FINA-FWUKING-LLY! I've been waiting for them to start putting up spoilers for this set.

Heh, what's the bet that Chandra's the one that smacked into this guy? :P Would help further explain her relative disregard for the law, hehe.

It's Gideon's mentor, apparently. Makes sense, Hixus is clearly a Theros name, and he's got a glowing Heliod sword.

Wouldn't be played in Constructed regardless of stats, but is a ludicrously good Limited bomb. Anything over 3/3 would be fine as a casual rare.

It's effect would allow you beat Double Strike and it's a flashable commander? I like that. A friend of mine loves to use Double Strike commander kills to pull some wins.

and a Prison Warden as Kytheon's mentor? Guessing he got into trouble alot or something? That seems odd though. Guess will have to wait for the story

tl;dr Gideon was basically part of a Robin Hood-esque gang (since he was a poor orphan), was stealing food from rich Akroans, got caught by city guards, sent to prison. In prison, stood up against the injustices and violence amongst the inmates, got noticed by Hixus for being actually kinda righteous. Hixus started teaching him hieromancy, the art of law magic.

Ahh, that makes sense. I think I probably should have knew that but it must have slipped my mind. Eagerly looking forward to seeing the rest.

So we are gonna get Ecaj? Jace's Astral Twin Brother that got absorbed into Jace's Mind blocking his memories of ever existing?

You can do better than flipping Jace's name backwards to come up with a mythical entity like that, which I don't recall ever existing...and I've been pouring over the guy's history as I've been playing as him in the GCRP, so I half an excuse for doing so.

I actually wanted to named it Ace then I thought...too One Pieceish...and too "lol Ace is Jace without J"

But Yeah I made that out...sounded like an interesting plot twist? (That and present day Nicol Bolas ripping the Evil Twin from Jace's Mind and making it his ally)

Unfortunately for Jace, I suspect that he'd be the evil twin of the pair. :P

Considering he is literally in charge of the peace for an entire plane, he is now just about as good as they get.

As for Hixus, he has potential as a mono-white control commander, since when he is in the command zone he highly discourages attacking while you have 5 mana open. Looks like a ton of fun to be perfectly honest, and putting a mechanic like flash on an intro-pack promo is a bold move, though very much one I would expect from Magic Origins

As a commander player, I don't think he'll get there. He'll be cool in your Oblivion Ring tribal decks, but not heading them. The fact you have to get hit first before he locks up some dudes and the fact that all those dudes are just a kill spell away from returning makes him pretty bad for a general. The second point is made especially more detrimental if they have a lot of good EtB effects.

I don't know about Constructed, but I'm placing bets on no. Though I've been surprised by cards like this finding their way somewhere.
