A nostalgic fusion of two old monsters

Man-Ambusher Bug:

So this was a random spur-of-the-moment card I felt like making, mostly because I got the idea in my head to make a fusion monster like the simple effectless fusions made from two otherwise useless random monsters from way back in the day. I liked the idea of combining Man-Eater Bug and Arsenal Bug, because why not? This is also a good time for me to start interacting with the site again since it's been almost two years since I uploaded a card here. In any case, I hope you like the idea, and my subpar artistic talents. Comment, rate, criticize, and enjoy!

Lore: "Man-Eater Bug" + "Arsenal Bug"

When this card is Fusion Summoned, select 1 monster on the field and destroy it. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Flip Effect Monsters. When this card attacks a face-down monster, its original ATK becomes 3000. The effects of face-down monsters attacked by this card are negated.

"You might think you'd be able to see a giant yellow insect with razor-sharp claws and bright crimson eyes from a mile away, but that's just what it wants you to believe!"

Not too shabby. Unfortunately, this card would be blown apart by the current meta. However, thinking in terms of the olden days, this card would have seen some serious play. A monster pop on SUmmon is nice, and back then flip effect like Hane-Hane and Mean-Eater Bug were a nuisance when you tripped them, so I certainly like the anti-flip clause. While it starts low, I think the theme of "ambushing" a face-down card and having the attack raise when doing so is quite clever, but it negates face-down effects, another handy piece.

A very solid card overall, it needed to exist back in the original run of Yugioh :P The meta is just too much for this.

Thank you very much, and now that you mention it, I agree entirely. This would have been a godsend in the good ol' days. I wanted to try and play off of Man-Eater Bug and Arsenal Bug's effects without compromising either one. I was actually afraid it might be too broken since you can flip your Man-Eater Bug, fusion summon this, and kill off two monsters between them. And heck, if you have the luck to bring back your Arsenal Bug, you've got another low-level 2000 ATK bug on the field. Still, in the newer scheme of things, this one probably wouldn't hold up.

Thanks again!

Balance/Playability

Well, one of its materials is completely bad, and the other lacklustre. The fact it needs Polymerization only further harms it. It may be good in the future for being a Level 3 WIND Insect-Type Instant Fusion target (seeing the Cincada), but that is only a maybe. The destroy upon Summon is decent, making his Summon a -1 as opposed to a -2. The situational ATK boost is, well, situational and thus bad.

Flavour/Originality

Well, first I must say I love you for making a Poly pursued Fusion, especially of old monsters. I feel nostalgia. The name is well done, the picture is nicely drawn and chosen for such a Fusion. Not too original of an effect, but hey, everything doesn't have to be original 100%.

Suggestions/Additional Comments

It could permanently have 2000/2000, and people would be like "Well, it does have Arsenal Bug in its veins!" That would help it SOMEWHAT. You could also make the destroy for any card so your opponent wouldn't basically need a monster for you to want to Summon this. Also, it'd be better make the effects of any card this thing battles negated while in the field or grave. Crossed out Fusion as I feel you don't need it, but it doesn't matter all too much.

When this card is Fusion Summoned: Destroy 1 card your opponent controls. Negate the effects of monsters this card battles (on the field and in the Graveyard).

I think I can agree on most of your points. First, thank you for joining in my nostalgia, and second, thank you for at least liking the image, since I thrive off of compliments for my drawings. I might take your advice and modify its ATK and level to make it a little more useful outside of just smiting face-down cards, and I completely forgot to make its effect so it can destroy any monster, not just your opponent's (I originally planned to, but it totally slipped my mind until you brought it up, so thank you). I felt that allowing it to insta-kill monsters when its summoned by any means would be too powerful. But if other people agree with you, I'll probably change it. I'm also going to wait to change its negate-effect effect because I felt like being anti-face-down would be more unique to the card (even if it's not as useful). Again, I'll definitely change it if more reviewers want me to beef it up.

Thank you for your review!

8-Claws Scorpion has the ATK boost higher upon attacking a face-down Monster. (Goes to 2400)

Reverse Buster negates the effects and instantly kills. (Though he has drawbacks in only being able to kill face-down monsters, the stats your fusion has doesn't have enough ATK to kill anything face-up in most scenarios regardless)

Both are Normal Summonable. I just feel like this guy could do more, and needs to, to be worth the Summoning.
