“Our lives have always been dictated by the stars. Since time immemorial, we have celebrated the omens that smile upon us from the night sky. Yet not always are the fates kind...”

Welcome to Dunhaven, a country on the continent known only as “the Dusk.” Wracked by powerful storms and hostile biomes, the Dusk has for the longest time encouraged isolation amongst its civilizations that nevertheless compete for resources. You are a member of the Midnight Caravan, a merchant/mercenary airship crew that is run by Gaius Montague - a member of one of the Royal Houses who is in a bid for power to make sure his House survives. As you travel across the Dusk and its lands under the royal banner, you find yourself drafted into a expedition to strike against the neighboring country, which if successful will bring Dunhaven prosperity - and you, great fortune. However, one of your party has seen etched in the stars a terrible end to this journey, and knowing how prophecy has played such a role in human history, you’re not too sure you want to continue.

Now ascend to the stage, ye twelve, upon whom the curtain of our story rises...


[spoiler=Rules and Regulations]1. This will be a limited acceptance roleplay: 12 characters at max. Each player may control up to two characters, but I will accept only one from each player to start. (Please see the encyclopedia for the rationale.)
2. I'll accept applications until I feel like we have enough. No reservations aside from staff, either. If you're competing for a slot... tough.
3. As gamesmaster, my rules and verdicts are absolute. While you are more than welcome to dispute them, I am just as welcome to ignore you.
4. I will accept and turn down characters as I see fit. If I don’t feel your character is suitable for a certain role, I may ask you to change things before I fully accept.
5. At least 100 words per IC post, no script formatting, and don’t just copy/paste characters. I wrote the rules. Follow them.
6. Please only join this roleplay if you intend to be in it for the long run. I’ve no tolerance for those that drop off the face of the planet. If I need to keep pestering you to post, it’s much easier for me to retgone your character and open the spot up for someone else.
7. Post at least once per week, ideally at least once every 2-3 days. If not, I’ll invoke the previous rule.

Occupation: Aristocrat and captain of the HRS Midnight. This entire undertaking was mostly of Gaius’ design, so he’s the one keeping the strings untangled and everyone in line. However, this means that he is at the call of the Council should the mission prescribed to him fails, which given his current circumstances is something that he wants to avoid at all costs.

Weaponry:

  • Pistol: If Gaius needs to dispatch someone more efficiently and his fists are not good enough, he’s not above just shooting them. A long pistol is kept in a side harness under his jacket, to be withdrawn at the right moments. The extended length of the barrel meant that it can hit more accurately at larger distances, but it also means that at short distances the weapon can become unwieldy and difficult to aim.

Aptitudes:

  • Savate: That said, Gaius is one hell of a scrapper. His preferred style, as taught to him by a combat tutor, is savate, which combines boxing punches with whip-like foot kicks that can send opponents flying. His forms have been well-honed over time: however, he’s unskilled in forms meant to deal lethal blows as they were ones that were not deemed necessary for him to be trained in. Th us, if push comes to shove, he’s got a gun.
  • Crown Authority: Even though House Montague has fallen somewhat in prestige over the recent years, its name still bears weight. Gaius knows all the tricks and privileges that the name grants him, and he knows just where to apply pressure therein to get them to work. Just the right words will often yield the right results from anyone he needs, and if they resist… well, he’s got other methods to crack them.

Appearance: [Base Image] Standing at 5"6 and weighing roughly 120 lbs, Sybir is rather shorter and lighter than the average male of his age. His build is lean and wiry with hardly any excess body fat, thanks to his fast-acting metabolism and constant physical activity. His complexion is rather pale and almost porcelain-like, which, when paired with his delicate features, gives him a childishif not girlishappearance (much to his own chagrin). His hair is reddish brown and is worn in the style depicted above, with sideswept bangs and long sideburns that frame his face. Being unable to grow a full beard, he usually opts for a clean-shaven look. His eyes are hazel, changing color depending upon the amount of light, and almond-shaped, with thick lashes.

Sybir's usual outfit is depicted above, consisting of a light-weight metal breastplate, shoulder pads, gauntlets, and rotating leg guards, worn over a long-sleeved shirt and cloth pants, paired with a tattered black scarf tied around his neck. Minimalist in nature, his armor is intended to protect key areas from critical injury while maximizing flexibility and acrobatic movement.

