First to 3 votes, wins. Loser gives a Like to the winner.

Use this site's Card Maker, submit card via PM.

Card due date: 10/7/13 Deadline: 10/12/13

Requirements: Create a Dragon-Type Extra Deck monster. (Be it Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz. Though, of course, remember to balance it/make it playworthy)

Card A:

htFN7fk.jpg

2 level 8 Dragon-type monsters
When this card attacks, cards effect cannot be activated until the end of the damage step. Once per turn, when a monster you control destroys a monster by battle, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and have this card gains 1000 ATK until your opponent's next End Phase. If you do, destroy 1 card you control and 2 cards your opponent controls during the End Phase.

Card B:

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card was Special Summoned, except by Synchro Summon, it cannot be banished while on the field. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can banish this card and target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy it, then inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's DEF. During the End Phase, if this card was banished by this effect, Special Summon it.

Card B is interesting. It has solid, above-average stats for a Level 7 Synchro and has a simple, one-shot destruction effect. It's generic so its competition is usually Black Rose Dragon. To be honest, if I wanted removal in the form of a Level 7, I'd much rather nuke the field than rely on battle destruction. Granted it has gratuitous protection against banishing, so there's that. It has a variety of niches it can fit in, as a Level 7 generic can fit in a lot of places... which usually have much better alternatives rather than just BRD.

Card A has a similar issue: the other Rank 8 options available are almost completely better than it: Giant Grinder, Heliopolis, Felgrand. This isn't even generic. However, right off the bat, the battle protection it has already outclasses Tachyion Dragon, another Rank 8 choice. The ATK increasing effect is flat-out unneeded if you ask me - it only works during your opponent's turn pretty much, and it's not very likely that they'll attack it anyway.

The thing with both of these cards is that they require battle interaction to function... while other cards which belong to the same Level and Rank respectively can already do it without having to worry about attacking.

So casting a vote is difficult. In the end, I'll go for Card A. The no effects clause makes the battle reliance less of a liability, and it has an (albeit small) niche in Rank 8 whereas Card B's seems really narrow.

Card A essentially blocks card effects while it attacks; becomes 3900 ATK until opponent ends and nukes 3 cards on the field (inverted Two-Pronged Attack); though it does require you to destroy a monster first (which will likely happen due to this card negating any effects that would hinder any chance of destroying monsters).

Card B is nice (and is generic; so could be run over Black Rose if needed [stats are relatively decent for a Level 7]); but its effect of banishing itself and destroying monsters/inflicting damage would only work once (since its first effect of being unable to be banished on the field contradicts it). Though the 1st effect does provide it some protection against Decks that like to banish things. For its damage effect, damaging based on DEF is an interesting concept (considering that most cards that deal effect damage focus on the ATK stat). Also, the OCG is better in this case.

With everything considered, I'll vote for Card A (TBH, both are good in their own right and while card A's OCG isn't proper, the effect is more likely to be usable)

I don't like how Card B becomes a Vanilla after a single use of its effect. While I understand that that clause is to prevent this card from being abused, it just doesn't let this card thrive like I feel it should. I'd rather go into BRD than this for my generic Level 7 Synchro.

Card A is a bit interesting. Like Mugen, I feel the ATK gain isn't needed. It can create a massive beatstick that can't be stopped when it attacks. And the generic Iscarus Attack effect it has is a double-edged sword if this is the only card you have, but I doubt you would let that happen if they were using this. Though, it does make a bit of sense since this is a Type-Specific Xyz.

TBH, both cards have problems. Though, I vote for Card A since it can be used more than once and it can serve as a greater threat than Card B.

Ain popped my 1v1 October-December cherry D:

Grats Ain, I got 3-0ed.

Since I lost, I'd like to talk about my card and my opponent's card.

Currently, the option for Level 7 is Black Rose for nuke. With that in mind, I wished to create a card that could be use in the opposite scenario that a Black Rose Dragon would be gone into, one where you have a good amount of backrow on the field. With this in mind, I went for a more offensive monster with a good ATK stat compared to many generic Synchros of the Rank. A smart player would go into it of course knowing they can protect it during the Battle Phase, or when they doubt their opponent has anything to stop them. While yes, I ensured the balance of my card via creative limit on effect, I also added protection for the trade-off, and a 2600 Beater with immunity to things like Prison/Caius isn't weak for the Level at all.

My opponent's card, not being generic, has trouble finding a home. It would maybe be ran in Blue-Eyes, but as addressed, Felgrand is better with its all around protection as a quick effect. This card's 1000 boost is hardly worth of note, the battle phase protection being the only true noteworthy thing on the card. The last effect is mandatory, making situations where you rid yourself of a 2 Specific mat Rank 8 simply to 0 (-1 Xyz, +1 Effect, Break even). The effect overall is underwhelming assuming you don't land a direct hit with this thing boosted, and it not being on the 3000 threshold only hurts it more compared to other options such as Heliotropis.

Eternal Flame Dragon's main problem is the one-time usage, while other level 7s can give you more oomph by either not being one-time use or by being just more powerful. But it's a great card, would be ran alongside black rose.

As for my card, I admit that I overlooked a lot of things in it(last effect being mandatory and too specific comes to mind), but this card was meant to be a final-push card, to deal that last damage to your opponent for game, while not being an actual OTK card, due to this being hard to spam. The icarus effect is made as a mean to wear down the opponent's resource if the push failed. The boost being triggered by an attack hitting is what made this card suffer, should've triggered on an attack declaration.

Anyway, this is a good round. I hope we can learn more from this. So, thanks Therrion and the voters!
