Vector Nightmare
The second set in my series, both in order of release and in thematic order. You can find Merag here. It's basically a deck in the same vibe as structure decks (except more animeish), consisting of some real cards, some retooled anime cards, and some completely new custom cards. Durbe is probably the Barian Emperor with the least amount of exposition in regards to his duels and deck, having only shown a total of 3 Main Deck monsters and 2 Extra Deck ones, with a few generic support S/Ts. This will be interesting to work with. Durbe's deck seems to revolve around quick Special Summoning of LV4 monsters, but I'm going to give it a defensive spin to match his title as the Barian's "shield". Additionally, I'm going to work with the theme of discarding Spell cards. ----- Structure Deck: DurbeThe Barians' White Shield 20x Monsters: 3x Star Seraph Scout 3x Star Seraph Javelin 2x Star Seraph Sword 2x Star Seraph Crown 2x Star Seraph Arrow 2x Star Seraph Lance 2x Star Seraph Librarian 1x Star Seraph Sage 2x Archlord Kristya 1x Honest 18x Spells: 1x Rank-Up-Magic The Seventh One 1x Rank-Up Magic Barian's Force 3x Star Archive 3x Star Seraph Ankh 2x Star Seraph Gauntlet 2x Star Seraph Shield 2x Holy Rage (retooled) 2x Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen 1x Dark Hole 1x Star Halo 2x Traps: 2x Saint Shield (retooled) 15x Extra Deck: 1x Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry 1x Number C102: Fallen Seraph - Noble Archfiend 1x Number 44: Sky Pegasus 1x Number C44: Chaos Pegasus 1x Number 27: Star Seraph Knight Templar 1x Number C27: Star Seraph Dark Templar 2x Starliege Paladynamo 2x Vylon Disigma 2x Star Seraph Magister 2x Star Seraph Inquisitor 1x Full-Armored Sentry Pegasus -----Retooled / New cards: Star Seraph Librarian LV 4 | LIGHT | Fairy 800 | 2000 When this card is Summoned, if you control another "Star Seraph" monster: you can discard 1 Spell card from your hand; draw 2 cards. Star Archive SPELL | Field "Star Seraph" monsters you control gain 300 ATK and DEF. During your Main Phase: you can send 1 Spell card from your hand to the Graveyard; draw 1 card. During your Main Phase: you can Banish this card from your Graveyard; choose 1 "Star Seraph" Spell card from your deck and add it to your hand. You cannot activate that card this turn. This effect lasts until the End Phase and cannot be activated during the turn this card was sent from your hand to the Graveyard. Holy Rage SPELL | Normal If you control a LIGHT monster; destroy 1 face-up Spell or Trap card. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard and target 1 face-up LIGHT monster you control; the target gains 2000 ATK until the End Phase. You can only activate 1 effect of "Holy Rage" per turn and only once per turn. Star Halo SPELL | Normal Return 3 of your Banished "Star Seraph" Spell cards with different names to your deck; Special Summon a Rank 4 "Star Seraph" monster from your Extra Deck ignoring its Summoning Conditions, then attach this card to it as Xyz Material (this Special Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon). Saint Shield TRAP | Counter Activate only if you control a Fairy-Type monster. When you would take damage from battle or a card effect: reduce that damage to 0, and if you do, target 1 Fairy-Type monster you control; increase its ATK by the amount of damage you would have taken. Number C44: Chaos Pegasus RN 5 | LIGHT | Beast | Xyz 2100 | 1900 3 Level 5 monsters You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it, unless your opponent pays 1200 Life Points to negate this effect. If this card has "Number 44: Sky Pegasus" attached to it as Xyz Material, when your opponent pays Life Points: draw 1 card. Number 27: Star Seraph Knight Templar RN 4 | LIGHT | Fairy | Xyz 2200 | 2000 2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and send 1 "Star Seraph" Spell card from your deck to the Graveyard; draw 1 card. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Star Seraph" monster from your Graveyard. Number C27: Star Seraph Dark Templar RN 5 | DARK | Fairy | Xyz 2700 | 2200 3 Level 5 monsters Negate the effects of monsters this card battles with. Monsters that this card destroys by battle are Banished instead of being sent to the Graveyard. During either player's turn, if this card has "Number 27: Star Seraph Knight Templar" attached to it as Xyz Material, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; until the End Phase, this card is not affected by other card effects and cannot be attacked, and if it is the only monster you control, your opponent can attack you directly. Star Seraph Magister RN 4 | LIGHT | Fairy | Xyz 1500 | 2000 2 Level 4 "Star Seraph" monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; until the End Phase of this turn, "Star Seraph" monsters you control cannot be destroyed or targeted by card effects. You can Banish this card from your Graveyard and target 1 "Star Seraph" monster you control that has a Level; until the End Phase, it can be treated as 2 monsters for the Xyz Summon of a monster that requires 3 or more Xyz Materials.Star Seraph Inquisitor RN 4 | LIGHT | Fairy | Xyz 2600 | 2000 3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters "Star Seraph" monsters you control are not affected by the effects of your opponent's Spell cards. Once per turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls, except a LIGHT monster; send it to the Graveyard. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: send 2 "Star Seraph" Spell cards from your deck to the Graveyard. Full-Armored Sentry Pegasus RN 6 | LIGHT | Fairy | Xyz 3400 | 2000 4 Level 6 monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry" you control and a "Number 44: Sky Pegasus" you control or in your Graveyard as the Xyz Materials (Xyz Materials attached to those monsters also become Xyz Materials on this card.) This card is treated as a "Number" monster while on the field or in the Graveyard. Once per turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up cards on the field except this card, until your opponent's next End Phase, and reduce the ATK of monsters whose effects were negated by this card by 1000. During either player's turn, if you would take damage from a card effect: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; you take no damage from that effect, and this card gains ATK equal to the damage you would have taken instead until the End Phase. If this Attack Position card would be destroyed, Banished, or returned to your hand or deck: change it to Defense Position instead, and if you do, its Battle Position cannot be changed until the second End Phase, except by a card effect. ----- Fairly straightforward stuff. Star Seraph Ankh is basically an Aberconway in Spell form, helping you swarm the field for those 3x4 Xyz without killing your hand. The other Spells also have strong effects in the Graveyard (with limiters to slow down the deck a bit, as it has the potential to become quite explosive), and Star Halo offers a good summoning method for N102 or Inquisitor. N27 is inspired thematically from the Starcraft units. Its number isn't a big philosophy - just drawn from the fact that Durbe is the 2nd of the 7 Emperors (yeah I don't have much imagination). Next in line... either Nasch or Vector.
AngelusBarney
Neat. I always found Durbe cool, and I like Star Seraph, just wish it wasn't yet another throwaway archetype. I also kinda like the MetaXyz for Seraph Pegasus, combine 2 Xyz monsters for an Xyz Summon, pretty neat. Though I do kinda wonder if it needs a broken card just to add to it, like a Spell that lets you draw 1 card if banished from the Graveyard, or add either another copy of itself, a "Star Seraph" Spell Card, or a "Star Seraph" spell card that isn't it. Maybe it would be something like "Star Seraph Gateway" or something.
Slinky
Librarians last line seems overkill. You do need to control another seraph, AND discard a spell. So might want to do away with that. Archive is redundant, maybe it could send a "Star Seraph" spell from the deck instead? Then again, that is what #27 does... so maybe.. it can return a banished one to the grave? Full Armored Sentry Pegasus's last effect is really confusing. Maybe make it: "If this face-up attack position card would be removed from the field, you can detach all Xyz Materials instead, and if you do, switch this card to defense position." or something like that. Javelin is fine, crown is fine. Why is Lance level 6? I'd make Arrow not care if the spell was sent to the grave from the hand. I'd say hand or deck honestly. C44 seems.. lackluster. Up its ATK maybe? a 300 buff from its base form seems sooo low, especially when its attack wasnt that great to begin with, and it's effect doesn't back it up. TheLionHeartKing
I love that Structure Deck, despite the fact that your Star Seraphs don't follow the "S alliteration" that the canon wiki says, but screw the rules here's a talent.