Personality: Soft-spoken and secretive, Sybir tends to avoid direct prolonged interaction with most members of the HRS Midnight, preferring to keep to himself as he flits about the ship. Despite this, he has a rather unnerving habit of appearing when least expected, particularly at (what are supposed to be) private gatherings. More than one crew member has finished telling a long story to a few close friends, only to jump in surprise and utter an oath when Sybir stands up ("Wasn't that chair empty before?!") and murmurs his gratitude for the recital with a wry smile. Although some might consider him sinister, he merely acts according to his twisted sense of playful humor and seeks to keep the rest of the crew on their toes, both physically and mentally. As a result, he often speaks in cryptic phrases or idioms (some of them entirely of his own invention), with the occasional veiled threat thrown in for good measure. Although he would never admit it, he deeply enjoys his position and the leverage it provides him with, often choosing to play up his unique aura of mystery.

Having said that, there is much more to this sweet-talking feline than meets the eye. His horrific childhood growing up on the streets of Dunhaven's capital city, practically starving and fighting to survive, stunted more than just his growth—it permanently crippled his ability to form lasting relationships with others based on trust. For all his pleasant wit and tongue-in-cheek humor, Sybir is deeply cynical, only all too familiar with the dark side of human nature. He views most people as innately flawed and selfish beings—himself included—who are undeserving of redemption and incapable of nobility. The one exception to this rule, of course, is Captain Montague, who forms the center of idolatry of Sybir's small world and can do no wrong in his eyes. Sybir's feelings towards the captain are complicated and difficult to describe, consisting of a bizarre mix of admiration, irreverence, physical attraction, and jealousy. Especially jealousy, for all the unimaginable luxuries that Captain Gaius had growing up as the eldest son of House Montague. Despite this, he has never acted upon these feelings for fear of rejection. The situation is further complicated by his history of abuse as a child, which makes physical and emotional intimacy a problem. This means that while he isn't a virgin, he's a complete novice when it comes to romance and matters of the heart. Sybir is unsure how much Captain Montague may know or suspect; for the time being, the only person he's confided in is the ship's cook, with whom he enjoys a special friendship.

History: Sybir's story is nothing special, merely another of Sorrelhale's countless street urchins who managed to survive until adulthood—or so he thinks. The product of an affair with a working-class seamstress, Aerith Weaver, Sybir is the illegitimate son of Lord Ignatius Peverell, the head of House Peverell, which forms part of the aristocratic Council of Houses of Dunhaven. Enchanted by Aerith's youthful beauty and deeply disillusioned with his own arranged marriage to a much older woman, Lord Peverell plied her with gifts, eventually succeeding in wooing her. Although Lord Peverell tried to convince Aerith to end her pregnancy once he became aware of it, she refused. Unfortunately, however, she died shortly after giving birth. Convinced that her death was punishment for bearing a child out of wedlock, none of her family stepped forward to claim the baby boy. Unwilling to risk his reputation with a scandal, Lord Peverell also pulled away, cutting off all ties and leaving the newborn Sybir alone. Now an orphan for all purposes, Sybir was taken in and raised by a local children's home, where he was given a rudimentary education, including basic writing. Yet government funding for the home was low and within a few short years, it was forced to closed down, its residents turned out to the streets once more.

Barely eight years old, the next few years of Sybir's life consisted of a miserable existence, fighting tooth and nail to survive. He learned early on that it was easier to steal food than to work for it, despite the strict punishments involved for thieves. His quick wits and even quicker reflexes were usually enough to earn his daily bread, but for those cold bitter nights when he had nothing to eat and no where to shelter, he had no option but to sell his body, often for nothing more than a warm place to curl up. There were plenty of strange men willing to take in a street rat for the night, provided certain favors were involved. He learned that quickly enough, too. By fourteen years old, however, Sybir was old enough and strong enough to fend for himself. Little by little, he began to cast a wider and more daring net of thievery, taking care not to tread on any neighboring toes. He made sure to keep to himself and keep his head down, only all too aware of the danger of joining neighborhood gangs.

