If this monster is used as Synchro Material, you can use 1 or more Xyz monsters as Synchro Material: if you do, their Level is treated as being equal to their Rank. When this monster battles a Level/Rank 4 or lower monster, you can use the opposing monster as Synchro Material instead of conducting damage calculation.

 

Gold-Eyes Gatekeeper

WIND - Level 3 - Warrior/Pendulum/Effect - 400/1900 - Scale 9

Pendulum Effect - You can only Pendulum Summon WIND monsters (this effect cannot be negated). When your opponent Special Summons a monster(s) from the Graveyard, you can Special Summon an equivalent number of monsters from your Graveyard. Your opponent cannot Summon monsters from the Graveyard if there are no monsters in your Graveyard.

Monster Effect - If this monster is Special Summoned successfully, you can Special Summon 1 "Gold-Eyes" monster from your hand, except "Gold-Eyes Gatekeeper". If you activate this effect, this monster cannot leave Defense Position until your next Standby Phase.

 

Gold-Eyes Guardian

Monster Effect - When this monster is Normal Summoned, you can target 1 face-up "Gold-Eyes" monster in your Extra Deck: Special Summon it. If this monster is destroyed by your opponent's card effect, you can Special Summon 1 "Gold-Eyes Guardian" from your hand or Deck.

 

Gold-Eyes Soldier

WIND - Level 3 - Warrior/Pendulum/Effect - 600/1500 - Scale 9

Pendulum Effect - You can only Pendulum Summon WIND monsters (this effect cannot be negated). Once per turn, if your opponent would Special Summon a monster from their Extra Deck, you can reveal 1 WIND monster in your Extra Deck, and your opponent selects and activates 1 of the following effects:

●Negate the Summon of their own monster.

●Special Summon each monster to their original owner's side of the field, and pay Life Points equal to the original ATK of the monster Summoned to your field.

Monster Effect - If this monster is Pendulum Summoned, you can Normal Summon an additional time this turn, as long as all monsters you Normal Summon are WIND-Attribute.

 

Gold-Eyes Maiden

Monster Effect - You can target 1 face-up "Gold-Eyes" monster you control: Destroy that target, and add up to 2 "Gold-Eyes" monsters and/or "of Gold" Spell/Trap Cards from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. You can only activate this effect of "Gold-Eyes Wizard" once per turn.

 

Gold-Eyes Lady

Once per turn, if your opponent would activate a Trap Card, or the effect of a Trap Card, you can negate the effect or activation and draw 1 card. Gold-Eyes Boggart

WIND - Level 3 - Fiend/Pendulum/Effect - 1300/800 - Scale 2

Pendulum Effect - If your opponent would add a card to their hand outside their normal Draw, you can Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone: your opponent must shuffle their hand into their Deck, then draw 3 cards (this is a Quick Effect, and cannot be negated except by Quick-Play Spell Cards or Counter Trap Cards). You can only activate this effect of "Gold-Eyes Boggart" once per turn.

Monster Effect - If your opponent would activate a card effect during the Battle Phase, you can send this card to an unoccupied Pendulum Zone: negate that effect, and send 1 face-up monster your opponent controls to its original owner's hand (this is a Quick Effect, and cannot be negated except by Quick-Play Spell Cards or Counter Trap Cards). Pendulum Effect - Every time a card effect is activated during the Battle Phase, increase the ATK of all face-up "Gold-Eyes" monsters by 600 until the end of the Battle Phase (this effect continues even if this card leaves the field).

Monster Effect - If you control at least 1 other "Gold-Eyes" monster, your opponent cannot activate the effects of cards in their hand during your turn. If your opponent would add cards to their hand during your turn, those cards are added to your hand instead.

 

Gold-Eyes Lord

Pendulum Effect - If your opponent Pendulum Summons 1 or more monsters, you can draw a number of cards equal to the number of monsters they Summoned, reveal them to your opponent, and shuffle monsters your opponent controls into their Deck equal to the number of "Gold-Eyes" monsters and/or "of Gold" Spell/Trap Cards you drew.

If this monster was Special Summoned by the effect of "Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon", you can destroy up to 3 cards your opponent controls. If the Tuner used for this monster's Synchro Summon was Level 7 or higher: This monster gains 200 ATK for every Monster Card in your opponent's Graveyard, during your turn only. Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can banish this monster to send all face-up monsters your opponent controls to the Graveyard (this is a Quick Effect). Gold-Eyes Imperial Dragon

If either player would pay Life Points to activate a card or effect, you can negate that card or effect: Negate and destroy all monsters and Pendulum Cards your opponent controls. Gold-Eyes Twin Majesty Dragon

This monster can attack twice per Battle Phase. This monster is unaffected by all cards and effects during the Battle Phase. If this monster is destroyed, you can Special Summon 2 Level 8 or lower "Gold-Eyes" monsters from your Graveyard.

