The soundtracks to a world of Fantasy

Bahamut - Envoy of the End

I don't care if this is meant to go under video games. The sonic thread is in here, I'm posting it here. No-one carec about the Multimedia section anyway.

Thread for posting your favourite songs/background music from the FF series. Because such epic music should be appreciated for complimenting the story and building the mood of the scene so well.

My favourite track from the recently completed (again) 9 is this beauty, which really captures the despair and madness inside Zidane at the time, and his friends determination to struggle and save him. The best scenes of the story, to the best music.

You are not alone

My unique relationship with Final Fantasy - which involves me having never played an FF game - does not need to be repeated.

The first thing I will do is not post One-Winged Angel. It really is an astounding piece, and as you listen to it more and more it gets more intriguing, but saying "onewinged angel = gud o and sefiroth is teh roxxor" contributes nothing to the discussion, and everyone's probably sick of it, anyway. At least, I hope you're sick of it...maybe you've been playing too much FFX. Anyway, let me float this little gem by you...

There are a few of these arranged songs (from Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection and Final Fantasy IV DS) that sound better as 16-bit chiptunes, but this one was beautifully transformed and is an improvement on the original.

I'm missing the connection between being sick of One-WInged Angel discussions and playing Final Fantasy X, haha.

Final Fantasy IV was amazing and had some great tunes, though I've only played the GBA version.

Agree with FF IV being amazing (completed on GBA ages ago, stuck on PS1) and everything Sephiroth does being overrated.

Theme tune to my favourite character of the series, when I recently re-completed X I cried so much when he died (was sent, you know what I mean).

I always assumed Sephiroth was a dumb, overrated villain...then I [s]watched an LP of FF7[/s] what no i totally played that game. I was amazed. Dazzled. Then I [s]watched[/s] played the rest of the game. I got sad. Then I watched Advent Children. I got even sadder.

Speaking of sad and dumb...

The music of FF13 is not, strictly speaking, bad. But the music is good via brute force: spending lots and lots of money on it, thus making it good by sheer inevitability. There are exceptions, and this is one of them. "Fighting Fate" is notable for having an actual melody line - unlike half of the songs in FF13.

EDIT: *listens to Auron's Theme* Oh my god the PS2 has, like, exactly the same midi sound set as my computer. It's a cool song, but the melody line sounds so fake to me. I'm not even sure exactly what I mean by that, but it does...

Heheh, because I'm a hipster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOTI8j1egZg&list=FLaFa2bUV-jIoedJN6CyBgnw&index=53&feature=plpp_video
My favourite tunes tend to be of the SNES Final Fantasies, although the series' music is top notch overall. This game had a very awesome, unique soundtrack, and it's one of my favourites.

It just came to my mind, but this track kind of reminds me of F-Zero.

Spoke to my friend who works in the bar yesterday, and he told me about an opera he went to recently. A Final Fantasy opera. This probably won't be new information to some of you, but this sounded pretty awesome to me, that there are yearly orchestral concerts that do all the FF music from across the series. I'm so going when they come around again, I'm not an opera fan but this sounds epic.
