It has been a while since I played the game seriously, but I have always enjoyed playing with ideas. So here is a card I designed a while ago. I like effect monsters and prefer guile over brute force, and I would like some criticism on this one. When switched to attack mode, this card can flip one of the opponent's face down monsters. If that monster is an effect monster, its effect is not resolved. When switched to defense mode, this card designates one of the opponent's attack mode monsters. That monster cannot attack until this card switches to attack mode. When this card is destroyed as a result of battle, you gain control of the attacking creature. WHenever a spell card is activated, you may change the Position of this card. Updated Card Lore: If this card is changed to Attack Position: Target 1 Set monster your opponent controls; change it to face-up Attack or Defense Position and its effects are negated. If this card is changed to Defense Position: Target 1 Attack Position monster your opponent controls; its effects are negated and it cannot attack while this card is in Defense Position. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's attacking monster: Take control of that monster. Whenever a spell card is activated, you may change the Position of this card. Aix Posted June 3, 2013 Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 Welcome to the Forum.Frankly, it's too weak and too slow to be of any use, though that's undoubtedly because you've been away from the game. You could always play online on sites such as DuelingNetwork if you don't want to invest in cards (which is what I do).It's unclear whether you are flipping to Attack Position, Defense Position or either of your choice.It's a nice concept, it would benefit from also negating the effects of any monster it targets and possibly a minimal attack decrease. It could also have some higher stats to increase playability.OCG (Official Card Grammar) Fix with my suggested Fixes:If this card is changed to Attack Position: Target 1 Set monster your opponent controls; change it to face-up Attack Position or Defense Position and its effects are negated. I'm not sure yet though, whether or not to give it extra ATK/DEF, and if so, how much. Or would it perhaps benefit from some amount of damage mitigation when it is attacked? Therrion Posted June 3, 2013 Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 An interesting card, but the part that grabbed my attention was that last sentence. I just love the idea of taking opponent's creatures. Anyways, creative. I don't see a specific use for it, and any combo would be to minor of one to compensate, but luckily you added that last sentence in there. That made is playable, to an extent. I like this idea, maybe make a "Cthonios" and make them a set or something where it would gain some sort of ability from having both eyes on the field? There are alot of possibilities you have here. Lots of dark types, though I haven't yet figured out a good gimmick for them yet, so for now I keep making loose cards in the hopes of finding something to do with them. Related cards so far are Chthonic Weapon Master, Chthonic Phylactery and perhaps Protean Shadowdrake Looking at random pictures on google has helped alot wiht making some of my cards, I useally base the card on a image that I find.