 

Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon

WIND - Level 12 - Dragon/Synchro/Effect - 4500/4000

"Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon" + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Must be Synchro Summoned using the above Materials, and cannot be Summoned by other ways. When this monster is Summoned, detach all Xyz Materials from all Xyz monsters on the field: This monster can attack a number of times this turn equal to the number of cards detached by this effect +1. If this monster battles a Defense Position monster, destroy the opposing monster and inflict damage to your opponent equal to its DEF without conducting damage calculation. You can only control 1 "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon".

Induction of Gold

Normal Spell

Activate only when you control a "Gold-Eyes" monster. Add 2 Pendulum monsters from your Deck to your hand. You cannot activate the added cards this turn.

 

Vengeance of Gold

Quick-Play Spell

When your opponent sends 1 or more "Gold-Eyes" cards to the Graveyard or Banished Zone: Send an equivalent number of cards from your opponent's hand and/or side of the field to the Graveyard or Banished Zone.

 

Treachery of Gold

Quick-Play Spell

When you take damage as part of a Chain that included a "Gold-Eyes" monster declaring an attack, destroy that monster: your opponent must then take damage equal to that monster's ATK. If your opponent's Life Points are not lower at the end of a Chain that includes this card than they were at the beginning of it, halve your opponent's Life Points. You cannot activate this card if the monster that attacked was "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon".

 

Mirror of Gold

Continuous Trap

Target 1 monster your opponent controls: its effects are negated, it cannot be used as Synchro, Fusion, or Xyz Material, and it cannot attack. If the target monster leaves the field, destroy this card. If this card is destroyed or negated: Destroy the target monster.

 

End of Gold

Counter Trap

Activate only if "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon" is Synchro Summoned by the effect of "Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon", and only if it can attack at least 4 times this turn: End the current Duel. The player with the higher Life Point total wins.

 

 

 

I mentioned a challenge. There are 2.

 

First, for the writing inclined:

Write a short fic featuring a character using a Gold-Eyes Deck facing off against someone from any sub-series of the anime (DM, GX, 5D's, ZeXal, or Arc-V). You can count plot armor, or ignore it. Just make it an entertaining Duel, and keep the canon character in-character. This is worth 500 Points if you do it.

 

Second, for the Dueling inclined:

Upload as many Gold-Eyes cards as you think you'll need to DP, and go up against a meta (or particularly annoying, like Lightsworn, Ghostrick, or Exodia Turbo) deck of your choice. You don't have to win, just put up a good fight and bring out at least 2 of the dragons. Take down everything that happens, either on video or in a transcript. This is worth 100 Points per Duel.

 

Now, I know that some of these are probably broken to sheet, but I'm delirious and need to put my mind on something else for a while. Fixes, if necessary, will come as requested.

If this monster was Special Summoned by the effect of "Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon", you can destroy up to 3 cards your opponent controls. This monster gains 500 ATK for every card in your opponent's Graveyard. Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can banish this monster to send all face-up cards your opponent controls to the Graveyard (this is a Quick Effect). If, during your Standby Phase, this monster is in your Banished Zone: Special Summon it.

 

Gold-Eyes Imperial Dragon

If this monster was Special Summoned by the effect of "Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon", you can destroy up to 4 cards your opponent controls. This monster gains 800 ATK and DEF for every card in both players' Extra Decks. If either player would pay Life Points to activate a card or effect, you can negate that card or effect: Negate and destroy all cards your opponent controls. This monster cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.

 

Gold-Eyes Twin Majesty Dragon

WIND - Level 10 - Dragon/Synchro/Effect - 3700/3200

"Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon" + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

This monster can attack twice per Battle Phase. This monster is unaffected by all cards and effects during the Battle Phase. If this monster is destroyed, you can Special Summon 2 Level 8 or lower "Gold-Eyes" monsters from your Graveyard.

 

Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon

WIND - Level 12 - Dragon/Synchro/Effect - 4500/4000

"Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon" + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Must be Synchro Summoned using the above Materials, and cannot be Summoned by other ways. When this monster is Summoned, detach all Xyz Materials from all Xyz monsters on the field. This monster can attack a number of times this turn equal to the number of cards detached by this effect +1. If this monster battles a Defense Position monster, destroy the opposing monster and inflict damage to your opponent equal to its DEF without conducting damage calculation. You can only control 1 "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon".

