[MTG] Eldritch Moon Release Weekend

Recommended Posts

So, how has everyone been enjoying the release weekend? Do any drafts?

I got one in today. Pretty solid GB delirium deck. The icing was Tree of Perdition and Triskaidekaphobia. I was able to get the combo off twice, both in the same match. So I literally won a match with just two cards. Game one even saw me winning through a Tamiyo.

So, did we find out what happened when Emrakul got Imprisoned in the Moon?

Cuz I haven't seen any cards other than Liliana's Oath that indicate they take place after that card.

That's the wrap-up of the plot. Nothing happens afterwards really. Liliana joins, Tamiyo declines, and we know that they all jet off to Kaladesh next for some reason.

No clean-up operation?

What happens to the various horrors on Innistrad?

Do they just curl up and die?

Do they revert back to normal?

There's no epilogue or closure to this arc that has devastated this plane?

I got a box.

Pulled Lilly and Tammy, both parts to Hanweir'mrakul, Eldritch Evolution, 2 Elder-Deep Fiends, Gisa and Geralf, Decimator of the Provinces, and 2 Docent of Perfection, to name the major ones.

Do they revert back to normal?
The planeswalkers just...leave?

I would imagine they would curl up and die slowly, same as Ulamog and Kozilek's broods did. Though Innistrad will likely never be the same again, with so much of the population either part of the Eldrazi horde or killed by them. And with Avacyn gone and Sorin encased in stone, there's no one powerful enough left who cares enough to protect it from further in-plane threats.

Unless Tibalt comes back?

Unless Tibalt comes back?

funk Tibalt. In the ass. With Godsend.

And funk that weak-ass ending. I feel a bit cheated now.

They'll probably cover this in the story articles to come. I mean, the rough idea is there.

Thalia, the Order of Saint Traft and Sigarda as Innistrad's new guardian angel are in charge of clean-up. There's no reverting back, I imagine.

I mean, the plane's pretty much as crap as it was when we first visited Innistrad. You don't really need any more closure because it was never really a happy place to begin with.

Edit: Ulamog's and Kozilek's broods did not 'curl up and die slowly'.

attended a draft, drafted some bomb ass GW delirium, had to drop before round one because my house was very close to a fire

and now your dose of vorthos:

nahiri and sorin sparred. nahiri cast dec in stone on sorin and suspended him facing towards emmy, then she buzzed off. thalia procures avacyn's spear and is able to wield it without burning herself with holy light because of the saint traft's geist inside of her. thalia and co. ride to thraben, the biggest city where emmy is floating over, and get front row seats to the horror show that is innistrad's corruption. surprise, here comes brisela to knock thalia around a little bit. sigarda shows up and almost gets to be the third component to brisela as the two try to consume her. thalia channels the inner power of saint traft to sprout angelic wings and cleaves brisela in two with avacyn's spear.

gatewatch arrives on innistrad and is pretty quickly overwhelmed when their original kill the titan strategy doesn't work, liliana posts their bail and saves them with her legion of undead. gideon and nissa are a little uneasy around lili because of the zombies and the chain veil respectively. gideon, chandra, and lili are on fighting duty, while jace, nissa, and tamiyo go to work making the moon into a new helavault. emmy gets shoved into the moon. lili joins the gatewatch, tamiyo doesn't, the gang leaves while innistrad has sigarda and co to take care of what's left.

italicized text is stuff that i can only glean from cards since the magic story for these events has yet to be released.

[spoiler=HOLY funk]
Tamiyo and Nissa didn't actually imprison Emrakul.
Emrakul gave Tamiyo a special scroll for the binding spell, then took control of Tamiyo to force her to cast the modified binding spell.
EMRAKUL LET HERSELF BE IMPRISONED IN THE MOON.

However, I'm disappointed that The Promised End didn't actually answer any of the questions I had regarding those corrupted by Emrakul, and what happened to them.
I mean, Emrakul turned a sizable chunk of the population of Innistrad, as well as multiple towns, lots of big beasties, and most of the angels, into her servants.
What happened to them when she got imprisoned? Did they just die, or leave for parts unknown, or turn back to normal, or what?

Considering the nature of Innistrad, I wouldn't be surprised if the Eldrazi beings wind up finding places to fit into the dark ecosystem of the plane, similar to the vampires of Zendikar that were originally not native to the plane. (I think Sorin f*cked up on that one.) Innistrad, however, has the benefit of not having to deal with something akin to the Roil, though.

I mean there's literally no reason at all for everything to suddenly go and fix itself. There'll obviously be cleanup, but it's the least interesting part of the story and should just be implied. In all regards, they'll probably say something when they're all off to Kaladesh.

honestly my favorite plot twist in a while

[spoiler=more holy f***]

emmy didn't feel like it was her time yet

so now she's meditating in the moon

and yet at less than full power,

she upended and entire plane
