ekko1990
This list is based of the March 2012 list. The point of this ban list was to make the meta a bit less spammy and otk'ish, while also giving other decks a better chance. In addition, it addresses some other problems which I felt needed a fix. I have tried to look through all current TCG cards when making this list and how they impact the game. I know I've missed a lot, so if any of you would like to note something major I'd appreciate it. Also, before any of you go all nuke on me on what cards were hit, I do play both Hieratic, Dragons and Inzektor and Gishki (though the latter is more of a DN thing). So, have a look at it if you've got the time an try to be open minded when doing so. Also, give me a comment if you can Banned
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning <-- limited Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind <-- limited Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End Cyber Jar Cyber-Stein Dark Armed Dragon <-- limited Dark Magician of Chaos Destiny HERO - Disk Commander Exodia the Forbidden One <-- Limited Fiber Jar Fishborg Blaster Glow-Up Bulb Inzektor Hornet <-- unlimited Magical Scientist Makyura the Destructor Mind Master Rescue Cat Sinister Serpent Substitoad Tribe-infecting Virus Tsukuyomi Victory Dragon Wind-Up Rat <-- unlimited Witch of the Black Forest Yata Garasu Thousand-Eyes Restrict Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier <-- limited Dark Strike Fighter Goyo Guardian Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier Hieratic Dragon King of Atum <-- unlimited Brain Control Butterfly Dagger - Elma Card of Safe Return Chain Material <-- unlimited Change of Heart Cold Wave Confiscation Delinquent Duo Dimension Fusion Final Countdown <-- Unlimited Future Fusion <-- limited Giant Trunade Graceful Charity Harpie's Feather Duster Last Will Magical Explosion <-- limited Mass Driver Metamorphosis Mirage of Nightmare Painful Choice Pot of Greed Premature Burial Raigeki Snatch Steal Temple of the Kings The Forceful Sentry Crush Card Virus Exchange of the Spirits Imperial Order Last Turn Ring of Destruction Royal Oppression Time Seal Trap Dustshoot
Limited
Archlord Kristya <-- semi-limited Dandylion Dark Smog <-- unlimited Debris Dragon Elemental HERO Stratos Evigishki Gustkrake <-- unlimited Gladiator Beast Bestiari Gladiator Beast Gyzarus <-- unlimited Gorz the Emissary of Darkness Honest Infernity Mirrage <-- unlimited Lonefire Blossom Mezuki Morphing Jar Necroface Neo-Spacian Grand Mole Night Assailant Plaguespreader Zombie Sangan Snoww, Unlight of Dark World <-- unlimited Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon <-- unlimited Rescue Rabbit <-- unlimited The Agent of Mystery - Earth Formula Synchron Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En T.G. Brionac goes because of its ability to make various broken loops possible in addition to that it is an easy monster to get out that can remove your opponent's defenses and create a soft lockdown by itself. Gale the Whirlwind was primarilly put on the ban side of the list due to its broken, complicated or difficult rulings (which ever fancy's your understanding). It is easier to ban it and give Blackwing other cards to use than to deal with the rulings as they currently are. Dark Armed Dragon is put here because of its bad design. It gives too many plusses for how easy and costless it is to bring out. In addition it supports one turn kills, which is bad in itself. Exodia and Final Countdown are both banned because of they turn the game into a boring waiting game for the opponent, either waiting for the Exodia player to stop drawing or for the loss from or chance to break through the wall of stall. Inzektor Hornet is another bad card design, as when combined with any other Inzektor car it will usually net you at least a +1 by destroying your opponent's card(s). Though that would be ok if that was it, but you can easilly net out 4+ card advantage each turn with little to no setup). Banning Wind-Up Rat is an easy way to balance out Wind-Ups. The Hunter loop will be dissabled while still letting it be an option (netting around 3 cars at max if you focus on it). Wind-Up's spam ability will be weakened to an extent with out killing it, so they can still fill the field with a slight setup. Hieratic Dragon King of Atum is a little too powerful in its own good, as no single card should be able to fetch out any non-nomi monster of a type from your deck. It is easy to get out in dragon decks and while it does have limits, they can be easilly ignored. In addition, this almost makes limiting Red-eyes