[SPOILER=Plot] In Tokyo, there used to be several Duel Academies across the area, and they used to be popular all around... However, the closure of all Duel Academies are imminent. This means that all Duel Academies from around Tokyo are closing down, if this problem isn't dealt with now, then the students will revert back to their ordinary lives with Duel Monsters. But fear not, we will be taking everyone overseas where they can duel a bit more. We're escaping from Tokyo because of the epidemic that caused Duel Academies across the area to close down. In here, you are either a student or a teacher who is preparing to go to an overseas academy all based on theories of dueling. We will start off by focusing on academies in three countries: Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and Ireland. All of which are open for potential duelists. These are the three countries you will be landing on upon departing from Tokyo. It's a lenient journey, but you won't be alone there. There are three opposing factions you will have to face, all of which focuses on chasing after the students and teachers of academies from around the world. Those factions are the replicas; datas and the lingering. Phoneys I know, but they are not to be underestimated. Unfortunately though, you don't get to pick these factions as they are hardly any different to each other, they will also hunt you down like there isn't a tomorrow. You will almost always run into them and in most cases, you will have to duel them too. Try and avoid such a situation. Since the three factions are dangerous anyway, we have come up with high-tech equipment to prepare you for the dangers up ahead. Make sure your souls aren't eaten by them, if you do, the replicas, datas and the lingering will dominate. Not to mention, their decks are pretty powerful. "To survive Duel Academy overseas.. You must face the dangers ahead. If you don't face the dangers, you will die. Literally." This is by far the darkest Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, but it doesn't mean they can take all the fun. All you needed to do is take control. And so, in order to study or teach in one of our overseas academies, you will need to apply for a place or a job. We also need to sort out your accommodation and everything you need to survive going overseas, there may be places where food is quite limited, but teh experience you will take from studying abroad will be the one to remember. Just make sure you make it out alive. [/SPOILER] [SPOILER=Setting] The setting is reminiscent to the real world. Just imagine your characters is in the countries we're in now. You'll get the picture. You will start of in Tokyo, Japan. This is the country that is filled with epidemic that came from across the world. No one knows what it wants or what it is. No one knows about the epidemic except for doctors from around the world, even though they're responsible for finding a fix to this. You will focus on three countries first. This will be increased up to ten as the RP progresses. The first three countries will be as follows: Hong Kong: This will cover Kowloon, Sham Shui Po, Mong Kok and Choi Hung. This is the only country where Duel Academies are of high standard and high class. Because of that, lectures are pretty much pointless, it's all theory and you don't get the chance to duel teachers. Ireland: This will cover Shannon and County Mayo. This is the country where all the people supply alcohol. Don't you even think about drinking there though. The policy in Ireland is pretty strict about this stuff.. They find you drinking, and they will fly you back to Japan. Period. You don't wanna go back there. Lecture wise, it's alright. Once or twice a year, may you duel a teacher. United Kingdom: This will only cover England for the moment. England will cover Portsmouth, London, Liverpool and Newcastle. This is also a high class country where teachers expect nothing less than perfect. Their lectures are also useless. You have little chance of practical work and assignments are dull and heavy. Inn that country, you are expected to write no less than 3000 words per assignment. This will wear you out. Big time. [/SPOILER] [SPOILER=Rules] 1. Post in near-perfect grammar, please. Spell check your work and proof read before you submit them, I won't be the one responsible if you make a mistake. 4. Advanced Clause is compulsory, so 4 lines of text at the very least. The longer the better I suppose, but then again, don't make your posts too long or other people will take forever thinking of a post and that won't be good. 5. IF you decide to become absent for any reason during the RP, you must PM me with your reason. 6. Multiple characters are allowed in this RP, but ONLY if I have accepted your first. 7. Make your applications tidy, delete everything in parenthesis. Failure to do that, and I'll simply ask you to edit your app. 8. This RP runs a first come, first serve basis, so make sure you secure your place. Whether your application is finished or not, make sure it is checked by our RP hosts or co-hosts before submitting officially. PMing the app to your host always works, but for advice only. Make sure you submit your app to this thread whether you finish it or not. 9. Make your deck realistic please. If you have a custom deck, list down the cards used in your application. 