Claymore cards. 3 more cards added. The Abyss Eaters and 2 more support cards [60/??]

Alright. These are my rendition of the Claymore warriors as cards (as well as various support cards). I tried to make them as individual as possible, sort of using their abilities in the show and transposing it into yugioh style abilities, while trying to centralize them to a common ability: Special Summoning to match up to the opponent and win head-to-head battles. I've decided to go ahead and make as many individual warriors and cards as I see fit, but they shall be a sort of expansion.

Each monster is also considered limited.

if you think any are op'd then specify which card and please add some sort of way to fix the card.
any comments are appreciated.

UPDATED: added 1 monster card: Abyss Eater. Just found a good image for them. its under abyssal ones cuz i didn't really want to make a whole new spoiler just for them. and two more supports. 1 spell. 1 trap.

ON THE WAY AS THEY ARE MADE: More Awakened Beings and support cards. Also, cards based on locations within the series are in process. (as better images are found). Any ideas appreciated.

Here are the cards thus far:

Once during each player's turns, if a player summoned a monster, this card gains 500 ATK until the End Phase. During the End Phase, if you did not Normal Summon a monster this turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle until your next Draw Phase.

Can be Special Summoned (from your hand) during your Main Phase. This card cannot destroy other monsters by battle and does not inflict battle damage.

While in Attack Position, if a face-up "Claymore" monster other than this card would be destroyed by battle or by the effect of an Effect Monster, you can negate its destruction by changing it and this card to face-up Defense Position instead.

Can be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 "Claymore - Undine of the Twin Swords" from your Graveyard. If summoned this way, this card can attack twice during the Battle Phase. If this card would be destroyed, you can switch this card from Attack Position to face-up Defense Position to negate its destruction.

Can be Special Summoned by banishing a "Claymore - Jean" from your Graveyard; if summoned this way: This card gains 300 ATK and inflicts Piercing Damage. When this card is destroyed, add 1 Level 4 or lower "Claymore" monster from your Deck to your hand.

While you control only Level 4 or lower monsters other than "Claymore - Priscilla", this card cannot be destroyed. When this card attacks a monster, it gains 500 ATK. When this card is attacked, it loses 500 ATK.

Can be Special Summoned from your Deck if your opponent controls a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz monster. The Deck is then shuffled. (The effects of "Claymore - Tabitha, the Dark Silver Eye" can only be activated once per turn.)

While this card is in ATK position, it gains 500 ATK. When this card is attacked or selected as the target of a card effect, decrease its original ATK and DEF by 300; this effect can be negated by discarding 1 card from your hand.

Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by battle, it isn't.

While on the field: One time only, destroy 1 card on the field; if you do, this card cannot attack.
Can be Special Summoned (from your hand) if your opponent controls a Level 5 or higher monster; if summoned this way, you cannot Normal Summon or Set this turn. During your End Phase, if this card did not attack this turn, place 1 counter on it (1 max), or remove 1 counter from it (if able) if it did attack. You can Set this card without a Tribute. When this card is targeted by an opponent's monster attack or card effect, you can return it to your hand.

During your Draw Phase while you control a "Claymore" monster other than "Claymore - Tracker Dietrich", you can Special Summon this card from your Deck instead of your normal draw (This effect of "Claymore - Tracker Dietrich" can only be activated once per turn); if summoned this way, you cannot Normal Summon or Set this turn. When this card attacks a monster, change the position of the attack target to face-up Defense Position and this card gains 500 ATK.

Can be Special Summoned (from your hand) if your opponent controls a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz monster; if summoned this way, you cannot Normal Summon or Set this turn. When this card attacks a face-up monster whose Level is below 8, destroy that monster after damage calculation.

When an Xyz, Synchro, or Fusion monster is summoned to your opponent's field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card attacks a monster, it gains 500 ATK and is not affected by card effects. If this card attacked, during the end of the Battle Phase, switch it to face-up Defense Position; its position cannot be changed (except by card effect) unless you control a face-up "Claymore - Clarice".

I am impressed, especially with the pictures although Ilena appears squished.

While the series is called 'Claymore' and their swords are claymores the Warriors themselves do not call themselves as such. I can understand you using the term as it is the one by which they are most recognized. I feel it is more appropriate to call them 'Warrior -.'

