to View) The Point System (Click to View) General Rules & Guidelines for Card Submission Process (Click to View) List of categories that are restricted. RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Created Card Game
Okay so it looks like there is enough people showing interest in this. Here's a little getting started tutorial I whipped up.
YVD HELP After downloading the YVD program from xerocreative.com go here : C:\Program Files\Yugioh Virtual Dueling\ (or to the folder where you installed YVD) and find the file labeled YVD User Manual. After reading the manual I’m sure you will gain a better understanding of how to duel. If you are still having issues please ask us on this forum or in the irc channel. IRC HELP You can join us on irc.scrollrack.net, room #ccg. Tutorial for connecting on IRC server using MIRC 1. Download MIRC from here http://www.mirc.com 2. Run the installer of MIRC once it’s finished downloading. Follow it’s on screen steps to get it installed. 3. Run the executable file labeled mirc.exe. NOTE: Registration is not necessary, even after the 30 days. There will be a button that you can click to proceed with MIRC. 4. Click on FILE->SELECT SERVER 5. On the upper right corner click on ADD Here is what will appear and what you should fill in: • Description: Name of the server (You can write anything) • IRC Server: Type irc.scrollrack.com • Port: 6667 (Default) • Groups: Leave this field blank • Password: Leave this field blank 6. Click on add, then click on OK 7. Click on FILE->SELECT SERVER 8. Chose a server (profile) you made 9. Double click on the profile 10. Write a nickname then click on connect 11. When you are connected you can register your nickname but it is not necessary if you don’t want to join rooms like #yvd. I would prefer it if you did register your nickname as the server will rename your nick as Guest after a minute. To register your nickname type in /msg nickserv register <type your password here> <type your e-mail address here>. You will get a confirmation e-mail sent to you. Follow the instructions of the e-mail and your nick will be registered. 12. Type /join #ccg then press ENTER and you’re in YVD Installer (This is program that is needed for playing Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG over internet and it is also easy to throw in your own CCG cards.) http://www.xerocreative.com/downloads/90installer.msi YVD Transformer (This is a program that will convert your card submissions into YVD format, however, it is currently in development) MIRC client (program needed for connecting to IRC) http://www.mirc.com Alternatively you can use an online MIRC client such as Mibbit to connect to the irc server. TCG Set (This is TCG set that contains all of the TCG cards.) http://www.xerocreative.com/sets/yvd_set...me=yvd.set OCG Set (This is OCG set that contains all of the OCG cards.) http://www.xerocreative.com/sets/yvd_set...cg_yvd.set TCG & OCG Images http://www.xerocreative.com/downloads/allimages.zip This is the image file that you need to put in the images folder where you installed YVD. This will display images for all of the cards. How YVD Recognizes Cards: In the folder where you installed/extracted YVD you'll see a file labelled as YVD but if you don't have the extension hidden it'll be labelled as yvd.set. This file is just a plain text file. If you double click the file it may ask you to select what program you want to use to open it. Select notepad and you'll be able to edit this file and add cards. Here are examples of how yvd recognizes each card type. All cards in YVD follow this format ||||||||||| where pertinent info is put in between the || but each || is meant for a specific thing. Monster cards use the following format: |Name|Card #|Set Name|Type of Monster|Attribute|Level||ATK|DEF|Flavor text or effect text.| Lets take a look at the Dark Magician for example: |Dark Magician|2;5;1;6;1;4;7;3|DDS;LOB;BPT;SDY;SYE;PCY;DB1;SD6|Spellcaster|Dark|7||2500|2100|The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.| So to break this down. The first part |Dark Magician| is for the card name. The 2nd |2;5;etc...| shows what card number it is in the corresponding set, which is the section labelled as |DDS;LOB;etc...|. Those are the set names for example TDGS is the set label for The Duelist Genesis. So in essence it's reading it as card 2 for DDS. So Dark Magician can be found as card 2 in the DDS set or card 5 in the LOB set. This is done primarily to show where this card was available in what sets, structure decks, promos, etc... it was in as well as give the ability to add additional card images. So since the Dark Magician had various card artwork you would be able to select the image you like the most based on what set that image was used in. So for example if an alternative artwork existed in LOB then because of the |2;5;|DDS;LOB| part you can select card 5 in the LOB set for the Dark Magician's alternative artwork. Experiment with this if you have issues understanding what I mean. The next part |Spellcaster| obviously lists what type the monster is and because it is a normal monster that's all it needs. If it was an effect monster it would be labelled as |Spellcaster/Effect|. Basically, whatever else this card might be considered will be followed by a "/". So the most complicated it could be would be |Spellcaster/Gemini/Tuner/Synchro/Effect| and so on. The next part |Dark| lists what attribute it is while |7| lists what level it is. |2500|2100| is the ATK and DEF respectively so this is a 2500 ATK 2100 DEF monster. The |The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.