Then again, I'm probably reading it wrong.

I want to know why, I trust you though.
Because Rabbit activates on the field. And if you read the text it prevents cards in the Banish Zone from Activating. This isn't Skill Drain. Alice Moonflowyr
You can Veiler rabbit, so therefore it activates on the field! ... owait. other way round. Mysty
Wait, where does Grapha activate that lets it avoid this?
Grapha's summon from the graveyard is an inherent summon. However, Soul Drain does stop Grapha from destroying anything with its effect. Zauls
This card wins games completely on its own against mermanteans and dark worlds. Amazing card if you can't run macro cosmos.
Zeta Reticulant's effect to summon a token is a Trigger Effect and it starts a chain. Soul Drain will prevent Zeta Reticulant from summoning tokens. You're looking for effects that do not activate so effects like Phantom Beast Cross-Wing.

b0b3rt
Skill Drain doesn't stop activation of effects, only the resolution. Rabbit activates on the field and resolves in the banished zone, dodging both Soul and Skill Drain.