Everything was going smoothly until one day, now seventeen years old, Sybir aimed a little bit too far and a little bit too high. While it was rumored to have fallen on hard times recently, House Montague still seemed like a veritable paradise to the young thief as he scaled its garden walls by night. He made it past the guards and inside the residence, snatching valuables as he went, until he was apprehended by none other than the young master Gaius himself. Although Sybir fully expected Gaius to turn him over to the authorities for execution, the young noble seemed to see something in him, a vague and nebulous sort of potential to become something else. Something more. From that moment on, Sybir entered Gaius' personal service, training in combat and further developing his thieving skills in order to aid his master in his quest to restore his family's fortune, legally or otherwise. Eventually, Gaius presented Sybir with a personalized suit of armor as a reward for his loyalty and dedication. Now a member of the crew of the merchant/mercenary vessel the HRS Midnight, Sybir remains just as devoted to Captain Montague and just as willing to overcome any obstacle that threatens his happiness.

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Occupation: Sybir's role on the HRS Midnight is a bit of an anomaly; nevertheless, he considers himself to serve as the "Eyes and Ears" of Captain Montague. If the Quartermaster is responsible for keeping order on the ship and accounting for the crew's actions, then Sybir's job is accounting for their thoughts. Every murmur, every whisper, every rumor that passes between those aboard: Sybir hears them all, and reports directly to the captain. While his main responsibility is to neutralize any threat of mutiny, unlikely as it may seem, Captain Montague also realizes the value in knowing what his men are thinking and saying behind closed doors. By understanding their hopes, dreams, and fears, he is able to keep morale and productivity high. This position allows Sybir to make good use of his espionage skills, but it has made him rather unpopular with some of the crew, who view him with distrust. Sybir has absolutely no authority over anyone, making him in some ways the most low-ranking individual aboard; conversely, he is under no one else's authority, except for Captain Montague's.

Weaponry: Sybir's primary weapon is his body—that is to say, his armor, which serves both defensive and offensive purposes. His main weapons are two razor-sharp retractable steel blades (approximately 2 inches thick and 8 inches long, depicted above), mounted on cleverly-designed springs. Known as "Fist-Daggers," they are stored in a hidden compartment within his gauntlets and are triggered by a special switch at the wrist. The Fist-Daggers are excellent covert weapons that can be deployed at a moment's notice, allowing for sneak attacks. Although they cannot damage heavily armored targets, the blades are ideal for slicing and stabbing. They are specifically crafted to resist oxidation and are capable of parrying medium-strength blows from enemy weapons (though obviously, they are not as effective at this as say, a sword would be).

Apart from the Fist-Daggers, Sybir also employs his clawed gauntlets as additional melee weapons. Known as the "Cat's Claws," the digits of these gloves are sharp and wickedly hooked, making for a dangerous close-range combatant. In addition, they also allow him to scale certain kinds of materials (or in the worst case scenario, control and slow down his descent). While he is fairly comfortable wielding a sword and is a decent shot with a standard pistol, Sybir usually looks upon these weapons with disdain, considering them clumsy and far too obvious for any self-respecting thief.

Inventory:

  • Seven Tools of the Bandit: A small leather satchel, either stored in his personal quarters or worn around his waist, which contains a variety of equipment meant to aid in his thieving endeavors (rope, lock picks, smoke bombs, etc.).

Aptitudes:

  • Master Gymnast: As an orphan struggling to survive on the streets, Sybir quickly discovered that his slender frame lent itself easily to jumping, twisting, and climbing, as well as balancing on high places. Over the course of many years, he underwent rigorous training in order to maximize his acrobatic ability. Displaying remarkable aptitude in this respect, Sybir is capable of any number of flips, cartwheels and back-hand springs and also possesses an excellent sense of balance, complemented by his low center of gravity. His acrobatics make for a very unpredictable attack style.
  • Stealth: An ability honed from years' worth of dodging guards, lecherous old men and neighborhood gangsters, Sybir excels in slipping under the radar and avoiding unwanted attention. As a child, this skill most often took the form of moving silently, making himself as small as possible, and contorting to hide in unexpected places. As an adult, it manifests as a sort of dull modesty and studied dimwittedness, to be turned on or off as he pleases, depending on the situation. This ability comes in handy when scoping out the site of his next assignment.
  • Deception: Sybir is a born liar, capable of uttering the most outlandish falsehoods without batting an eye. His deceptive mastery goes beyond superficial control of his facial features and body language, going as far as to include his heart rate, which remains stable. This ability does have its limitations, however, especially when he is under tremendous amounts of physical or emotional stress.