| is where the flavor text of a normal monster would go or the effect text of an effect monster would go. Now lets look at a spell card. |Name|Card #|Set Name|Spell Card|Spell||Type of Spell|||effect text here| Type of spells are quick-plays, equips, or continuous spells. You can leave that field blank if it's just a normal spell card. Now lets look at a trap card. |Name|Card #|Set Name|Trap Card|Trap||Type of Trap|||Effect text here.| Again, type of trap is for continuous or counter traps. You can leave that field blank if it's a normal trap card. So putting it altogether if you type in your cards using those conventions in the yvd.set file they will now be part of the card database. Save the file and exit from the .set file. Open up the YVD program and you'll see that your cards are in the database if you search for them. For the purpose the Created Card Game we'll create a brand new set file for our cards. I'll be distributing the completed set file over a direct download site. However, if you are looking for the on the fly updates then visit the IRC channel. |

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Created Card Game
Card Submission Guidelines/Rules:
In order to get the feeling that this is a game and not card creation taking to an extreme, set submissions will only take place every 2-3 months. However, with that being said there will be times when a bonus submission stage will occur. This will be the equivalent of a Duel Terminal release or a bonus promo card. We can have some fun with this and put certain conditions on these bonus submissions. For example, a bonus promo could have each person submit 1 card to support a certain theme. So the main question becomes how many cards does each person get to submit? From past experiences giving each person the ability to create a lot of cards (80 for example) ends up with a 500+ card pool for each set. That becomes extremely daunting for the testing phase and it seems really silly to have 500+ cards per set when the TCG/OCG only does about 100 cards per set every 3 months. The people who started this project with me know what the issues are with huge card pools. Primarily, these are the concerns: 1. It’s hard for new comers to try and form a deck if by the time we hit the 3rd card submissions we have a card pool of about 1000 that continues to grow. 2. It allows for a lot of mediocre to not so great cards being submitted. 3. It allows for some unexpected card combination's that are very broken. So initially the way we are going to handle this is to allow each member submit a maximum of 50 cards, however, it will be up to the community to choose which cards will ultimately go into the testing phase. We are looking at allowing only 150-200 cards into the testing phase but this can change. This will keep the spirit of competing with other card creators alive as maybe your cards won’t make it into the testing phase. If the community chooses 300 cards and there is no agreement as to what to weed out then myself and a few others will determine the final count for the testing phase. During the testing phase it is up to the duelists to determine what cards are overpowered, underpowered, what combination's hurts the metagame and so forth. This will allow the creators of the cards to fix any of there cards that are broken or improve upon their cards. Another round of testing will commence after the edits. This will repeat until everyone is satisfied with the testing. Then we will make cuts to the cards until we have 100 cards in total for a set. The cards that make the final cut will then be finalized. Once a set has been finalized no further edits can be made to the cards unless there is some specific circumstance to the situation. We will give a time period for generic dueling so it doesn’t feel like we are here creating cards for the sake of creating them. We want to get the feeling that we have a game here. So there could be tournaments and other fun little events to help develop our metagame. Once the cycle ends we will enter the next major set submissions and the process will repeat like this. Again, keep in mind that there will be opportunities for a bonus submission stage that will be more flexible than the main set submissions. However, I will leave this up to the community to decide whether you like the above idea or if not think up a method for card submissions that can satisfy everyone. This is a community project so your feedback is welcomed. Next order of business is in regards to porting over existing cards from the TCG/OCG. I’m in favor of gathering an initial list of cards that we would like to see come over to the CCG; however, there are others who feel that we should make our own twists to staple cards like Heavy Storm for example. I will leave this decision to the community. |

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Created Card Game
i would like to be a player... i will also b a card maker as well..
also i think the 1st set should consist of 150 cards then each set after that 100 so we don't get overcrowded but still will have a variety to pick from.!! and i am unsure at the moment about if we should use real cards maybe their should be a limit on how many u can use or something.. i have 1 or 2 questions... i already have yvd installed is this a new 1 just for ccg or do i just use the normal yvd..?? are we going to use a specific set so we can find the created cards..?? when do the card makers have to start making the cards..?? |
