I have approached this subject with my Star Wars Legacy sets, and am curious as to how others would approach the subject. This contest is both fairly straightforward and simple:
1. Choose a type of fightercraft (air, water, space, etc. that flies or approximates flight in its medium and must be pilotable).
A. It can be any type, from straight-out fighter or mobile suit-esque, in design.
2. Create 1-3 Monster Cards based on your craft of choice.
A. If you submit more than 3 cards I will evaluate your efforts based on the first 3.
3. You are allowed to make a custom subtype as long as you include a TCG archetype.
4. Make absolutely sure your card/s reflect the fightercraft it/they is/are representing.
A. If you're making up your own fightercraft, of course I won't be able to tell if it is an accurate representation. I encourage creativity, yet if your craft is based on something please do include at least the source's name.
5. Have fun.

I will be giving each Contestant a score out of 100, divided equally between:
1. Name & Picture: how creative they are, and how well they fit what's being depicted.
2. Balance: Have you avoided over- or underpowering your card/s in both stats and effect.
3. Cognisance: Does the Lore make sense (and I will be going with the Lore below the card where it differs). OCG is not necessary, since I'm not practised enough to mark based on it yet.
4. Accuracy in Reflection: Does your card accurately reflect whatever it is it presents.

I will be accepting Entries and Submissions until 12:00PM EST on August 20. If you are up to the challenge please send me 25 points. As usual I will take 5 points, and the rest will go into the pot to be awarded to the Top 3 winners. I can also give Rep Points to the First Place winner, if he or she asks for them.
Contestants

So if you feel up to the challenge, hop into your cockpit and launch for a challenging new mission -- and may the Force be with you.

Examples of Starfighter-type Fightercraft

As I said, they don't have to be spacecraft. As long as their primary method of movement is like flight I will count them as 'fightercraft.' Oh, and they should be things that are piloted. Good luck.

Question I kind of want answered before i consider entering: Can the cards we make have reference to other cards in an archtype if we want to make them part of an archtype? E.g. Reference to a particular spell or trap.

I do not see a problem with that, HiveNet. I believe I have done the same in some manner with both of my Star Wars Legacy sets (I made one for the Alliance units and another for the Imperial ones), and especially with my Celestial Being Set. Considering how well cards can work when they involve other cards, I believe doing this should be okay. If not in your specific case, I'll let you know so you can correct it.

That's right. You just click on my name to go to my Profile. You'll see a button near the top that says 'Donate Points.' Enter '25' in the Amount field, and something like 'Contest Entry Fee' in the reason, and I'll reserve your spot.

Points received and spots reserved.

Usually, HiveNet, I allow 1 week for people to join the contest. This time I'll wait for at least 4 people even if we go beyond that week, because last time someone came around who was interested in joining, but the Submission Period was pretty much over by that time. So we may wait just a little while longer than a week to see if there are any late joiners. Once the Entry Period is over, the Submission Period will be 1 week without the wiggle room. I'll top it off with a couple of days to evaluate the cards, and that will pretty much be the end of the contest.

For this contest I'm looking for creativity in approaching fightercraft-type Machines, so it would be idea if everyone produced ideas that were different from each other. You can look at others' sets for inspiration if you want to, yet it would also probably be a good idea to go with whatever you feel would work. Remember that there are different categories (air, space, water) and types (fighter, interceptor, bomber) of fightercraft, and that some of them might be organic instead of machine. Go with your imagination and I'm sure you'll produce something I'd never of thought of.

Spider mechs, which I call striders:

Steam Strider

950 is one-half of 1900.

Crevasse Strider

Fissure doesn't target, y'see.

Dusk Strider

If it's chained, nothing happens.

Interesting angle. I've just one question: how're they going to keep up with fightercraft?

For whatever reason, the first one reminded me of the machines from 9. So are there really Level-5 monsters with 2400 ATK?

I'm not sure what "fightercraft" means. Is it a self-locomotive machine designed for combat? These be they.

Yes; Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, for instance, is Level 5.

Fightercraft denotes air-, sea-, and spacecraft that are designed to be used in combat. For example, F-22 Raptors are fightercraft. X-wings and TIE Fighters are fightercraft. G.I Joe and Cobra have submersible fighters (although I forget the names). Mind, this does not mean all fightercraft are fixed-wing, as we could easily count combat helicopters like the Apache and Hind. Nor do they have to be machanical, as the Yuuzhan Vong grew their war 'machines,' since they despised the machine. I suppose what defines a fightecraft is how it moves: it should be a motion that, if it is not flight, can be likened to it. Ground-based units are thus not fightercraft. All ground-based monsters will be disqualified.

And to clarify, the Submission Period has not begun because we are still waiting for sufficient entrants to hold the contest. For some reason, some contestants have gotten it into their heads to submit their cards ahead of time. This can be done if you expect to be away during the Submission Period, however it is far from a requirement.

Nghtwing, "Nightwing" is disqualified due to not being a fightercraft. Please try again, if you would like.

Good thing there's enough time.
I have included some examples of fightercraft in the original post. The card grammar, etc is not up to standards, so please do not take any of those as examples of what you should do for this contest. I want to see you get creative with your own brand or style or fightercraft. That is why I started this contest.
