The Voice of Heaven
You must climb...

The town of Anaberg has been booming recently. New developments are being built. Businesses are moving in. And in the center of it all is what are being called the "Anaberg Ruins," ancient buried ruins discovered just along the outskirts of the city. For ancient buried ruins, they were well built and strangely well-preserved, allowing the city to turn the first few rooms of the ruins as a museum of sorts, leading to the boom we have today.

The only problem, well if it is a problem, is that nobody knows what the ruins were for. Symbols were found carved all over the building, and while it is obvious that is a language of sorts, it is not any language known by anyone in modern times. A few small crystals were found in containers as well, although they are made of an unknown material. Its fascinating, and since the ruins run deep, new discoveries are always being made. Historians predict that they may be able to figure out something within the next few years.

Perhaps you've lived in Anaberg since you were young, and was there when the whole 'Ruin Fever' began. Perhaps you are an archaeologist or other researcher there to examine the ruins. Maybe a tourist on vacation, or an entrepreneur looking to capitalize on the boom. For whatever reason, you find yourself in Anaberg, knowing nothing about what will happen to you next...
Welcome to "The Voice of Heaven" RP! Set in modern times, this RP centers around strange ruins that were discovered about 50 years ago in the (generic) town of Anaberg. Let me spoil a little about what will happen: You will find yourself transported into a strange, hostile world where the goal is to climb a tower to its peak. Fortunately, you will have special abilities you can use called 'Fragments', stored in small crystals you will find along the way. As you climb, your goal will be to collect as many fragments as you can, but you can gain more powerful abilities by combining fragments, so you can gain even more power... it'll just slow down your progress.

You won't spend all your time in the otherworld, of course. You'll be sent between the real world and the otherworld during the course of the story, and there will be problems in the real world to solve. Perhaps your abilities from the otherworld could help. You will even be able to learn how to read the unreadable text from the ruins; it may contain useful information that you can use in the otherworld.
To use fragments, you must speak in the 'Voice of Heaven', an ability you gain once you enter the otherworld. The Voice of Heaven is strange, all who hear it hear it in their native language; whichever one they are most comfortable with. Invoking a fragment by calling its name using the Voice allows you to use its ability. Simple, right? There are just two things to note.

First, only you know what fragments you have. Outside of your starting fragment, which everyone in the group will know, any fragments your character gains will be PMed to you; their abilities will be only known to the others once your character actually invokes them.

Second, each Fragment has three stats: Point Value, Rank, and Exhaustion. Point Value is self explanatory; its how much the fragment is worth towards the goal. Exhaustion is a percentage value of how much the fragment tires you out. The value given is for when the Fragment is used at full power; many fragments don't need to be used at full power to be effective; some can *only* be used at full power. Finally, Rank will come into play when fusing fragments.

By combining two fragments, one can gain a new, more powerful fragment. By PMing me two fragments you own, a 'Core' fragment and a 'Sacrificed' fragment, you will lose those two fragments, and get a new fragment based on the ones given up. The mechanics are obviously not known, but one can experiment...

1) Advance clause is in effect (isn't it always in effect?). See the RP rules thread for details.
2) Whenever you speak in the Voice of Heaven, whether you're invoking a fragment or not, the text must be blue.
3) The host's word is final. Whatever I say happens happened.
4) There will be penalties if you try to use abilities that you do not have. Keep up to date with your fragment list.
5) Your character will be controlled to keep the story moving if you are inactive. Please be active, or give notice if you cannot.

Remove everything in parenthesis. Put as much information in each section as you think necessary for your character. Any images must be in spoiler tags.

This RP will end when the tower is cleared, but what happens during the RP and after the tower is cleared is up to you.

...also, tags are being really odd today...

Do I sense a military guy in your character, Renegade? :D

Anyway, I'm definitely interested. Obviously, this aint the type of RP to reserve, but this is more of a note for me than anything. A reminder. So yeah, I'll fix an app together.

You referring to me? Erm, I'm not Renegade.

I dunno. Prolly not, but I'm just wondering and keeping my options open.

This is the coolest rp i've seen in the longest time. I must give you props for coming up with such a thing.