When you take damage as part of a Chain that included a "Gold-Eyes" monster declaring an attack, destroy that monster: your opponent must then take damage equal to that monster's ATK. If your opponent's Life Points are not lower at the end of a Chain that includes this card than they were at the beginning of it, halve your opponent's Life Points. You cannot activate this card if the monster that attacked was "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon".

 

Mirror of Gold

Continuous Trap

Target 1 monster your opponent controls: its effects are negated, it cannot be used as Synchro, Fusion, or Xyz Material, and it cannot attack. If the target monster leaves the field, destroy this card. If this card is destroyed or negated: Destroy the target monster.

 

End of Gold

Counter Trap

Activate only if "Gold-Eyes Ultimate End Dragon" is face-up on the field, and only if it is the only monster you control: End the current Duel. The player with the higher Life Point total wins.

 

 

 

I mentioned a challenge. There are 2.

 

First, for the writing inclined:

Write a short fic featuring a character using a Gold-Eyes Deck facing off against someone from any sub-series of the anime (DM, GX, 5D's, ZeXal, or Arc-V). You can count plot armor, or ignore it. Just make it an entertaining Duel, and keep the canon character in-character. This is worth 500 Points if you do it.

 

Second, for the Dueling inclined:

Upload as many Gold-Eyes cards as you think you'll need to DP, and go up against a meta (or particularly annoying, like Lightsworn, Ghostrick, or Exodia Turbo) deck of your choice. You don't have to win, just put up a good fight and bring out at least 2 of the dragons. Take down everything that happens, either on video or in a transcript. This is worth 100 Points per Duel.

 

Now, I know that some of these are probably broken to sheet, but I'm delirious and need to put my mind on something else for a while. Fixes, if necessary, will come as requested.

This is beautiful. It looks like an anti-meta archetype; however, many of the effects are based on your opponent's actions, and that Level/Rank 4 effect is amazing. Nice that you limit the Pendulum Summoning to the archetype, like "Qli". And as for "Now, I know that some of these are probably broken to sheet", these are fair compared to Kozmo and Performage/Dracoslayer. Especially when you place such limits on the cards. And its nice to see both Synchro Monsters and Xyz Monsters (funny not to see Rank 4 for once). Plus, most (if not all) of these cards aren't cripplingly unfair, as many of the effects come with a reasonable set of rules.

Yeah, essentially this Deck is tailored to making sure your opponent literally never gains advantage (specifically Boggart, who's designed to lolnope searching or extra draws), so you'd basically need to be running Monarchs or a solid Fusion archetype to really counter Gold-Eyes.

 

Well, the WIND restriction was designed so you could use this alongside Sacred Crane et al., but yeah, most Pendulum archetypes have some sort of restriction, so I figured WIND.

 

Well, given that it's an "-Eyes" archetype, it needed a large Extra Deck. So, given that Synchro and Xyz are fast, I put both in.

*Spittake* What? Now that is just ridiculously OP. These synchro monsters have steadily gotten more and more overpowered down the list, but this is just ridiculous. If it activates its eff to destroy 3 cards, it will automatically be at 5500 ATK. If its summoned by Gold-Eyes' second effect (that's what you mean by Gold-Eyes Dowsing Dragon's effect, right? The second effect, not the first?), it'll be at 6000 atk and your opponent's field will probably be clear. And the average deck usually puts around 15 cards in the graveyard over the course of a duel. You do the math.

Not to mention its second effect, which is a recurring field nuke that doesn't destroy. And it's quick?!

 

And Imperial Dragon - did you do the math for that? 15+15x800+4500=28,500.

And all the synchro monsters get non-targeting destruction for stealing an opponent's monster, which increases to the point where it's basically a field nuke?

Surprisingly, Gold-Eyes Stellar is probably one of the hardest ones to get right.

 

First, it requires your opponent to play Level/Rank 3, for Gold-Eyes Dowsing. Most Decks don't do that.

 

Second, it requires Gold-Eyes Dowsing (heretofore called GEDD) to successfully battle said Level/Rank 3. There is way too much attack negation in this game, let alone crap like "Shift".

 

Third, you need to successfully trigger GEDD's effect, which can be negated by just about anything that can negate- it's an attack, effect, and Summon rolled into one.

 

Fourth, you need to make sure Stellar isn't hit with a Bottomless.

 

I mean, you could just Summon it by tuning GEDD to another Gold-Eyes card, but then you don't get the free destruction.

 

Essentially, Stellar is so good because of the stupid requirements to field it.

Lightsworns, BA, performapals, all have lvl 3s. And your entire archetype is lvl 3, and the part that matters is the atk increase. The fact that it can be negated helps *not at all*. I could make an effect that lets you win the match, and say it's balanced because Solemn can negate it or something, but that isn't balanced.

What's a "Shift"?
