The Bridges I Burn

Saw the picture on DeviantArt, and decided to make a card based on the adage 'May the bridges I burn light the way'.

[spoiler= Lore]

Once per turn, if a monster(s) on your side of the field would be destroyed; You can negate the destruction, and if you do, place 1 Light the Way Counter on this card. During each of your opponent's End Phases, lose 500 LP for each Light the Way Counter on this card, or destroy this card. During your Main Phase 1: You can send this card to the Graveyard, then shuffle cards from your Graveyard and/or your cards that were banished into the Deck equal to the number of Light the Way counters that were on this card. (This card cannot be added to the Deck by its own effect).

OK, so the negating destruction effect is meant to show that it's fine to make mistakes (with an OPT for balance), but the losing LP makes it clear that it was a mistake, but even still, they have consequences - however, the ability to destroy the card instead shows that you can still redeem yourself from making another mistake. The shuffling of cards that were banished or sent to the Graveyard represents the 'light the way' section of the adage, showing that it is possible to use one's past failures as a guideline for the future - it allows you to 'try again' to summon/activate the cards that were destroyed or banished.

So, what's your point?

What he means is, that since the damage increases each turn, and it isn't a maintenance cost, this card can kill you. If you were to make it a maintenance cost, then it would be destroyed automatically if you didn't have enough LP to pay.

Flavor-wise, this is brilliant. I really like this card and the concept behind it. I am not sure that the wording quite fits PSCT, though (only th graveyard/banished clause). I might try wording it like this:

During your Main Phase 1: You can send this card to the Graveyard, then shuffle cards from your Graveyard and/or your cards that were banished into the Deck equal to the number of Light the Way counters that were on this card. (This card cannot be added to the Deck by its own effect)

This rewrite makes it so that this card cant be added to the deck from the banished cards OR the graveyard. It also prevents you from adding your opponent's banished cards into your own deck. If those things were intentional, then the adding your opponent's cards to your deck is a little OP in my opinion. Either way, that's my two cents on the card

I understand now. I thought he meant that it should have both a maintenance cost as well as the other cost, which would be cost overkill. Alright, how about I make the card text:

Once per turn, if a monster(s) on your side of the field would be destroyed; You can negate the destruction, and if you do, place 1 Light the Way Counter on this card. During each of your opponent's End Phases, lose 500 LP for each Light the Way Counter on this card, or destroy this card. During your Main Phase 1: You can send this card to the Graveyard, then shuffle cards from your Graveyard and/or your cards that were banished into the Deck equal to the number of Light the Way counters that were on this card. (This card cannot be added to the Deck by its own effect).

Well, I was thinking it would only be a one or two turn thing, but on reflection, that's probably not useful for the meta, therefore you'd have to keep it out for a couple of turns, and I can see how that'd kill you. This card with Prime Material or Rainbow Life would be quite good, I think. You'd be able to negate the destruction, as well as gain LP instead of lose it. Anyway, I'll change the effect, thanks for your input c:
