...and rebuilds it entirely from scratch.

 

This is for a fanfiction I'm working on.

 

I'm taking the cards from Legend of Blue-Eyes up until likely Invasion of Chaos (so no Synchros, Xyzs, or Pendulums) and replacing them with new, similar cards, and everything released after that is considered non-existent.

 

[spoiler=THE RULES I'M GOING BY]

 

1. Vanillas no longer exist

Vanillas contribute nothing to the quality of the game, and they require zero thought to make.

 

Because vanillas don't exist, I'm not labeling Effect Monsters as such because every monster has an effect.

 

2. I'm using color frames to distinguish Attributes like Magic

Because Vanillas don't exist, it's kind of silly to have a sea of orange.

 

That said, monsters are now given color frames like MtG based on a MSE template.

 

LIGHT: Yellow

EARTH: Black

FIRE: Orange

DARK: Purple

WATER: Blue

WIND: Green

Non-Attribute (such as Spells and Traps that don't support a certain Attribute): White

 

Using the CGB template now. The multi-colors thing was too confusing.

 

3. The existing card pool doesn't exist

The point of this project.

 

Save for some generic Spells and Traps like Monster Reborn.

 

4. By the end, purearchetype.dek won't exist

I want the cards to be able to interact without being a part of [archetype x]

 

All archetypes will be subtypes like Toons.

5. Fish and Sea Serpents are removed completely

Kind of redundant to have 3 kinds of sea creatures. All monsters that were Fish and Sea Serpents are now Aquas.

First of all, let me tell you that I really like the reboot of the old cards, making vanillas somewhat more useful. From the theme I see, I think it's more like for a sequel rather than the complete reboot of the original cards with the original themes, but that's not a problem, as it is more refreshing actually. I also like how you added the names of the revamped cards in the card itself. Nice choice of getting rid of archetypes too.

 

Some other comments:

 

- The CBG style looks really nice

- I really welcome the Monk theme

- Needs MOAR Dinosaurs

- The Harpie Ladies as Valkyries is a really creative way to make the sub-type work.

- I actually miss the synergy and combos with Time Wizard, like Thousand Dragon.

- Some of the Field Spell Cards feels really broken, even thought I see what you did there (Duelist Kingdom arch)

Working on Dinos, will probably make them like Beast-Warriors, but far more aggressive.

 

In a change of plans, there will another archetype (as sub-types like Toons) in the Amazon series, though, they'll have a splashable engine for Warrior decks.

 

Should there be any future archetypes, they will be made to work with existing cards to avoid making them dominate over the less/non-linear cards so linear and non-linear decks can (hopefully) exist. Ex: A hypothetical HEROes' equivalent won't have Miracle Fusion and E-Call, and would rely on stuff like Mythril Knight and the Fusion Subs.

 

Anyway, EARTH, WATER, and DARK Rituals added.

I love your style the old and the new cards. Would it be to much to ask what the font in your old cards (the one for the name and type, with the line underneath the o) is called ? i would love to use it in some of my own projects.

Nevermind I found the font, it's called Lightfoot Narrow Extra-Condensed ^^