[spoiler=Appearance:]Standing at a whopping 191cm (6' 3"), Zekera is easily the tallest of HRS Midnight's female crew members, and may even be the tallest crew member outright. Although this isn't surprising considering her sheer height, Zekera is also heavier than most women, weighing in at a grand total of 85kg (187lbs), although much of this extra weight comes from her muscle mass. Speaking of muscle mass, Zekera has a six-pack of abs that maybe visible should she have her midsection exposed. Zekera has a highly attractive figure to match the beauty of her face, her BWH measured at 32-26-29 if measured in inches and 81-66-74 if measured in centimeters. Her fiery red eyes light up when she has a heightened sense of energy and passion, only to simmer down when she becomes saddened.

 

Zekera was born with dark skin and blonde hair, but over the years her hair had lost all its color at a much faster rate than one would rationally expect. As a result, it's now completely white. On formal occasions, Zekera will tie her hair in a bun and secure it with a frilled band; when styled like this, it falls down to her shoulder blades at its maximum length. However, if she's in the mood for a more casual attire, Zekera will let her hair down so that it covers her entire back. Zekera has a choice of 4 dresses that she'll wear on any formal occasion; a white one, a yellow one, a red one and a black one, all of which are size 10 due to her muscle mass. However, she is rather disinterested in fashion, so if she just wants to wear something casual, then she'll just wear whatever top and whatever pants she can get her hands on.

[spoiler=Personality:]Zekera has always been one to broadcast however she's feeling at any particular instance, and makes no attempt to disguise her emotions. If she's happy, one can see a nice, big beaming smile on face. If she's sad, one can see the lack of gleam in her eyes, and if she's angry, one can see the glare of pure venom as well as the bared teeth. When someone starts to get on her nerves, Zekera has no problem spitting out the issues she has with them, and is certainly not afraid to be confrontational about it. However, Zekera is prone to wild mood swings, and out of everyone she's ever met, she tends to butt heads with those under the Leo and Virgo signs the most. Despite all this, Zekera always tries to maintain class with any confrontations she engages or is engaged in, only dropping all of such attempts when she personally is provoked.

 

Considering all her mood swings and her tendencies to be emotional at times, one would think that Zekera's state of mind wouldn't be fit for service on the HRS Midnight; but they'd be wrong, mostly because it's a train of thought that Zekera just won't accept. She is very focused on her job at hand, and she is very determined to prove what exactly she's capable of; furthermore, she won't allow anything to compromise her ability to perform her duties... or anyone for that matter. Aside from her being headstrong, Zekera is most notable for her ability to make split-second decisions on the fly, although several of them go against what others had already planned.

 

Another notable issue Zekera has is with punctuality; an issue that for the life of her she's never able to remember to correct. Often times she oversleeps or takes too long to wash up, and, once she realizes what the time is once she's done, ends up rushing around like a rhinoceros. However, in addition to her efforts being futile, she risks forgetting something that she'll only regret once she actually makes it to her supposed destination, or sometimes half way there. Despite all this, she ironically makes it just in time to steer the ship around a crucial corner on the current route, or away from any life-threatening situations. And she's determined to keep her job as helmsman despite always being a late arrival to the scene. She'll fight to the bitter end in that regard, and that's something you better believe.

[spoiler=History:]Records on Zekera Kahsai have always been scarce overall, and records on her childhood specifically are completely non-existent. However, what is known about her is that Zekera had been born on the lands of il-Shahil, and that she'd been living in poverty for the duration of the time she was living there. Despite the poverty, her family was doing alright for themselves due to their ability to live off the land... and things were going quite well considering, until suddenly famine struck when Zekera was around 8 years old.

