Welcome to the 9th installment of the Sakura Contest Series.

This time, we'll focus on aircraft.

 

Requirement

 

Make a Mecha Phantom Beast card.

You may choose to design a new monster card or extra support; it's your call.

For safety, you may wish to submit it by the same time in your respective timezones (if it proves less confusing).

1. Card must be related to Mecha Phantom Beasts; other entries get rejected.

 

As noted in task, designing a new member OR a Spell/Trap support is perfectly fine.

 

2. Entries must be your own. If you are caught using someone else's entry, you'll be DQed (and possibly warned for ripping). If your card is being used w/out permission, please PM me with proof.

 

3. Post your card lore underneath the card. It makes it easier for the judges & myself to read the effects, correct OCG and show any such corrections if you request us to do so.

 

(Just copy/paste the card lore from the generator, and you will not need to manually type it a second time).

 

4. Written Cards are allowed, but if you do, must be written in text format (no using cardmaker to make a card w/out pic)].

There is no shame in making a Written card.

 

I know it's difficult to find suitable pictures at times, so that's why I don't grade on them; especially in this case, where it may prove difficult to find pictures of animalistic aircraft). If you can draw them, great; otherwise, just find whatever comes close.

 

5. Check over your card before submitting it (OCG/grammar, card stats/effect).

 

While I will allow you to fix minor details before the deadline, you should've already designed it as a final product. If you make any edits, you need to notify me (either in the thread or a PM). Minor details mean fixing OCG/spelling errors and small aesthetic changes.

 

You may not completely change your entry.

 

6. Entries must be new.

 

7. Use card types, Attributes, ATK/DEF that exist in the actual TCG/OCG. Fake Types/Attributes/stats are not allowed.

There shouldn't be much reason to deviate from the 23 legal Types in the game; cards should fit into one of them.

 

(MPBs are WIND Machine-Types; I don't think this should be much of a problem)

 

8. Entries are expected to have some degree of effort put into designing them. Blatantly OPed cards and/or ones that lack any noticeable effort will not be accepted.

 

9. If you make cards outside of the YCM generator (Yugico, MSE, self template, w/e), make sure that you are able to link to them on the front page. It's advisable you make the card here since it's easier to post your card.

 

In the case of Pendulums, use Tinypic or w/e image host you use to upload the cards. DO NOT use attachments. If YCM's generator is broken and will not generate IMG codes, just use another image host.

 

10. Unless you plan to enter / help with the judging or ask about contest-related things, please don't post in this thread.

 

11. Regular YCM Rules apply.

 

12. Submit your entries in the thread. Makes it easier for myself and other judges to read/judge your stuff.

 

13. If you opt to do a new monster, please note both the animal + aircraft components of its name.

Linking to Wikipedia articles about them is fine, especially if they're thing that aren't talked about often.

Please make sure you've passed the Judging Exam; given the prize pool, I need to be sure you know what you're doing.

 

Also helps if you are familiar with the playstyle.

 

Remember to post your judging criteria when applying.

 

Criteria

 

Sakura [100]

 

Balance (30) - Is your card broken in tandem with existing support or does it fit nicely? (In other words, will it warrant the banhammer if ever released)

Creativity (20) - Is this something new or you just copy/pasted off of an existing member?

Flavor (20) - Did you follow the naming pattern and design style (WIND Machines, involve Tokens, etc). Also includes you abiding by RC principles.

Usability (15) - Can MPBs use it effectively?

OCG (15) - Self-explanatory; how well did you write grammar in accordance with PSCT. Also note that standard English grammar/spelling mistakes are factored in here as well. (Use spell check before posting)

You can banish 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster from your Graveyard, except "Mecha Phantom Beast Dyna-soar"; Special Summon this card from you hand or Graveyard, and if you do, you can Special Summon 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast Token" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0).  If Summoned this way, banish this card when it leaves the field.  While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.  Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster from your hand or side of the field; either increase or decrease this card's level by 1.  A Synchro monster that was Synchro Summoned using this card as Synchro Material gains the following effect:
• This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each.

 

Here is the usual background:

  • Name comes from (rather unoriginally) the Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar, a design for a military U.S. spaceplane that could undergo missions in the upper atmosphere to a low orbit, such as reconnaissance, small scale bombings, and sabotage.  The project has since been canceled.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_X-20_Dyna-Soar
  • As per the source material I tried to give this thing options akin to a small space plane:  speedy deployment, a variety of synchro options, and a bonus to a fellow aircraft from the ultimate bird's eye view.
  • I'm not really happy that the name isn't original, but it seemed all too perfect to try to change, so whatevs.
  • On concern I have is how balanced the summoning ability is.  I restricted it like Plaguespreader, and hopefully that was enough of a hindrance.

Cyclocopter + Ocelot

During either player's turn: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; immediately after this effect resolves, Special Summon 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0). You can only use this effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Cyclocelot" once per turn. While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Your opponent cannot target Tokens for attacks.

 

Mecha Phantom Beasts' big weakness is that they suffer from being able to keep their Tokens alive on the field to be able to use their effects. Their Tuners (other than O-lion) also don't contribute much, because usually one would just be wasting more resources to get out a Synchro. I created Cyclocelot in hopes of bandaging those weaknesses and providing advantage when in a tight spot.

This circuit is to be installed in each of their engines. Their speed will drastically raise and I'll prove it by going fast!!

I'll enter! I mean, I'm new, but the more I make cards, the more I learn, right? Here's my card(it is written because I couldn't find any pictures! Hope that's okay!) The kind of aircraft I chose was a Fighter, a military aircraft and the animal I chose is a "Agouti", which is a small rare animal. Anyway, here's my card. These are my last edits. This is my final form card.

You're missing its ATK/DEF stats; along with the aircraft + animal you chose to use,

 

But yeah, it's fine if you submit a Written Card.

Given the nature of this contest, it may prove difficult to find suitable pictures of animal-based aircraft in a similar style to existing stuff.