I wonder about Dietrich's effect, since it indicates 'drawing from the Deck' does that mean you cannot use it if she's already in your hand? Can you activate a card's effect when it is still in the Deck? Flora's effect is also interesting in that she destroys the monster she battles after damage has been calculated. Does this happen even if she has been destroyed? If so, she's a more powerful version of cards like Man-Eater Bug. I have not seen a Level-7 with 2500 ATK before. Can you link me to one?

The opponent boost Traps are interesting, as they give temporary advantage to your opponent. 'The Abyssal Ones' is also an interesting card. Who gets to choose which Token is summoned, and do they have any effects of their own?

In "Kinship of Claymores" what is the purpose of the first effect, "select 1 "Claymore" monster you control?" Is it an indication that you can only use this card when you control 1 or more "Claymore?" I especially like the balance on "The Northern Campaign," that your opponent can special summon a monster, but you might want to lift the limit on that a bit, because knowing it you are likely to try to avoid it. The whole thing tips back when the card is destroyed, triggering the destruction of all cards summoned through it anyway.

Overall most of the cards are well-balanced and very well thought out. I believe, however, that knowing the Warriors' origins you may wish to change them to DARK-type Fiends. It is, of course, your choice.

thanks for the feed back. 'Kinship of Claymores' will be edited, thanks for that. Should say

Their name is just for archetype's sake. Just calling them 'Warrior - ' is a little bland (imo), and calling them 'Claymore Warrior - ' is lengthy. So, just 'Claymore - ' it became.

Dietrich's effect can only be activated while it's in your deck. 'During your Draw Phase while you control a "Claymore" monster, you can add this card from your Deck to your hand instead of your normal draw (This effect of "Claymore - Track Dietrich" can only be activated once per turn)'. I think that's pretty straight forward. If you can think of somehow to make it clearer, let me know and I'll edit as I see fit. Also, there isn't anything that says you can't use it while you already have a Dietrich in your hand; you just can't use that effect more than once per turn.

Flora's effect activates even when she would be destroyed as well. Her purpose is to destroy a high ATK powered monster or one that is not destroyed by battle. But the monster must be face-up. If that's Op'd I can just easily change it so that the effect only activates if the opponent's monster was in attack position.

The reason for Ilena's low ATK is due to her effect. Your opponent cannot use Spells or Traps until the damage step when she attacks. Every other card with a like effect (ancient gears exclusively) have low ATK power as well. (asides from soldier, being a gemini)

For 'The Abyssal Ones', the controller of the card decides which effect is applied, but of course, you can only apply what is possible. You wouldn't be able to make your opponent tribute 3 monsters when he/she only controls 1. They don't have effects, only because then the text of the card would be way too small.ha. I would have them have effects otherwise.

I don't see a limit to "The Northern Campaign", unless you're talking about its effect negation for opponent's monsters. So.. ?.

I'm 50/50 for the LIGHT Warrior and DARK Fiends, and only chose LIGHT Warrior because of their appearance (white material, silver armor, blonde hair, human-like). DARK Fiend seems more fitting to their awakened states, or to the actual full-blooded Yoma.

Thanks for the feedback!

You would make it possible to have more than one copy of the cards in a deck, huh? I would never think of that with unique character cards. To me they make sense as Limited Cards, because having more than one on the field would be... awkward.

If Flora can destroy any card even if it was hard to summon or activate, yeah that's a bit overpowered in a way. I can appreciate countering the 'cannot eb destroyed by battle cards' as they're annoying when used against you.

The limit to "The Northern Campaign" is the number of Special Summons that you and your opponent can make with it.

The Warriors may look light, but their power source is Yoma energy, and they were made for a dark purpose. The Renegade Warrior uniform is grey or black, too, so it's hardly fitting to say Organization Warriors are Light because they wear light. But it is your choice. Maybe I would make Organization Warriors DARK Fiends, and Renegade Warriors EARTH or WIND Fiends depending on their abilities.

Yeah, I would. Only because adding a "you can only control 1 "Claymore - ..." to each card would make their effects longer than necessary, and it's a pretty good restriction: their effects or stats would have to be amped (imo).