Combat Information
Occupation: Zekera's main role as a crew member of HRS Midnight is that of the helmsman, physically steering the ship on the course that the navigator had already set, and away from storms that would heavily damage HRS Midnight should it be caught in the middle of them. However, due to previous experience as one, Zekera can always fill in as a substitute navigator should the actual navigator be unable to do his or her job for whatever reasoning.
Weaponry: Although she prefers to use her fists in order to inflict damage, Zekera does own a shotgun and will sometimes carry it on her back if she feels she may have a chance to get some target practice later, or if she's expecting unpleasant company. She'll only use it during gunfights, however.
Inventory: Empty-handed most of the time, but may carry some shotgun shells in one or two pockets.
Aptitudes:
  • Is able to fill in as a substitute navigator due to having experience as one. She also has the usual routes that each ship goes down committed to her memory, and thus knows them all like the back of her hand. If Zekera is unfamiliar with a specific route, chances are she'll stubbornly refuse to go down it.
  • Can make split-second decisions with ease, many of which have saved lives. However, each individual decision made this way has mixed results between the crew.
  • Has enough physical strength to throw a full-grown man several feet away from her, and is a highly competent brawler should that be necessary.

Tidbits of Trivia:

  • Zekera comes from a family of athletes; hence why she's taller than most everyone else in the world. She has an older sister who's slightly shorter than her, an older brother who's exactly the same height and a younger brother who vastly out-heightens even Zekera herself.
  • When conversing with significantly shorter persons than herself, Zekera will often bend forward, kneel or even a combination of the two aforementioned actions, just so her own eyes are on the same level. She does not like looking down on anyone, as this tends to give her difficulty making professional eye contact. This is especially true the closer the person that Zekera's trying to talk to and/or the shorter they actually stand.
  • Having been born around the middle of Burning, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that Zekera doesn't mind the excess heat. She has severe issues, however, with feeling too cold, almost to the point of cyrophobia. As such, Zekera tends to hog all the blankets during the colder months.

Truth...a terrible, beautiful thing. She would let spill the fate of dozens from her lips as if they were candies to throw away. I asked her once, 'Could you not say these disturbing things?' "One day she made a wrong prediction, and I laughed in her face. 'You are fallible after all,' I crowed. I treasure this memory, for it was the first time I saw a human being instead of a wraith. Her brow furrowed, and her eyes showed my reflection for once instead of the stars. 'I only said what I thought was right.' And it made me wonder...just how many of her predictions were educated guesses on her part? Had I been wrong to take her words as gospel? But the next day dawned, and her predictions were on point as usual, so I dismissed the matter from my head. Later, she admitted a sense of pride in her prophecies. That when the stars didn't send her messages, she would create some of her own, based on common sense and her knowledge of human beings. Personally, I think that ability to read others is far more valuable than seeing the future."

"She told me she was born a Rothschild, the youngest of seven. Shaking her head, she chuckled, 'They were wrong. You don't have to be the seventh son, after all.' I never did understand what she meant by that, but then again, a lot of her words went over my head. Her childhood was spent in hiding, as her parents feared for her life if she were to reveal it. She became akin to a princess in a tower, raised to distrust all those not of her family. Still, she was allowed select playmates, one of them being Gaius Montague. Her parents encouraged this friendship, entertaining fantasies of marriage and a direct connection to the Montague main line. 'What about you?' I asked. 'How did you feel about him?' At this a rare smile flitted across her face. 'He was special, because he accepted all of me.'
 
"'But it wasn't all roses,' she sighed. 'Later, Dunhaven learned how to harness the power of lightning itself. You must have heard of the Montague specialty. Whale oil has diminished in value ever since. They have been struggling of late, and after Gaius gave up his Council seat, well...' she breathed. 'My parents began to look elsewhere for marriage, though in truth, I had no interest in it, and I told them as such. Eventually, they gave up on the idea, most likely aided by my...unusual circumstances. After all,' her eyes glinted with some unknown emotion. 'Who would want to marry a magicker?'
 
