Night Posted September 6, 2014 Report Share Posted September 6, 2014 Some of you might remember that I teased this idea a while back, most won't seeing as though it was almost four or so years back, prior to me even being a mod (legitimately had to dig up the logo from an old hard-drive of mine).That was also around the time I was trying to push for Showcase reformation, it was proposed but never brought into fruition because as most of you know '08-'12 Showcase wasn't known for being "community oriented," these days I like to think it's our main objective however so I've no doubt this'll be as popular as the Sotw. Basically: collaboration based competition, fairly simple concept. How we're going to execute this is a different matter entirely, there are multiple routes we can go with this. Going to need your assistance in deciding which to go with. We could have it as a one-off thing every now and then with random pairings every time, or we could have a season and establish set teams for example: Night x Rai / Catman x Dae / Madsen x Hioco / etc. and have two teams battle each week to accrue points, the team with the most points by the end of the season wins or we could do it tournament style, either swiss or bracket. For the latter there'd be a main bracket and also a losers bracket, otherwise it'd be too short. Slightly more complicated than the Sotw's format (which is on hiatus this week) but that's also what makes it more interesting. Do tell me what you think about it all, especially if you're someone who's just planning to watch and not compete. The aim is to make this entertaining for everyone. Available to partake: 1. Night 2. Rai 3. Smear 4. Madsen 5. Ali 6. Hioco 7. Catman 8. Dae (post below if you would like to participate, do note that depending on the format we use it may require you to dedicate some time at least once a week, if you don't think you'll be able to be consistent don't sign up at all or I'll personally fuck you up irl.) Unexpected pairings can really bring out something new in everybody, and it's really interesting to see how each person adds to the style of the other. Set teams and tournaments is cool, but I think the formality is unnecessary. Showcase strives on batting ideas around, rather than fierce competition. The tournament-style is mainly to get people invested. When you have a partner in something and are working together to accomplish that thing you then have more of an obligation or incentive to see it through.