10. There may be mild violence in this RP, but no profanity may be used from 8 AM until 10 PM (Your local time) when you post. [/SPOILER] [SPOILER=Application] Name: Age: Gender: Occupation: Appearance: (A paragraph consisting of 7+ lines) Personality: (A paragraph consisting of 7+ lines) Duel Disk: (A picture or a brief description explaining it's appearance) Biography: (A paragraph consisting of 10+ lines) Signature Deck Type: Desired Country/Region: (For example: England/Portsmouth) [/SPOILER] [SPOILER=Sample Application] Name: Kane Underwood Age: 19 Gender: Male Occupation: Unemployed (Prior to teaching abroad) Appearance: Pale skin tone and a very strong build, just like every other bodybuilder, so much that he looks like he had been taking in 20,000 calories and burning them all back down to muscle, however he was still slim enough to be deemed fit though, most of the muscles have been developed from the excess skin and fat he once had. He has blonde hair for starters, brown eyes and measures himself at six feet. Quite the tall guy. He also weighs himself at nineteen stone, again referring to the fact that he has been body building. He wears a ripped tank top on his torso and a pair of jeans to accompany his looks. He also brings with him a pair of gloves and wraps himself with bandages. Every other optional items include a tattoo on his right arm, a cut on his left cheek which left the scar itself permanent after dealing with a naked flame up close, it doesn't really affect he wears contact lenses as well, but only occasionally as one would think those contacts would damage his eyes even further when in fact it doesn't affect him that much. In the end, he brings a pair of glasses with him anyway, in case he couldn't see from far distances . He isn't great at seeing one or two things, poor him. While his left leg is pure flesh, his right leg is fake, which means he has prosthetics made from real ruby, platinum and glazed to perfection. The rarest form of prosthetics you will find nowhere else except through Kane himself and even that costs a lot of money to manufacture. Personality: Kane is a passive-aggressive person. He likes to be opinionated, but never does so in front of people in case he fears damaging his own reputation. He used to be a carefree person who thinks he could do whatever he wants with his life but that was no more. After being taken into the world that we are about to embark in, Gnorfiend, he has little or no clue about what it's going to be like so in his case, he tries to maintain an outgoing personality. Kane is also a glutton, and tries anything to eat as much as he can and because he eats a lot, he exercises just as much even when fighting so he burns off all the excess calories. He has no problem communicating with comrades but he tends to plan things on his own first before doing so. With that, he can be quite organised in the sense that he most dislikes filth, whenever he sees dirt anywhere, he would compromise and clean up after the one responsible. However, the kindness that Kane would give is limited as well. If anyone would think it's okay to give Kane a hard time, he also has no problem trying to pin them down and give them a good scolding or in the worst case scenario, try to knock them out unintentionally though this will almost never happen providing that Kane keeps his cool. He also has a patience problem as well, but that doesn't tend to be displayed until later on. He never waits longer than an hour for anything, for everyone's information. Duel Disk: Biography: Born in the outside world to English parents, Kane is in fact an orphan. His family died when he was just two years old, and as a result, a guardian was hired to take Kane in, and moved to Japan as well. At five years old, he began training self defense to the point where he can fight off against up to 50 thousand people, but that was the result after he turned twelve, at that point, he started lifting weights out of pressure and out of competition to see how strong he was during exercises, in which his guardian was observing. That was also when he started learning about dueling, which he took several exams from his Guardian. Kane was also born an esper, which gave him the ability to manipulate outside objects and emit fire, electricity or provide water and is also capable of hand to hand combat as well as fighting alongside his Duel Spirits. He was given a nickname Suffocated Gravekeeper by his Guardian a year later to represent his suppressions and emotions that take control of him. Later that year, when he became a carefree person, he is used to doing whatever he wished and no one would actually complain. It is unknown whether those feelings are unwavering or lingering, but he didn't care either way. He kept the name 'Suffocated Gravekeeper' even at the age he is in now and by the age of fourteen, he had gained a six-pac from pure exercise and calorie burning alone. Now, at the age of nineteen, weighing in at 19 stone and measuring at about six feet and that was when people started wandering why the hell he grew so tall. When he found out that Academies from all over Japan are shutting down due to an epidemic, he decided to take his deck out, a Lightsworn deck that he started using recently and flew back to England, taking every last bit of his belongings. He now resides on Portsmouth, a popular touring town, now quiet and peaceful and ends up attending a University there that covers dueling. Believe it or not, the