"'So, no marriage. What then?' I asked her. She took a second to think, 'I did enter the Church of the Serpent...briefly. I suppose I became rather important,' she chuckled mirthlessly. 'I gained the title of priestess and likely would have become a bishop by now. Or at least a bishop-elect.' I asked her why she didn't stay with it. She wouldn't be required to marry then, nor would she have to worry about her social status. Yet her answer baffled me to the extreme. 'Isn't it obvious? Gaius had need of me, so I left. I work as a cook. I always enjoyed watching the castle chefs go about their work. I suppose a few of their tricks rubbed off on me.' From a priestess to a cook. What exactly had this Gaius done to deserve such loyalty? Or was this just a natural consequence of her odd personality? I would have to observe this further."

Lucia is a fairly short young woman standing at 5'4" (163cm) and weighing about 120 lbs (54 kg). Due to Dunhaven's sun being often obscured by the clouds Lucia has very pale skin much like many other inhabitants of Dusk. Lucia's eyes are an icy blue, and combined with her long thick eyelashes Lucia often draws the attention of men, at least those who are unfamiliar with her status as a "freak". Lucia keeps her blonde hair cut short, but thick allowing her hair to stay generally unkempt with no particular style. Despite being a very modest person a majority of the time Lucia does find some vanity in her natural appearance, and thus does not wear much make-up beyond red nail polish.

 

Lucia's clothing tends to consist of a simple blue, long-sleeved dress with a white lace trim that is bound around the waist and neck by two red ribbons. Lucia wears a third red ribbon through her hair as a hair band. Lucia's outfit is completed by a pair of long black tights, knit white socks, and brown boots.


[spoiler=Personality]Since she was very little Lucia has always seen her purpose in life to help others, and finds pleasure in engaging in charity work whenever the opportunity presents itself, however Lucia's true passion lies in finding solutions to problems so that people will no longer be troubled by them. A strong of egalitarian ideals, Lucia believes that all people from any walk of life should be treated equally and with compassion, and will accept anyone into her practice be they friend or foe. However Lucia is highly insightful, and if someone she helps tries to do her harm she will not hesitate to return them the same pain in kind.

 

Although soft-spoken, and shy Lucia is strongly opinionated, and will stubbornly fight for her ideals, though she respects and acknowledges opposing positions as well. She is strong-willed and decisive, Lucia tackles problems conviction and sensitivity, but also pragmatism taking what she believes to be the fastest path to achieve her goal. This has come in handy as a doctor, as often delivering a diagnosis involves the use of warm, sensitive language to keep patients calm. However Lucia can under extremely stressful situations, such as ones that evoke images of her repressed childhood, Lucia can experience a panic attack that, depending on the intensity, can cause temporary insanity. In most cases Lucia will began to shut down both mentally and emotionally in attempt to detach herself from the situation, and she often turn to fatalistic ideas to rationalize the situation to herself.

 

Having spent much of her life as a social outcast Lucia has come to accept that she will have few friends, and tends to resign herself to quiet places where she can read, or draw. While she will not avoid social interaction, Lucia does not actively seek to befriend others, and even should someone choose to engage with her she will not share much preferring to keep her innermost and personal thoughts hidden. Because of the stigma and abuse she has suffered in her life Lucia tends to be suspicious of those who seem to be "too nice" and will always attempt to find ulterior motives in others actions. Lucia's ideals of friendship have lead to her having high standards, and this has lead her to abandon what could possibly lead to healthy relationships in search of more 'perfect' matches for her.

 

In terms of a romantic relationship Lucia's desperation for someone to understand and love her, often comes at odds with her tendency to push others away. While Lucia does desire a partner she wishes for depth and meaning in the relationship, and will not 'casually date'. In a relationship Lucia seeks someone who she can feel safe.


[spoiler=Biography]For nearly her whole life Lucia has been regarded as a pariah by the people of Dunhaven. Disowned and thrown out by her family at the young age after revealing that she would rather be a girl. From that moment on she was regarded by others with distrust and ignorance, labeled as a freak. Even from the other outcasts and untouchables that populated Dunhaven's slums she was given a wide birth, and these were the nice ones. Many of the less than honourable denizens of the slums thought to take advantage and harm the 'unloved freak', and the young Lucia learned quickly that her life would be dominated by the principle of 'eat or be eaten'.

