The Halloween movies

Because, AMC marathoned the movies all week, and I've watched them several times five days straight.
Really liked Halloween's atmosphere, from the scenes of Michael casually strolling through the neighborhood, to the subtle scenes of him in the background standing behind his prey before his attacks them.

The characters are pretty dull. Laurie is really only there because Michael needs a designated target, the side characters are...there (one becomes a main in H6.) Dr. Loomis is the only one who consistently stands out in the movies he's appeared in. Micheal is at his best here, since they try to maintain of level of humanity while also making him appear invincible.
Not as great as the first one, with its emphasis on gore and dehumanizing Michael, but a great sequel overall. The Micheal Myers saga really should've ended here, and H3 was meant to do that.

The score is a more chilling remix of the original, and the new additions are just as great.
This movie is weird, in a good way. I liked the music, A LOT. It's probably the creepiest soundtrack in the series. I like the emphasis on body horror in this one, with spiders crawling out of mutilated faces and whatnot. It's never too over the top, just skin-crawling.

I've found the theme song a lot catchier than the main series theme. The score is my favorite in the series, after H2's. While H2 focused on being chilling, H3 had that plus light-hearted tunes for the disturbing scenes.

This movie is just...weird...and really fun and immersive.
Didn't really like this movie. It was mainly Laurie's daughter, Jamie screaming because she has nightmares about Michael, and Dr. Loomis being a badass (which actually isn't a bad thing.)

The score is forgettable. Just another remix of the original theme, and some other music.

Kind of indifferent to this one. Feels like a "next generation" version of the first movie.

I liked that were technically two final girls (Jamie and Rachel, a big sister character.) Sucks what happens to Rachel next film.
This is the Halloween 2 of the Jamie movies.

This movie was so stupid, and at the same time, I really enjoyed it.

I liked the idea of the police proactively trying to stop Michael's attacks (and succeeding at least once,) but the way they went about it with Jamie becoming a psychic that predicts his next attacks made a great idea for a sequel incredibly dumb. It would've been nice to have Loomis and detectives working together to lure Michael out and catch him.

It feels like Loomis has a bigger presence in the movie, but I found myself surprised to be invested in the secondary characters. There's Tina, who, in previous films, would be the promiscuous best friend who gets killed because shut up. I really liked that she was treated as something other than a random kill target for Michael. She was more developed for a promiscuous teen character than usual in the Halloween movies (checking the wiki, another girl would get similar treatment in the Rob Zombie movies,) and her death actually kind of meant something to me in that I actually didn't want to see her die. That's a first for me with a slasher movie.

I also liked the kids, here. Jamie's reactions are realistic, and she really does come even worse than in the 4th film...which is another reason why I hate 6.

Disregarding his return in H4, Michael's invincibility in H5 has elevated to levels of stupidity. In H2, Laurie shoots him in the eyes and blinds him for the rest of the film. Here, a cop lucky headshots him, and he only flinches, with no visible damage to his mask, and continues his attack. The more vulnerabilities you strip from the villain, the less thrilling the villain is.

The ending is the best since the first movie. It comes right the heck out of nowhere, and its a pretty chilling cliffhanger...which is completely butchered in the next movie.

This movie had great ideas, but ruined it with bad ones.

The actresses are hot, though (Tina is gorgeous, and that part where Rachel's in the bath towel for 5 minutes...what? Boob hype.)
This movie is atrocious.

The storyline is dull, it's just Michael hunting down Jamie's baby (the Producer's Cut apparently hints that Michael is the father through rape. Why?), and Tommy Doyle, a kid from the first film, and Loomis are trying to stop him. There's also a female lead with an over-the-top abusive father and a creepy son. Did I mention the evil druid cult that worships Michael?

Jamie is completely wasted here. For all the suffering she's been put through in the previous movies, she's cast off with an unceremoniously death in the opening act in favor of characters who were dull as sin. While Jamie was traumatized to hell by the end of 5, Tommy just comes off as a creepy nut.

This movie turns up the gore meter to near-cartoonish levels (one guy is electrocuted to the point his head explodes), and remixes the original score with electric guitars (or something) for some reason (the Producer's Cut uses a different score.)

That's the movie in a nutshell. We went from police doing stuff, to police doing nothing. Now, we have evil druids worshipping Michael, and the Producer's Cut (which can be found on YouTube in poor quality) actually shows Tommy using druid magic to defeat Michael (YouTube it.)

There's also a lot of bizarre jumpcuts (one near the end where Michael is beaten with a stick, and they cut to shots of him oozing yellow puss, only for it to not be there after the beating is over,) and just looking at the movie, you can see all the 90's with the blue lighting in the backgrounds at night.

And, now you know why H20 ignores everything after H2.
Anyone see any of the movies?