For Flora, all I can think of is having her effect only be applied to Attack position monsters. I don't really want a cost for it. If you can come up with something else, please bring it up.

You can Special Summon any 1 of at least 2 monsters destroyed during a turn during the End Phase of that turn. So, there's no limit to the number of Special Summons you can make with the card, only that you can only use it once per End Phase. How do you think it should be?

Fair point, your last statement. I'll see about it.

Rather than a cost for Flora, maybe just a limit on the highest Level the opposing monster can be when it is destroyed by her effect. She's only a Level-4, so maybe the effect should not work on Tier-3 and higher monsters (Level-8 and higher). I forget if she needs a 'cool-down' period after she uses his Windcutter technique. If she does maybe a 'Once per turn' limit is appropriate. It's up to you.

I read it as being a choice between 1 of 2 or more destroyed monsters that you bring back to the field. Since the only thing someone reading the cards will know about them is whatever you put on the cards, it is a good idea to put exactly what you mean. This is a lesson which I have learned over the creation of many hundreds of cards. The punchline for this card is this: when it's destroyed so are all the Special Summons made through it, so one strategy might be to make your opponent rely on its Special Summons, and destroy it yourself to give him/her an empty field.

Of course, all decisions on your set are yours to make.

alright, i think i see the issue with "The Northern Campaign", thank u, but it is a choice between 1 of 2 or more monsters (that you controlled) destroyed during a turn, you can bring back 1 of them during the End Phase of that turn.

and i think that limit idea for Flora is very good. thanks.

 • 3 weeks later...

"Collateral Damage" and "Joint Effort" have interesting effects, since they allow the player to destroy more powerful cards. I wonder, though, what does the "Calm Come With?" Small grammatical lesson: A preposition is something you should never end a sentence with. You also have cards that allow you to target Claymore cards your opponent has -- I'm guessing these are aimed at the Awakened Ones as well.

Cards seem pretty well to me. (Altough lots of them would be banned if released by Konami xD) I'm dissappointed by weakness of the abyssal ones. Especially the one who lived longer than the others : Riful! isnt she a bit weak compared to her? pricilla's awekened form is absolutely fitting for her i think. And another disappointment for me: Why not Clare's awekened form? Alaso is it just me or Abyssal ones are weaker than awekened beings? I think lack of a lot pretty cool characters are because you havent checked the manga. Merged Rafaela and Luciela? Other Abyssals? Lot more cool cards could be there!
Quick Edit: And i cant see Dauf.T_T

ive got more made, editting them and uploading them little by little. as for images, i dont want to have black and white images; just fully colored images. and i for the abyssal ones, i couldn't decide which should be the higher leveled between riful or luciela. and you're right about the abyssals being weaker than the awakened, i'll see what i can do about that. thanks for the comments.

thanks, i changed riful to be the second strongest abyssal one. i couldn't really do much more without changing a lot more cards. awakened clare is in the works. seeing what abilities would suit her. waiting to see if a good colored image comes by as well. like i said, i don't really want black and whites. anyways. thanks for you're input.

It's interesting to have a monster that cannot destroy other monsters or effect battle damage -- unless her effect is negated. And she's low level, too. I also find it interesting how some of your cards can be Specual Summoned if your opponent has a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz monster. It's a neat way to try to even the field. You have a lot of cards focused just on accomplishing that. The natural consequence of such a deck is that you may find yourself reacting more to what your opponent does, so you're giving him or her the initiative in most situations. If your opponent can set up his or her field properly, she or he may be able to overwhelm your position. On the other hand, the effect suits the Organization's Claymores because they're always deployed in reaction to an attack.

Since the cards are based on unique characters it's practically implied, but if you want to make it explicit you certainly can. Keep in mind that more text means smaller text as well. You can also consider your cards to be Limited, so there should only be 1 per deck anyway.

For the "Destroyer," who gets control of the Yoma Token? I also get the sense you can summon "The Destroyer," clearing the field, then Clare.

yeah, i realize the smaller text issue. i suppose just treating them limited would have to do. I don't want the text to be extremely small.

and for The Destroyer, the tokens can be summoned under either player's control, and yes. That's the point of the card. it follows the manga as far as i know that way.
