Seven years have passed since Sei Iori won the 7th Gunpla Battle Championship World Tournament. The Gunpla Battle Championship is now run by Yajima Trading. With new rules and new battle modes, the game's popularity has become even more widespread.

However, the Seiho Academy that Sei once attended has failed to catch onto the trend. The only member of the school's Gunpla Battle Club is its president, middle schooler Fumina Hoshino. Currently there is no way the club can participate in the middle and high-school division of the upcoming All-Japan Gunpla Battle Championship, where players fight in teams of three.

Then Fumina meets a new transfer student. He is Sekai Kamiki, a young martial artist who has been traveling with his master. Together with a young Gunpla builder named Yuuma Kousaka, they finally have three members for their team.

I didn't expect a large time skip and a change of main cast. I was hoping a second season would go more into the Arian world, but I'm still looking forward to this. But does this mean no ReijixAila? TT^TT

Also, interesting that Yuuma has the same surname as China.

According to the wiki, it's her brother.

Anyway, Sei, Mao, and Yuki should be competing in the older division. I would have included Nils and Fellini, but it's Japan only. Nonetheless, I'd still expect them to appear at some point, probably to coach one of the kids.

Also worthy of note is that Sekai (the red haired kid) uses the Build Burning Gundam. A variation of the one originally piloted by Domon Kasshu WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!!!!!

Some how...I'm calling the fact of the Build Burning Gundam's user is SOMEHOW related to Reiji...I got this feeling.

If not, then I'm sure we'll see the famous duo return again. Mainly cause I've been itching to see Star Build Strike Cosmos ever since GBF ended!!

Though the fact of the one Gunpla being based off the Burning Gundam is awesome to see! And how they continued to use the "Build" thing in the Gunpla's name, which in future series (hopefully there will be plenty more) may be a reoccurring thing.

Doesn't really look like Burning to me, though... If it actually is, then it can confirm a small theory I have about Build.

It's very stylized. I mean the Build Strike and variations just used the body as a base, but they were painted differently and had a few different parts, namely shoulders. Hell, Ms. Sazabi happened. I'm guessing the reason it doesn't look a lot like the Burning Gundam is because it lacks the wings, which I'm pretty sure will be added during the mid-series upgrade (e.g. Shining>God Burning). Currently, the only similarity I see is the chest piece (sort of) and the head.

So I thought about this a bit during my watching of the first season of this show, and is it better or worse that I've seen almost no other Gundam series? (only SD Gundam Force and Mobile Fighter G Gundam)

Honestly, I think some of the enjoyment of the series is noticing the callbacks/fanservice. That doesn't mean it isn't a good stand alone series. I'd recommend giving a few series a 3 episode rule if you have free time though. (just wiki find a list of series and pick a few)

I sort of felt that towards some of the SD and G things (Chinan coming in with the Master Gundam was pretty great), but I didn't really care about even the fanservice stuff I did get. I like to appreciate things for what they are. I watched season 1 on the GundamInfo YouTube channel, and in the comments I saw tons of raging and complaints about how things were different from how they were originally portrayed in their own series, or tried comparing the show to other Gundam series, ignoring the fact GBF's tone and format was so different at a base level. Like, people treated the show like they were still robots fighting to the death instead of toys brought to life for fun and revelry.

I think a good analogy of the situation is how I felt about Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go. Two completely different manner of shows, but all the complaints I saw towards Go were people trying to compare them instead of appreciating Go for the light-hearted comedy it was.

In the first season, during the festival there were a few callbacks. Such as Haman Karn, the Kasshu family, Quattro Bajeena, and a few others. Before that, we had Mao and Sei dressed as the original pilots of the suits theirs are based on, Garrod and Jesus Kira respectively when showing each other their Gunpla. And throughout the series we had RAMBA MOTHER FORNICATING RAL.

New Build Fighters season? =0 but, but, but, I wanna see more Reiji x Alia, and Sei and Reiji still have a score to settle. It was the cliff-hanger =0

And, and, and... Fellini, Ral, Neils, where are you? Mao, Sei, and Yuuki at the very least should appear since they are in Japan. Unless they already bite the dust sometime within the 7 year time skip.

At least, after watching Build Fighters, I have faith in this anime's potential. I'll give it a try, and Gundam G being the only other Gundam series I ever watched, I'm excited for some Shining Finger fun or the time he might ride a unicorn. It's the one reference I would have gotten that I never got to see in the previous season, other than inevitably knowing what Gundam Wing is (points at Fellini), of course.