lecturers are useless and don't know half of what they are talking about. He's super attracted by the Supernatural and the non-real. He also loves to read Creepypastas and Urban Legends. His hobbies are reading, playing videogames, surfing the internet, photography and writing. He loves fairytales to DEATH! He isn't very active, actually he dislikes with passion sports, and could do everything to do less sports as possible. He's pretty calm, but he's also hot-headed at times. For his hobbies and likes of the supernatural he sometime gets called weirdo, but he doesn't like that term, he prefers the term Extravagant. He can be very sarcastic, and offend people without actually meaning to hurt them. Alexander's quite shy with people he doesn't know, but when you get to know him better he's very open (sometimes too much). Once he meets a friends he'll do everything possible to not lose him/her. With him he always carries his trusty Polaroid to catch photos of cool things around him. His dream is to prove that the Lochness monster exists, by taking a picture of him, even though he knows that it might not exists, he's faithful in that and still believes in Nessie. He also hates rude people and hypocrites. Since he lived for some time in various places all over the world, his accent is always all-over the place mixing accents from everywhere he lived. He's also very smart, being always one of the best in his class. He doesn't like the meta, he prefers very much underdog decks because they aren't linear and it's fun to discover cool combos. Duel Disk: [spoiler=" "] [/spoiler] Biography: Alexander was born in Scotland and lived there for 8 years, he then lived in Ireland for 3 years, he lived 4 years in France and 3 years in Japan, where he lives now. His father is an important business-man and that made his family travel a lot around the world. Since he needed to move often from a place to another, he doesn't have any best friend since after he would have moved he'd never encounter him/her again. He now lives in an apartment in Tokyo, but without his family, he decided to move and live alone, because he didn't want to move somewhere else. His parents approved his decision, and helped him pay the apartment. He attended a Duel Academy since he was 10 years old, didn't matter where, because he attended one wherever he lived. His love of urban legends and of the supernatural came from when he was 7 years old, he still lived in Scotland and his family decided to go on a trip to the Lochness Lake, there his father told him the legend of Nessie, the monster of Lochness, and he loved it! Wherever he went he asked his father if there was some sort of myth or something related to that place. He didn't attend any real school, just Duel Academies, because he was homeschooled, that's also the reason why he doesn't have many friends. Even though he's been living in Tokyo for 3 years, he still is fascinated a lot by the culture and everything, and he seems a tourist from how many pictures he takes. When he heard that Duel Academies, even the one that he's attending, in the zone of Tokyo were closing, Alexander was super sad, because he thought that he would never duel again, so when he learnt of this overseas Duel Academy thing, he applied for it immediately, and was more than ready. It was a dream coming true, traveling all around the world while dueling, and maybe learning about the culture of the places he visits. He knows for sure that if it's possible he wants to see again his homeland Scotland, to see how it changed, but in his to-visit list he wants to visit maybe Mexico to learn all about their fascinating culture and maybe also come back to Ireland. So he started packing his bags, and was more than ready to go on this adventure! His eye colour changes, depending on his mood. He usually wears the casual clothes on the left, but sometimes likes to change it up and slip into the clothes on the right.[/spoiler] [spoiler=Personality:] Although he is an ace student at his Duel Academy, Michael loves to provoke and generally annoy others. His dragon deck reflects how he wishes to be in the future, which is a strong and unstoppable force. Michael finds dueling with friends quite boring, and loves to challenge tough duelists, such as his mentors. Michael jumped at the idea to travel overseas, since he believed that he would finally have the opportunity to face some truly difficult duelists who would push him to his limit. He is usually upbeat and happy, but becomes especially excited when he engages in an exciting duel. He likes to get cocky in duels, and tries to make his opponent have an embarrassing loss, thus he messes around with his dragons and completely overkilling his opponents.. Michael wishes to never forget any of his duels, as he sees them all as important in one way or another. He also believes that although a duelist should have fun with their duel monsters, they must also treat them with the utmost respect. He believes that rude and disrespectful duelists should all burn in hell, and that misfortune should come to all of them. He sees dueling as a sort of sacred game. [/spoiler] [spoiler=Duel Disk:] [/spoiler] [spoiler=Biography:] Michael received his very first duel monsters card on his first birthday: Mythic Water Dragon. This card helped Michael begin on his quest towards making the ultimate dragon-type deck. Michael grew up dueling against friends