Lets Discuss Lightsworns

Concept was "somewhat" of a game breaker when they first came out, just for shenanigans with Zombies, Chaos monsters, etc, etc.
Their engine: Charge + Recharge-spam, is still viable every now and then.
They still have a pretty amusing monster lineup: Ryko has Hamster+others, Lyla is an endless Breaker, Ehren laughs at walls, Lumina is a Zombie Master, Celestia is basically a Monarch, etc...
Their "boss", ironically, turns the whole deck into a 1-Trick-Pony and holds it back. Despite all this versatility, your main focus is just dropping JD without caring what your monsters can and cant do.
-Just for arguments sake, and despite the image, JD doesn't exist in this topic-
Discuss Lightsworns, as a whole.

The objective of Lightsworns is to self-mill for various advantage (the most prominent of which is dropping JD). By that definition, gragonith would be the "main boss" of lightsworns, because they all build up to him being at full power. Except, he'd be an extremely mediocre main boss. The fact remains that dropping JD and the lightrays is the main goal of lightsworns. Without beefy powerhouses, like those, the deck can't really do much.

You just defined every good deck in yugioh.

Gravekeepers don't need bosses to win.

My point is, the Lightsworbs really don't have much synergy with each other. All they have in common is the name and the mill.

Rinyan is a small Avarice.
Wulf Summons itself if milled.
Garoth lets you draw more, if you mill.
Saber automatically equips if milled.
Realm of Light turns your Sworns into beaters
????????????

Lumina at 3 with JD banned? Hell yeah! =D Half the time I don't draw OR mill the damn JDs anyway. <_<

I had JD in my opening hand or a draw or two away in my DM match against Claire. I got lucky a lot. Anyway, I like running the Twilight variation. Not as consistent, but it's pretty fun to see your opponent squirm when Necro goes into the Grave.

i resent this.

just kidding.

i dunno. lightsworns are tricky. theres a lot of bad ones (and YES, wulf is a bad one. a level 4 monster that you cant normal and doesnt mill? okay.) but the ones that are good are really good and tend to work fairly well outside a pure lightsworn deck. i havent seen a lightraysworn in use but it sounds like a good fun deck to play against.

The last few comments really surprised me; I never actually played LS but I thought Wulf was one of the good cards, despite it being 'situational'. I thought Lumina would deal with any dead wulves anyway, like all the other 'dead-in-hand' cards LS run(\ran?).
Is it a relitively new insight people suddenly had?

I'm actually quite a big fan of Necro Gardna and ALWAYS run him, even if it's not a Twilight variant. Just my personal choice though.

Honestly, I'm probably the only person on this site that absolutely loves Wulf. Especially with my PlantSworns. Put Wulf on top of deck for Plaguespreader. Mill top card for Bulb. Summon Wulf since it was milled. Proceed into shenanigans.
