By Kraken, I mean all the famous banned members on here. Except ragnarok1945. I'm deadly serious with this.

Seriously, this forum is dying, and it isn't a matter about the popularity of the game itself. TBH I think Welche, Rodrigo, etc. all of them were positive influences upon this community; even if they did "spam" sometimes, I see no reason why they should have been perma'ed, and I honestly have absolutely no idea what the mods were thinking when they made those terrible decisions. This forum had twice the people two years ago, and I think one reason for this is that with all the famous people gone, everyone is migrating to Pojo.

If that isn't possible, YCMaker should at least advertise this site in various places - perhaps Troll and Toad.com or somewhere like that. Anyhow, we need something capable of restoring the activeness of this site and making it better.

Also, I think there was that banning spree once. Those should stop, because honestly, ...it's stupid.

In other words, the site is dying, we need to do something about it, my idea is that we should either (i) call back the dead and/or (ii) advertise tons. Also, we should stop perma-banning people unless they're really spammers.

Site is dying and something needs to be done, well I think we can all agree on that.

But the biggest thing, and please don't lock this thread because I'm saying the words 'that absolutely must not under any circumstances be said', but new people are going to come here, first and foremost, for the cardmaker. From there they may venture onto the forums as an extension thereof. So to get people to want to come here and use the site, the cardmaker MUST be updated to include Xyz monsters.

I'm sorry, but advertising an out-of-date product that this site is at present, to fans of a game who are kept interested by its evolution and new mechanics, is going to be completely pointless. What would you say if I tried to sell you a Sega Dreamcast as a fresh, exciting product? You'd most likely say, unless you're a retro guy, "f*** off you dinosaur and get yourself a 360". Same if I came to you with a VCR. "Hello old-timer, blu-ray." Of course retro stuff is seenas cool and collected by some, in the same way some people like creating/playing with old-fashioned style cards, but to appeal to as many new players as possible you have to give them the most uptodate product to get them interested. At the moment, what part of the cardmaker is remotely interesting? On face value to an outsider, this site is behind something like Yugico. Of course this site is better than Yugico, but there's nothing to convince potential new people otherwise.

I just can't see the appeal if I put myself in that position of being asked to come back after being banned, other than "catching up with people". Who by all means they have the e-mails, MSN, etc, etc of in many cases.

I agree, but un-ban Ragnarok too. Also Majestic Star is absolutely right. If members are going to come here with the intention of joining and making cards. XYZ need to be added. I'm going pseudo-inactive because the site is dying. Right now its a vicious cycle that without change, will just lead to more members quitting.

Darkplant has a valid point. If the members were to be un banned, then the forum would be restored to its original glory. But, rag should not come back. He was a spambot. His posts were pointless. they did nothing to improve cards. He only wanted his post count to go up. If this plan is iniciated, Rag must stay banned.

I do not know enough of the banned users, unless of course many of the people who I thought had simply disappeared have actually been banned, but I do agree that something needs to be done to either bring the old back or get the new in. Preferably both. Now, I've been out of touch with the actual Yugioh card game for some time(I'm moving on to Magic the Gathering and Tabletop Warhammer but that's not important right now) so I'm not in any position to judge whether the card maker is up to date or not. However, the card maker is what originally drew me to the site and led to the creation of the account with which I am currently posting here. At the time I had no idea the forums were even attached, so I simply accepted the maker for what it was and used it to play around with making custom cards.

Now, some three years later, I don't even use the Card Maker and exist entirely as a denizen of the forums. It is true that the maker is going to draw in new people, and to have the biggest draw it needs to be as updated as possible. Now, as I said i don't know enough about the permabanned members to decide whether or not specific ones amongst them should be unbanned but if they contributed to the site they should most certainly be coming back. I leave it up to those who actually know them to decide who should return and why.

We could use some good players to impart their wisdom in TCG and Your Deck. I've been having to turn to DuelistGroundz lately for my TCG fix, which isn't a bad forum, and has a lot of good content concerning current decks, and I've actually received help on decks there.

Welche was a really bad spammer though. He derailed threads constantly by whoring for attention and this site is better off without him.

Rodrigo... honestly, his comments weren't all that vulgar as others. He just struck me as an idiot who didn't really realize what he was actually saying. But being an idiot isn't something that I personally believe should be perma-able.

Yes it did, and I also never perm'd anyone over it. Being a dumb woodpecker gets you a warn increase. And then you realize "Oh! I better avoid being stupid then!" and all is well.

I honestly don't think Rodrigo has any kind of weird fascination with children. Especially since the difference between adult and child characters in most animes are usually just size of eyes and height and... that's about it.

I don't recall the specifics and avoided the topic myself, but I don't think Rodrigo should have been permed just for saying something incredibly f***ing stupid and off colour.

As for Kitty, Kitty's only crime was really telling a bad, offensive joke with Crab's reasoning that anyone who was accused of being a pedophile (like J-Max) would then say "Oh, I was just kidding."

I don't think it's all that black and white personally. Your history should play a bigger role then just a quick on-off switch and one sentence could get you blacklisted immediately. I mean, I understand that a harsh punishment is necessary for people who might harm children on a site catering primarily towards children but I don't think Kitty would willfully harm a child.

Kitty doesn't really deserve to be banned. Welche deserves it. Rodrigo's a bit of a borderline case. I'm not thoroughly convinced either way.

Rod and Kitty didn't deserve to be banned. Welche could be given a second chance out of any of them, imo.

Basically, the main reason everyone stopped coming here was that everyone was angry over the ban spree.

And yes, YCMaker doing anything positive here would help the site.

Welche already used up his second chance when he posted a bunch of porn on the site a couple o' moons ago.

I believe the "official" story was he gave his password to some guy on MSN and then that other guy porned up the joint, but you're responsible for your own account security and yada yada yada. It was a flimsy excuse at best and he was still responsible for it.

I think there were other things too that I'm just too old and senile to remember. (I mentioned somewhere unbanning him again would be his "third chance" and pointed to what I recalled from earlier, Yuzuru Otonoashi states Welche had been perm'd four other times and that this would be his fifth chance.)

I do agree that some things need to be done, although, I don't think unbanning a lot of people is a proper solution. Even though I would like to see people like Bloodrun, who I was good friends with, back.

I don't think unbanning problem posters is a good idea. I'd rather have a slower forum than even possibly be inundated with spammy, useless posts and people making pedophilic "jokes". We had a banning spree, but those that were banned were banned for what I feel were good reasons. Spam is a pain on any forum. Loli/shota doesn't belong here; there are plenty of forums for the latter, just not this one. Now if the loli/whatever posters have cleaned up their respective acts, then that's fine. But the spammers had better stay banned.

What frustrates me is that people get plenty of readers, but no-one bothers to comment, at least in RC. Perhaps we should mention that in the forum rules; not requiring comments for each reader, but encouraging it more.

I think the best way to get more people is to update the Card Maker itself. As much as I detest Xyzs, most people don't, and (heavens!) actually want to make more. Something is wrong when people have to go to YugiCo--of all places--to make their cards and then post them here. In addition, some of the text--such as the ATK/DEF areas--clips off at strange places, but this is a minor bug.

In short: Don't release the entire kraken. Just bring up a few of the less naughty tentacles. And give the glass-bottom boat (I'm really stretching this metaphor, aren't I?) a larger and clearer bottom.