and family, though he quickly overpowered his friends decks and by the age of eight his parents realized that he might have potential as a championship-winning duelist. His duel disk was custom made for him on his fifth birthday by his father, and he thinks of it as "His mark of a true duelist." Michael won many of his cards through duels against bullies with the ante rule in play, and he won each and every match against them. His opponents were, to quote him, "Pathetic and Boring." His brand new collection of Level 8 dragons made him change his deck into an Ultimate Dragon Deck, instead of his usual High Level Monster Deck, which he usually used and had relied upon for quite some time. Michael made his way through his Duel Academy relatively easily, acing all of his exams and winning almost all of his duels. This was all until hearing the news about Duel Monster schools shutting down around Japan. This made Michael extremely concerned that he would have to start living a boring, regular life, one without the brilliance that was duel monsters. But, when Michael was given the chance to travel overseas it made him extremely excited and provoked him to start dueling even more than he already was (Which was a lot). Azure Wolf Posted March 6, 2015 Report Share Posted March 6, 2015 [spoiler='Arana Hirro'] Name: Arana Hirro Age: 17 Gender: Female Occupation: Student/Cashier Appearance: [spoiler="Face shot"][/spoiler] Arana is just above average height for her age at 5' 7". Her reddish brown eyes and red hair have made her easy to distinguish from others. She usually wears a white t-shirt under a thin brown coat, black tracksuit bottoms and dark grey finger less gloves. On her right hand she wears two rings, both made of silver and one has a small ruby in it. When in classes she keeps most of her hair tied back in a ponytail, while outside of classes, Arana lets her hair down into its natural, slightly boyish form. Personality: Arana is a faker. She usually will fake her emotions while hiding her true ones. Most of the time she keeps up a persona of a calm and collected person which nothing would seem to faze, though when lightly provoked she will make a joke out of it and try to leave, though if she is heavily provoked she will answer in kind. The same is also for compliments, she will make a joke out of them if she believes they aren't real but will accept and return them if she thinks they are real. She can be reckless and quick to act if she has gotten bored of waiting for something to happen, but will usually stay calm despite wanting to move around. Arana stands in a grey area on most arguments, and was a decent mediator while she was younger. She takes a deep interest in melee weapons and magic, which has inspired her dream of creating a martial art which can combine the two. While she hasn't seen the magic she is looking for, despite her being told numerous times it doesn't, Arana wants to find it and learn how. Despite believing in magic, Arana is adamant that supernatural things exist, when told this she replies that magic is completely natural and we just don't know how to use it. Arana is slightly lazy and rarely does much academic work outside of school, but still is a above average student. Arana also has a soft spot for canines, particularly red foxes. Arana doesn't like seeing people get hurt but at the same time likes knowing that people are worse off than her. Arana lives by the words "Surround yourself with a shell and you will crack, but instead surround yourself with friends and nothing will crack you." [spoiler='Duel Disk: '][/spoiler] Biography: Arana was born in Tokyo to a Irish father and Japanese mother. Her father runs a small convenience store that sells home brewed Irish beer, and he mother works as a teacher in the nearby high school. Arana was always interested in cards and while she was younger she believed that some cards had the power to open gates to other worlds. Upon discovering Duel Monsters, Arana dropped her theory of otherworldly gates and focused on trying to prove elemental magics. When she was able, Arana started attending the closest Duel Academy to try and increase her dueling skills. Upon entering her father gave her the deck she still uses to this day. Shortly after enrolling Arana made quite a few friends but was mainly made fun of because of her belief in magic, despite this she just laughed it off and went about her business. After her 16th birthday Arana started working in her father's shop as a cashier as well as selling her home made cookies. Spending most of her time working or at school, Arana started drifting more away from her friends and started to fake what she thought about them. Reaching the end of her time at the Academy, she heard that the Academies in Tokyo were closing down and they would have to transfer to another branch. Checking the list of available places she saw Ireland was on the list. Always wanting to visit Ireland due to the stories her father told her, Arana made up her mind to go there. She wasn't really bothered about the policies there, she had no reason to try and break them and she would be able to look around the local area while she was there. Not really caring about where her friends would choose, Arana packed up a suitcase with a couple of extra sets of clothing and other necessities, Arana then proceeded to empty half her bank account and exchanged it from Yen to Euro.
