Tale of the GameChildren (Planning and Commentary)

While I was creating the "GameChild" card archetype, I began to create personalities for all of the various children. I have most of a story panned out, but some of my more neglected GameChildren are still lacking in the personality department, being either one-dimensional or entirely ignored.

The archetype, for those who wish to help with characterization: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/322991-gamechildren-rpg-heroes-and-villains/

The personalities I have fully developed are as follows::

GameChild Swordsman
He's a brash little kid, easily the bravest of the group. Naturally, he's a born leader, but his lack of brains leads to him leaning on White Mage, Summoner, and Knight. The lot of them leaving home for an adventure was his idea- he thought that if they all succeeded in their own quest, everyone would finally take him seriously. Of course, he needed to FIND a quest first . . .

GameChild Lancer
He's Swordsman's best friend, who is considerably less optimistic. He tends to point out reasons why a particular person or thing can't be trusted, and can occasionally break through his friend's simplemindedness to make points on how not everything is as it appears. Just as good a leader as Swordsman, and takes over the reins when he feels his friend leads everyone astray.

GameChild White Mage
An eternal optimist, White Mage really tries to be everyone's friend. He readily admits that his magic is all he's good for, and yet his unwavering belief in friendship leaves him ready to face anything Swordsman leads him into. His unshakable belief that everyone is good deep down is something he calls his greatest strength, despite Black Mage telling him it's just being naive.

GameChild Black Mage
She is very shy and doesn't like being around people much- fitting, as the only people who really see her as a friend are the optimistic White Mage and the baby Slime. In fact, due to the fact that she's basically been bullied by most of the other GameChildren, she has very little faith in people. Surprisingly, she is far and away the most intelligent of the group, with knowledge both magical and practical. In fact, White Mage often comes to her for advice, which he relays to the rest of the group- however, due to the fact that no one trusts her, she lets him take credit for her wisdom and ideas.

GameChild Archer
A scruffy tomboy, Archer is determined to make sure everyone knows she's just as strong or smart as any of them. Boisterous and slightly overbearing, all she really wants in the end is to be remembered- she is under the impression that, were it not for her constant, loud reminders she was there, all her friends would completely ignore her. Then there's her (entirely unrequited) crush on Hero . . .

GameChild Thief
Interestingly, despite how useful he is often made to admit his skills are, Thief wants to distance himself from his famous father as much as possible. Despite this, his personality lines up almost perfectly with his detested parent's- quick-witted, sneaky, and smart-mouthed. Unlike his father, however, he's unflinchingly loyal to the other GameChildren, ready to lay his life on the line to protect any of them.

GameChild Summoner
His great magic skill would lead one to believe that, like Black and White, he is extremely intelligent- however, this is sadly a misconception. In fact, his main role in the group is to use his Summon magic to call the other GameChildren to his location for secret meetings. He is highly reliant on his friends, and is never seen without a backpack full of Ethers to ensure that he can call at least one of them to his side in case he gets himself into trouble. He even lies to the group to make himself seem like the wise Mage his friends believe he is.

GameChild Slime
The baby of the group, Slime just kinda toddles behind Black Mage wherever she goes. As such, Black confides in her (or, rather, vents her problems to the tiny toddler while she listens with rapt attention), and in turn acts more like a mother to Slime than her own mother. Luckily for everyone involved, Slime is very resilient, taking nearly all matter of physical trauma without so much as scrunching her tiny face. Hilariously enough, Slime often points out obvious solutions that the older kids overlook.

GameChild Skeleton
Skeleton may not be the most intelligent of the GameChildren, nor the strongest, he is still the most willing to take blows in the place of one of the others. After all, he will only fall apart, after which point he can pick himself up and put himself back together again. Despite this inherent protective nature, he was the worst bully to Black Mage, and still messes with her for the fun of it- sometimes he just rattles his bones to watch her flinch. He often gets told off by Slime or White Mage, but given his bad memory, he's usually right back to it in a few hours or so.

