So I just had an interesting game yesterday.

I'm playing with Oloro and I tutor Sorin and take the Kaalia player down to 10 life. Next turn he plays Kaalia with Haste, attacks Sorin and drops Resolute Archangel, bringing him back to 40. I was quite low myself, and next turn I topdeck a clone so I go up to 40 again, courtesy of his Archangel. On the next turn, I use Memory Plunder on his Yawgmoth's Will, return Sorin, bring him back to 10, and he doesn't have a way to blink Archangel. So next turn I play Debt to the Deathless and win.

Discuss the power of this card in EDH, and the character in general :3

Pretty decent card for any player who has the space to run him, and a good out to ridiculously powerful lifegain (for example, Oloro). In EDH you'd generally only run him for that -3 since nobody likes getting Mindslavered and will go out of their way to try and stop Sorin from getting his ulti.

This card should say "half starting life total" to be totally honest.

I agree. I wish there could be a feasible way of implementing a rule to adjust life total thresholds, but it's difficult to tell where you'd set it at. For example, Felidar Sovereign says "you win at 40 life," which is 20 more than normal, but also twice that sum. If the sum were to be adjusted in EDH, would it become 60 or 80? Hard to tell objectively.

And yeah, both Sorin and Magister Sphinx are dick move cards in EDH. Sorin's a pretty chill character, though.
