What Deck Would You Play?

Recommended Posts

I'm not 100% sure what the right section for this would be, but it's a simple question I wanted to ask you guys. See, I don't play very competitively, most of my decks being built for fun and not very viable against more competitive decks. So, my question to you guys is "What deck would you play if competition didn't matter?"

You don't have to give a full deck list, but maybe what archetypes or cards you'd love to use if it didn't matter how good they actually were. Maybe something that isn't supported much anymore, or don't work well with other cards you like in the same deck. If style was all that mattered, what cards would you use in your deck?

@Wildflame: I just mean, if you weren't thinking in terms of what cards gave the best effects, for the sake of this topic, what cards would you use? Like, if you could pick and choose what cards were competitively viable, what would you pick? And you can totally answer with multiple decks if you want.

HERO Hybrid w/Synchro and Xyz monsters

Ice Barrier (probably the Deck I'm used to playing with the most)

Artifacts (after I get used to them)

Blackwing

103.dek

Tachyon Dragon.dek

First one is what I actually use for the most part IRL, even though I'm missing some extremely important key cards (assuming I can find it nowadays). It'll probably change if SD27 ever gets released in English (I'd take that over the LS one we're getting).

Ice Barrier (period)

Next: Constellar!!!
I love the Zodiac theme, constellations, stars, blah blah blah.

Also, those cards that use Snow/Ice Counters come 3rd.
Nice artworks, too icy. (Ice Barrier still owns this though.)

For the others:
  • Naturia (artwork-wise, good)
  • Chess Archfiends (I like them somehow)
  • Gishki? (though I still play the deck, still good)
  • Magnet Warriors + Valkyrion
  • Jack/Queen/King Knight
  • Oh yeah, Gem-Knight
  • Anything else I can't remember atm
Just remembered:
  • Gusto
  • Mist Valley
  • Evol perhaps
  • Psychic maybe

Basically, everything up to and including GX (but after ban lists became a thing)+Pre-banish Psychics (with the pre-banish Psychic ban list for them)+a few synchros and tuners just to keep up with the fact that synchros are included with pre-banish Psychics.

That's my ideal meta.

I don't play much anymore due to how powerful even the "casual" decks have gotten.

Bujin Control (as opposed to Bujin Turbo) - I just for some reason like the idea of sitting on a single monster while protecting it from just about everything.
Solid Seal Koa'ki Rock Stun, maybe with Skill Drain tech (would have to test Skill Drain) - When I was running this deck, it felt like whoever won the duel was truly the better player. Unfortunately, it seems to have become too slow.
Qliphoth with some Spirit tech - because this just sounds hilarious.
An "updated" old build of CloakedDuelist.dek - this deck just had so many options available, and its decklist looked utterly ridiculous yet it worked really well.
Solid Brain-robbing Aliens - why run my own powerful monsters when I can steal my opponent's?

Reaper Prophecy and/or World Prophecy - I don't know which build I'd prefer more.

I may edit this post and add more as I think of them.

The question in the OP is rather irrelevant to me because all the decks I enjoy playing happen to be good.

A better question for me would be "If you could make any decks competitive (again,) what would they be?"

The answers to that question are

Dark Worlds

Plant Synchro

Zombie Synchro

Scraps

and

...

Divekick.