Darkness Metal Dragon pointless. Chain Material gets hit because of how it is used with Fusion Gate to otk your opponent with only needing those two cards in your hand. As Future Fusion was near only used for milling purposes to set up for giant plays, it should go, simple as that. Magical Explosion is seen as an otk card in some burn decks and should therefor go to lessen the number of one turn kills. Archlord Kristya is an amazingly powerful boss monster, locking down a majority of play's an being a bit difficult to remove as well. In addition, if you manage your graveyard, you can get card advantage from summoning it. So it in short, it is a bit too powerful for having in multiples. Dark Smog. I sincerely don't know what they thought by making this card, as it simply makes every Dark World monster trigger with its effect in addition to becoming a D.D. Crow. If that wasn't enough, it makes it rather easy for Dark World effects to trigger during their opponent's turn. In short, it should be limited so that when it is blasted away, it is most likely gone for that round. Evigishki Gustkrake gets hit to reduce the power of Gishki without reducing its concistency. Infernity Mirrage an Barrier are both very strong cards in Infernity. The first being one of the initiators for the infernity combo an the secon being an easy to fetch, negate any effect card. Mirrage is hit because of its reusability and powerful effect, while barrier is hit to make Infernity user's think a bit more before just instantly negating anything and fetch another barrier later. Snoww, Unlight of Dark World and Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World were the main card that were up for getting hit in Dark World. Grapha is the boss monster an while increadibly easy to get out, with a fairly powerful effect to boot, it is also one of Dark Worlds main strengths so it only gets a slight hit. Snoww however, can easilly search after any "Dark World" card and therefore should be hit to decrease the concistency of the deck a bit. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon has long been a very powerful card and is basically the boss monster of all dragons. It is easy to get out and has a very powerful effect to help you swarm the field. So, same as with Archlord Kristya, it is too powerful to have it in multiples. Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max a 3000 beatstick with with a 2000 damge burn effect. While it can't be brought out in just any deck, the decks that can bring him out can easilly otk. While most of the combos only require one of him (though these, I think, have been taken care of), you can still pop two of him, use the effects and add some burn for game. To make this harder to pull of, Gustav was hit. As we are on the subject, Chain Strike is one of the main cards of a burn deck and can easilly add on a thousand or two damage to a chain. Another card that is too powerful to have it in multiples. Royal Tribute is one of the cards that can make or break a game. It is an essential boost to Gravekeeper's but it win the game for them if it is brought out on the first turn, in which case it will be almost impossible to negate. It was hit to make this less likely of happening. Torrential Tribute at two was necessary due to the ammount of swarm that happened, but as some cards that enabled swarming has been hit and with all the other mass removal there is, it should be enough with one Torrential. Due to Gale being hit, Blackwings needed something else to fill the gap, so Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow and Black Whirlwind were upped to two, hopefully making up for the loss without going overkill. Mystical Space Typhoon was hit, not only to slightly reduce the ridiculous amount of backrow hate, but also to give some of the many alternatives a chance to see play as well. T.G. Striker was ineed a powerful tuner, being one of two tuners with such an easy summoning conition and it also has the standard T.G. search effect. However, as powerful as it is, it was hit a bit hard, reducing T.G.'s playability, so therefore it goes back up to 2. Super Polymerization was hit to make players think more about when to use it due to its more limited amount of uses. Call of the Haunted was hit in order to give the varius alternatives a small chance to get played. I think Gateway of the Six should stay as it is, but it should recieve an erata stating that you can only remove Bushido Counters from itself for its effect.
Blake
This has a ton of awful choices, like gale to 0 and kalut to 2. This isn't ideal at all =/ (null)
