Dragons, Adorable Dragons! (Archetype: Syntheticals)

Major's Shadow

Recommended Posts

Ahoy ya'll! Good to see ya again, after DP's extended leave of absence. After looking at some of the DP lore, I got inspired to make a more mythological-style of archetype that's very unique and fun to play! I took a lot of the artwork from The-SixthLeafClover (her artwork is masterful, btw), to whom I will provide a link to. Now then, hope I get lots of feedback, as I will be soon testing this in DP. Here we go:

What are the “Syntheticals?”

                                                                                                                                                img_1221244306526_3731.jpg
The Syntheticals are a breed of hyper-intelligent dragons that were raised in an isolated Solar System, which the Negators nicknamed “Excess”, referring to the planet’s wealth of natural resources. Each plain of land is split between the four major elements: Water, Wind, Earth, and Fire. These elements were retained in their purest states, before the invasion of the Negators. Each faction of the lands was controlled by the Grand Dragons, whom were all controlled under the Tier Dragon which controlled both the Darkness and the Light within this space, forming an unusual harmony of all elements. The planet was stumbled upon the crossfire of the war-ridden Light and Dark factions, and due to this, became a battleground for each side attempting to horde the resources. The Grand Dragons attempted to ward off the danger, yet sadly, could not combat the highly refined and weaponized threats, and were killed off before becoming corrupted. The children of these Grand Dragons hid within the core of the planet, hibernating away from the imposing threats conquering their planet… all except 1. This young dragon was the offspring of the Darkness and the Light, raised by the Tier Dragon, and a mutt that was highly desired by the Negators, for its unique abilities to discern the locations of both Light and Dark entities in a given area. After successfully conquering the planet "Excess", the Negators corrupted and trained this young offspring to bend to their whim, falling prey to the Negator’s sickening conquests. Yet, it still stayed conscious, desiring the company of its friends, tripping over a grey and bleak area as the young dragon attempted to stay pure to return to her former state. Until the day has come, the remaining young dragons will rest in the womb of their planet, synthesizing with the unnatural elements spewed across the industrialization of its surface, and evolving to combat this interstellar threat known as the Negators.

Did you just bumb a thread 4 hours after posting it?

Also, I think the idea behind this is really interesting, but I worry about the synergy with cards like Hand Destruction (or is it card Destruction)

I wasn't sure how long a bump was required, but it was more like 8 hours or so, since I bumped it the morning after I posted it late that night. Also, there is synergy issues with Reasoning, Monster Gate, Hand Destruction, Into The Void, and so on. To prevent this, I may change the "Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set" clause to something else, although I haven't quite thought of it yet. Suggestions?

Change
While this card is in your Graveyard,
To, if this card is in your graveyard, by the effect of a synethetical card.
or something

Ehh, Don't want to kill the deck entirely. I'll probably remove the clause of "Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set", and replace it with "This card may only be Normal Summoned/Set if you control another "Synthetical" monster", so that it avoids loops and exploits. I'll do some testing and see what works.

Bump!

  • Added new Field Spell card: Synthetical Plains
  • Tweaked OCG for Synthetical lvl. 1 Monsters, which now have revealing as cost, rather than condition. The fusion summoning effect is also universally OPT, and requires you to Banish equal to the level, rather than greater or equal to.
  • Tweaked Normal Summon/Set conditions for lvl. 1 Synteticals to be only while you control a Synthetical monster
  • Synthetical Feasting Ground now only treats monsters as Synthetical cards, rather than all cards in Opponent's grave
  • Synthetical Fusion no longer a Quick-Play, but works for on-field or in-graveyard.
  • Synthetical Preparations now has a Discard 1 cost to use
  • Synthetical Liberty now only sends the cards that were excavated to the Graveyard. Now you may only control 1 copy at a time.
  • Synthetical Luxuary now adds Spell/Trap cards from Graveyard instead of Deck to Hand.
  • Manipulator of the Synthetical Plains has 3600 atk instead of 3700, and requires 8 cards instead of 6 cards to Fusion Summon.