 

Lucia adapted, however, to the new life she would be forced to live crafting shivs to defend herself, and learning how to patch cuts and treat very basic illnesses (such as the common cold or flu) with the few supplies she would have available to her. The streets naturally improved Lucia's skills with the knife, as well as other illegal skills, such as thievery, that would help her acquire the medical knowledge needed to become the person she truly wished to be. Stealing books on anatomy and medicine, and over the course of several years created drugs that would alter her hormones.

 

Lucia also realized that not only could she help herself with this knowledge, but help the others of the Dunhaven slums who couldn't afford medical treatment from other doctors. Opening her own practice Lucia began to help the poor citizens of Dunhaven, and helping other transgender people, who have no other doctors to turn to. Nobody is exactly sure as to how Lucia has managed to keep her practice open as long as she has, though nobody is brave enough to ask either. In recent years, however, she has been seen with Gaius Montague and his HRS Midnight. Why the nobleman chose not even Lucia herself knows, as her presence certainly does not raise his social standing, and there are many other physicians in Dunhaven who are far better equipped and more traditionally trained than Lucia. She's not really one to complain though considering the Midnight is far safer than her previous place of work.

[spoiler=Weapons]Throwing Knives: Self-evident from their name Lucia uses the throwing to keep range between herself and her opponent. Lucia often throws the knives in volleys of three with small intervals between each throw as she finds this makes the knives the most difficult to dodge, as well as allowing her a small amount of time to adjust her shot to keep with her opponent's movements.

 

Trench Knives: Lucia keeps a pair of trench knives strapped to her boots in the case she runs out of, or is disarmed of her throwing knives. Lucia also keeps these knives with her in the case that she is forced to fight in a cramped or confined area where using her throwing knives would be impractical.

 

Garrote Wires: Thin, long and flexible wires are Lucia's hidden weapon persay. Kept stored in silver rings that Lucia wears on each finger Lucia is able to use this wires with great efficiency, and for a variety of uses. The wires are sharp enough to tear off large pieces of flesh should someone be caught or immobilized in them. Lucia will often use her wires to trap her opponent in a "web" leaving them unable to dodge her knife attacks.


[spoiler=Inventory]Surgical Kit: A large leather bag which Lucia keeps all of the tools she requires to preform a surgery. Contains several needles, thread, antiseptic, anesthesia, and bandages.

 

​Satchel: An old brown big Lucia keeps several types of medicine in for quick administration should an emergency arise. She also keeps her hormone pills in this bag as well.


Aptitudes:

  • Advanced Medical Knowledge: Despite not receiving much formal education on the matter Lucia has taught herself much of the knowledge necessary to preform accurate medical analyses, as well as being able to surgeries on patients that require it. Due to the fact Lucia is not a licensed medical practitioner (and thus operating outside of the law she often prescribes medication that is experimental, but has shown results. Lucia is also knowledgeable in chemistry and able to create her own medications as well to compensate for ones that either have not been invented yet (such as medications for transgender people such as herself) or ones that are difficult for her suppliers to acquire. A skill she picked up from her time in slums as well is being able to bandage wounds and treat other injuries quickly, and with out the need of many supplies.   
  • Street Fighting: Having lived in the slums for the majority of her life Lucia learned quickly how to defend herself, and how to defend herself well. Using mostly a wide variety of knives Lucia can make a weapon out of almost anything. While Lucia is able to defend herself in hand-to-hand combat she often is at a disadvantage when it comes to raw strength, thus Lucia relies staying mobile and out of an opponent's range until she can make a strike for their vital organs. Lucia has some experience with firearms, however she tends to shy away from using them as she finds them clumsy and random.
  • Magick - Shape ist Leben: Lucia's magick is heavily tied to her status as a doctor, and allows her "inject" her own life force into other people and objects for a limited period of time. This ability can be used by Lucia to keep someone who has received a mortal wound alive beyond what should normally be possible allowing Lucia extra time to treat the wound and save that person's life. However since she is sustaining a dying person with her own life using this ability for too long can result in Lucia's death as well.

Question: Is rigging still required for the sails on airships to keep control of the ship during storms?

Yes, there's rigging. However, that's able to change if people don't think it'd be feasible w/ the setting. I also envision there being support harnesses for crew members to hook themselves to the ship, in case things go crazy.