GameChild Doppelganger
Doppelganger is an interesting case. Despite how intelligent and kind-hearted he normally is, he is extremely easily manipulated- it's a common village joke that it's just as easy to change Doppelganger's mind as his form. In the end, he is an absolute doormat, willing to do anything and everything to please others, especially his friends.

GameChild Dragon
While Dragon hasn't been taught how to speak the language his friends share, he's entirely capable of understanding them- which has led everyone short of Evil and the Mages to believe he's just a dumb animal. While Dragon doesn't like the girl all that much, only Black can actually understand his draconic speech, so he is forced to limit his conversation to her- slowly but surely, though, she's teaching him English. In return, he has agreed to stop eating her books.

GameChild Ultimate Evil
Evil is the oldest of the GameChildren, and has agreed to go on Swordsman's "quest" to both humor him and spite her father, who has refused to admit defeat- she feels that, if her dad sees her accepting that he won't get his stranglehold over the country back, that he might as well. While she doesn't approve of Skeleton hurting Black Mage, and is often the first person to bring up the "you hurt others, I hurt you" rule, she herself thinks Black is an annoying, whiny know-it-all, and bullies the girl in subtler ways, like intentionally leaving the girl out of the funner activities and hiding her books. Despite this mean streak, she is looked to as the group's communal second mother, and has kept them from splitting up on several occasions.

GameChild Legendary Hero
Hero is measured, cautious, and brooding most of the time, preferring to stand off by himself and watch the other GameChildren play their games. However, he is fiercely protective of everyone, and is often one of the first to step up and draw a weapon when the kids get themselves into too much danger. Then, of course, there's his crush on Evil, which has gotten him into trouble on more occasions than one, especially when he misconstrues things she says. Swordsman, Lancer, and Knight all look up to him, seeing him as the cool warrior they all wish they could be. He approves of the younger kids thinking of him as the Team Dad, especially considering their opinion of Evil as the Team Mom.

GameChild Vespid
Despite being only a few inches tall, this Fae warrior sees herself as more than a match for anything the GameChildren get themselves into. In fact, she specifically honed her animal-taming skills to be able to always have the upper hand against the beasts in the surrounding forest. Her faith in her combat ability is only matched by her insecurity in other matters. She has never been able to live down an incident from several years ago where Evil confused her for a doll and changed her clothes while she had been taking a nap. Vespid is under the firm belief that no one could seriously confuse her for a doll, and as such thinks Evil humiliated her on purpose, and sees the older girl as a rival of sorts. However, all the things Vespid has done in an attempt to get even with Evil have been relatively harmless, leaving the older girl entirely unaware of Vespid's seething anger- which only incenses her more.

GameChild Knight
Given how tall Knight is, one would assume he was closer to Hero and Evil in age- in reality, however, he's actually younger than Swordsman. Knight is stronger than most of the other GameChildren, and his parents gave him a full suit of armor that makes him considerably more durable than the others, but his quiet personality makes him more of a follower than a leader. He also has a moral code almost as upstanding as White's, and his inability to lie has led to the kids leaving him out of the loop on their more rebellious pursuits. He refused to stay behind when Swordsman suggested everyone go out on an adventure, however, and has contented himself with carrying all the blankets for their nights outdoors.

I'm tweaking the story to give lines to just about everyone, but I'm grasping at straws for character traits for the other GameChildren. Any help would be appreciated.
Once I have enough to get started, I'll post this here.

(The relative ages of everyone has been bumped up from my original idea. Slime is a tiny toddler, most of the GameChildren are between 10 and 12, Hero is 14, and Evil is 16.)

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Bard or the Gardna.

My current notes:

The Bard would be somewhat shy (though not to the extent of Black Mage), and would focus her music-based magic through a violin. Despite her shy nature, she would be legitimately funny, coming up with jokes and songs to attempt to keep everyone in good spirits throughout the adventure.

The Gardna would have the strong, upright morals associated with a defender, and would wield twin hexagonal tonfa-shields. However, despite her strong moral code and deep care for her friends, she has a bad habit of being deeply envious of all her friends, and openly being jealous of things they have.
