Gothiatas, A Gothic-Themed Archetype

The Gothiatas are a team of DARK monsters that focus on getting rid of opposing monsters, dealing damage, and putting pressure on the opponent. All the while, they work to make Black Pentacle Counters, which if you have enough of them, can win you the game!  Whether you use the high-level monsters to annihilate your opponent or use Gothiatas Citadel to make lots of counters, your opponent will find no respite!

It looks interesting, but Gothic Citadel is a bit over powered, maybe you can change it to 20 counters?

At that point, it might be too unreliable as a win condition, but you do have a point. Since there are many ways a monster can be sent from the field to the graveyard, it might be too strong(cards like Pentacle Master, Somber Gate, and Seal don't help). I decided that I would change it to the "unlucky" number 13 for counters, and I think I might make the condition for Citadel's own counters to "when an opponent's monster is destroyed by battle". This also makes the Mistress/Apprentice combo slightly less game-changing, since you could go straight to 9 counters that way. If you think there is anything else worth tweaking, just say so.

I'm glad you like the set btw.

I like the idea of this archetype. I think that most of the cards you made are balanced and fair. My only suggestion is that you change the effect of Gothiatas Drain. You could still have the Trap Card destroy the summoned monster, but maybe you should change its effect so that you gain a specific amount of Life Points. I would go with gaining 800 Life Points, but that's just me. Other than that, good job!

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad to see that you like the set and are willing to offer advice. At its current power, Gothiatas Drain would only let you gain more than 800 Life Points if the monster's DEF was more than 1600. While there are a very large number of monsters that have that high DEF, it would usually not let you gain too much more (banishing Blue-Eyes would get you 1250 additional Life Points, which isn't much higher). However, the fact that it's basically a Solemn Warning that increases your Life Points means that a reduction might not be a bad idea.

800 seems like a good number, so I might change it to that. Thank you for posting!

somber gate iz not that gothic...it's from Lotr after all....and nightshade would be abused by soooooooo many decks

I actually have never seen Lotr, so I had no idea that was where Somber Gate's image came from. I would have never guessed...

On Nightshade, yeah, looking at its effect again, I realized you could get a free Mirror Force or something if it goes to the Graveyard from the field for any reason. I think I might change it to only being able to add a "Gothiatas" Trap Card, since most of them aren't too OP if they get added to your hand.

Thank you for pointing that out. I really appreciate the feedback.
