CnC Support

Being a minor member at best I don't have much say... but... Finding a way to get CnC on the custom cards more often would be cool. It wasn't as bad a few months back, but it is just silly to have a site made to create and show off cards and not get much response. It kind of makes it feel pointless. I cant think of anything that would help... but if this was looked into just a bit more... maybe people would take more time to make cards just to show them off. I always enjoyed looking at others cards... but I never feel the push to give a cnc. That sounds bad I know... but still.

Honestly a really big problem, given that the site's kind of about sharing cards with your friends.

I think the problem with garnering activity in that area is that a lot of people really just don't care about the game, and the one's that do aren't interested in looking at other people's cards - only making them.  There are numerous solutions that should work in theory, but none of those ideas have worked in the past.  A reward system, now that we can give emblems to people, would be a good thing.  This would allow us to recognize great reviewers and give awards to them based on their skillset, or recognize even better cardmakers and the like.

But how would we do that, you ask?  I think using the report button for a positive reason in Created Cards is a really good idea.  If you see a post that you think is really stellar and discusses your card, you can bring it to the attention of a moderator and they can review it.  This would allow them to tally up just how many positive reviews that member has in that section, add it to a table in excel (it's not that hard), and grant them emblems if they meet the requirements for them.  This goes for any positive action on the site you can count, and even for making a great card.  The problem with this is that many if not all people would be too lazy to hit the report button, and that a moderator would have to actually be active enough to sift through all of these 'positive reports'.

The "like" button more or less simulates that, but I agree that rewarding reviewers in one way or antother, like with the aforementioned emblems, would encourage CnC. Or perhaps we could get an unique "like" button only available in the Custom Cards section for people to click on when they see a good card or review.

But, as Adora already pointed out, the main problem is that currently there are few YCMers who actually know about YGO, or care about reviewing; and those who do have been gradually leaving or dropping activity lately. The situation is kind of hopeless because even if rewards for reviewers are implemented, I bet most of the YCM community wouldn't care anyways.

All you need to do is just mention something related to how the card is designed or something along those lines; 2-3 sentences is fine.

We don't require that you write an entire essay explaining your thoughts, but elaboration does help.

As for these ideas (recognize good reviewers + so on), they've been discussed with Zex, Striker/.Saber (while both were still CC mods); but not much came out of it. Think this was brought up with Nai upon her own promotion, but can't say for certain.

I suppose the lack of CnC could be attributed to misinterpreting the Advanced Clause, even though we toned it down after I got promoted [along with Saber, etc]. As Kate noted, a lot of members just make cards and not really speak on their design; only a handful actually do (and even some of the vets are cutting back on it. Or in terms of certain cards, they're not sure what to say about it.

[I'll say this again: While knowledge on the metagame is helpful, it's not required when you review stuff]

Could also be the mentality of said new members at times; we give suggestions + critique, but a few of them fail to follow through and make the necessary fixes, so we said "screw it" and went on with our lives.

As for the Report button, we more or less would like it used for actual rulebreaks. For the positive ideas, you can just PM one of the CC mods directly [fyi, we DO read our PMs].

On a secondary note, this can also be applied to the Written sections; given those areas are also dead of late.
