It seems you just want him to be MR. perfect without any faults, and if he hate the card game he wouldn't play it. If he's such a bad ass the country would probably help him find his family seeing as one of their best military men's family vanished would freak them out and they'd want to figure it out. Just to many things don't make sense, or are lame and over done. Plus saying you want your guy to be legendary but he is always getting beat by main characters makes no sense.

I don't want him to be perfect. Originally, I just wanted to play as a fat Korean kid who flew around in a giant mecha and ate dogs. Eating dogs seemed like a perfectly reasonable character flaw, but NO.

He plays the game for his country, read the app.

BUT WHAT IF IT WAS THEM THAT DID IT OR IT WAS BEYOND THEIR POWER OR HE JUST DIDN'T CARE DUHN DUHN DUHN.

Eh.

He's only legendary by non protagonist standards. And only as a soldier, in a small way.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm taking it all in.

*grumbles about forum update occuring just as posting, so post is lost*

Firstly, I expect that the world didn't turn out like in WALL-E where humans are unable to depend on their own motor functions, and if that was the case, I'd expect more cyborgs like Placido and Jose, where they look and move like humans, but are actually part machine.

I have no problems accepting a soldier playing Duel Monsters. Games like that can relieve stress from battle or war. A super soldier is already pushing it, and if they HATE the game, it loses all credibility, least of all for them to have mastered the game. Although Japan is not Korea, there are bound to be a lot of extremely good players in that region, and being the best of them is already pushing it. I don't like people claiming their characters are champions because there's no effort in saying "Oh, he's a champion", and it gives the character an unfair expectation of winning all the time.

Why would he play a card game, even in the Yugioh world where card games are life, if he's a legendary soldier that hates the game? Isn't serving in the military to such a high standard sufficient duty for his country?

You thought him eating dogs was a CHARACTER FLAW? I thought it was offensive to European countries, as well as him being fat. I would have given SSD a hard time if he hadn't denied that.

You gave him two impressive credentials: National Champion and legendary super soldier. The super soldier part has seemingly no reference to anything beyond patriotism and his nickname, and Champions are a dime a dozen. Both of those credentials are going to get easily refuted if he's neutral because 99/100 of the time, disputes are solved via duels, so his military training is irrelevent, and he's not a main character, so he's going to lose all plot-relevent duels.

Being descended of a canon character (especially Jesse to use Crystal Beasts) is trite and cliche. None of it contributes to him as a character. His family disappeared for the mystery factor? Tell us the point of the mystery and I'll believe it. People like to overuse "Learn more as time goes on", as a justification for a sloppy, non-fleshed out backstory.

k.

Eh, I just nicked most of the soldier who plays Yugioh professionally thing off the Starcraft team that the South Korean Army has that Boxer used to lead. Besides, everyone in this tournament is supposed to be world level, maybe.

Because Yugioh is life. And the Starcraft thing.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH FAT PEOPLE. It's offensive not to eat dogs in some countries. Maybe.

There are tons of national champions that have turned out to be terrible. Everybody in the WRGP apart from 20 or so sucked balls. And he's only slightly legendary. And he's supposed to lose until he gets his chocolatey Dark Signer upgrade.

Eh, I'll change it to his deck being a copy- maybe issued by the military.

Note to self: Experiment: Do not read rules to RPs and just change the color of one random word. See how many people I bluff into accepting me.

At the very least judge the apps by their validity and then make them change a color as a procedural thing. Forestalling judgment like that is counterintuitive.
