Edge of Tomorrow

Is this actually any good? 'Cause I'm reading the manga adaptation right now, and I love it.

Funny how they actually call it "All You Need is Kill" over there, unlike the utterly bland "Edge of Tomorrow."

Well, the original is "All You Need is Kill", but they changed it and made it blander because let's face it "All You Need is Kill" would just sound weird to most Western audiences. Plus with all the talk of media influencing shootings, etc., it would probably be a bad PR move.

Movie comes out in June. I don't know if it will be good. It at least looks interesting. It's going to be based rather closely off of the light novel rather than the manga, since I think the manga takes its own liberties. I may read the manga, but I think I'll try to pick up the light novel first since it's actually been translated and released in English.

So, I just watched it with my Dad and a friend.

It was surprisingly good. Good action, good way of handling the story, the changes weren't too blatant (In fact, I like the new mimics better than the Manga ones)...

All around good. I think I'd give it a 7.5/10, pushing onto an 8.

Oh yeah it was great fun.

*Personal Thoughts I've been copying pasting around*:

A very enjoyable action/sci-fi movie that has fun with its premise as compared to the much darker in tone source material(All You Need Is Kill), and is no worse off for it.

Adaptive differences like a trigger happy Rita, and making the Science Nonsense and objectives clear, work in its favor as a Hollywood Blockbuster. The tendriled Mimics look good. And i've become less offended by the Keiji -> Cage americanization. Also Tom Cruise dieing again and again for your viewing pleasure.

Cons: The romance is weaker. The Exo-suits arent very cool looking. It didnt reach the emotional highs or lows of the comic, and I'm not keen on the climax.

I like the comic adaptation more, but they're both great in different ways, I think it comes down to a matter of preference.
Would recommend.
