[Therrion DDC 3/22] Divine Wind Dragon!

Another "Synchro Inspired Xyz", looking at the powerful Mist Wurm!

It offers the option of returning 1 of your own, allowing it to work with Divine Wind of the Mist Valley, though in most cases you won't have 4 WIND monsters, so I guess that will hardly ever be used. I made sure it works upon Summon so it doesn't fail to Bottomless empty handed. The last effect is thrown on to make it somewhat mroe playable.

When this card is Summoned: You can detach 3 Xyz Materials from this card; Target up to 3 cards your opponent controls. Return those cards to their owner's hand. While your opponent has 4 or more cards in their hand, this card cannot be targeted by opponent's card effects.

Limited in the decks that it can be used, but where it can, it is probably abuseable. Harpies can get this bad boy out fast, and then suddenly your opponent no longer has to worry about a deck that can get out Big Eye and Dracossack in a second flat, but also a card that can open up the door for a great deal of damage. I feel as if it is pretty abuseable. Maybe add a discard cost and lower the ATK by 100? All in all, it is an interesting card, and definitely useful, but just a tad bit more powerful than it probably should be.

It has less ATK then a Mist Wurm and is more difficult to Summon. The immunity effect was to make up for the already lack of ATK I placed on the card (falling below 2500 is a big deal). There isn't any real way to abuse it, especially since you can only target your monsters (would've been very different had he been granted the ability to bounce your S/T also, causing CotH/etc. replays). If it is the immunity that seems questionable, I could up the count required up to 5 as opposed to 4, but that shouldn't change much as it will only be immune the turn it is Summoned, basically.

it's not that the card is broken, its just that it feels abuseable in wind decks, it's not really a bad card, it just has that abuseable feel (like catastor does). the card's good, the effect feels somewhat balanced, but there's just something off about it that makes it feel lite it's more broken than it is...

 

and now I know the reason. this needs to be done:

"When this card is XYZ Summoned: You can detach 3 Xyz Materials from this card; Target up to 1 monster you control and up to 3 cards your opponent controls. Return those cards to their owner's hand. While your opponent has 4 or more cards in their hand, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects."

 

(or alternatively just opponent's card effects, but that seems bit cruel seeing as this cards immortality relies on your opponents hand size from the start)

 

There!! It needed to be a bit more strict in it's wording. when a card isn't specific or strict enough in it's wording, it leaves too much room for interpretation, and that leads to severe abuse when future cards come out. the feeling I was getting came from it not being specific enough.

It would make it absolutely useless if it is forced to return 1 you control, requiring 4 monsters to even Summon this and keep it. I could make it not say up to on the opponent's cards, requiring they have 3 cards prior to this card's Summon, and remove bouncing on your side entirely. I just didn't want it to be a straight up weaker Mist Wurm for more.

I'll tinker with it a bit.

You have to keep in mind this has to be a valid option over Lightning Chidori, as Chidori bottom of the decks a set card, then top decks a face-up card (far more powerful then a bounce of 3 anyday, as it removes 1 entirely, and basically bounces 1 then Time Seals opponent) for 1 less material then this card.