With that said, here is my app:

Character Name: Surge Phoenix

Username: BLUR

Age: 20
25ytx88.jpg

Surge was born in Anaberg. He was raised by his two loving parents and had quite a peaceful and quiet life. In school, Surge had always been a top student, and had become known for his high intellect. Because of this high intellect, Surge had an interest in the Anaberg Ruins. Whereas everything else he managed to at least theorize about if not understand, the ruins was the one enigma that Surge was never able to comprehend. As a child, he would always play around the ruins. However, as he grew older and older, his fascination with the ruins grew into an obsession, as he would spend most of his time around the ruins, attempting to find out even the slightest piece of information about the ruins' history. He regarded the ruins as the greatest challenge in his life. When the "ruin fever" occured, Surge was a bit annoyed that he no longer had the ruins all to himself. His obsession with the ruins slowly dwindled, until he gave up on the ruins altogether, an action that Surge had never experienced before. At the age of 20, on the exact day a year after Surge had given up on the ruins, he decided to go take one more look at the thing, if not to get any information, to at least reminisce on some old memories. Little did he know, that decision would change his life.
Skills:

Superior Intellect- Surge's intellect far surpasses that of any normal human being. Even geniuses look like the average people when compared to Surge. This can be handy in combat, due to Surge's vast knowledge of human anatomy. He knows your weakpoints.

Master Strategist- He is very good at forming and executing effective strategies. In fact, Surge is undefeated in the game of chess!

Starting Fragment Name: Chemia Mutare

Starting Fragment Effect: Elemental Transmutation - The ability to alter chemical elements changing them from one substance to another by rearranging the atomic structure. May be limited to self-transmutatio

If you dissaprove of the fragment effect or find any other fault just tell me

Yeah why not, I can run an rp and play in one at the same time.

Character Name: Richter Voros (Rick-turr Voh-row-s)
Username: Majoras
Age: 26
Appearance: Richter is a fairly average looking man, as far as athleticism or anything of the sort goes. He's always made an attempt to be healthy, but never went out of his way to make sure he was muscular. However, he was a soccer player in his hey-day of high school and the beginning of college, so he is rather quick on his feet. His appearance is much more a businessman now, however, rather than that of a soccer player. He is always dressed much nicer than the man standing next to him, and knows it too. He has a nice beard running along his jawline; not too much, not too little, just enough to be attractive, and sharp Green eyes. His smooth hair is typically loosely gelled back to have to all face behind him without making him look like a sleezeball. Reference: Henrik Lundqvist http://www.whatsupyasieve.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/henrik2.jpg

History: Richter was an owner of a very popular bar and restaurant in town that his father used to own, operative word being was. For a short while after this whole "ruins" business turned up and into Richter's lifetime as an owner, and his father's passing, the restaurant was more popular than ever before, and he was making a load of money. That was until the entire damn town was flooded by restaurants, competing businesses and dirty businessmen that used cheaper, less quality ingredients to make a fast buck on the customers. As much as it irked Richter that he was using better ingredients and being a better owner than the others, he wasn't stupid; he was losing money, and fast. He eventually had to sell the store in order to keep his life from going downhill in rapid fashion. This disturbed him; he felt betrayed by the town. How could they not support a homegrown restaurant like Richter's? Well, he knew the answer. Everyone was in it for the riches around here ever since the ruins showed up; there are hardly any remaining original citizens from Anaburg. Luckily Richter was a smart investor, and still had plenty of money around to keep himself comfortable, but that wasn't what mattered to him. He wanted his restaurant back, and he would do anything to have it again. It was one day when he was sitting in his home atop the highest point of Anaburg, looking at the ruins that he had realized what he must do. He would have to find what was in the ruins himself; perhaps it could help him get everything back. He started eating healthier, and training again as if he was the soccer star he remembered being so fondly in school. Today's the day is his motto, and he will stick to it everyday until he get's it all back.

Skills: Quick on his feet both physically and mentally, and has a good idea of "the big picture", fantastic cook.
Starting Fragment Name: Today's The Day  (Haha, that's hilariously cheesy, I'm sorry. I can change it if you want)
Starting Fragment Effect: Raises his spirits, giving him better overall physical abilities (Jump higher, run faster, fight harder, get back up after something particularly debilitating, etc., and pending your answer, could also be used to people around him but, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.)

Other: (Any other notes about the character, affiliations, etc) Richter has a tendency to go out of his way to solve a problem, and many times will drive himself to exhaustion in order to do it, even if it benefits him in no way personally.
