I mean, prepubescent kid possessed by the spirit of an older person using a spell card (or group of spells anyways) to counter the godlike immunity of a very powerful monster whose effects sound like they were made up on the spot with its owner merged to it that is having their face distort as they try to fight with their better half who summarily throws the duel in the favour of the possessed kid? Yeah, he got creamed in the end, but out of all of them, he did the most.Not to say the others didn't do something; well, it varied in terms of what everyone was up against (Sora and Phoenix had the luxury of full LP, but even then, they got bombed once Zarc appeared.)SKSD Starve Venom is a piercer now; meh, fine.A little DM flashback (recall Marik); Yuya tries to break free from Zarc's control and ultimately pulls off a plot device to restore Reira/Ray's LP and get fodder out for Reira to blow up via the Bracelet cards.Ray seals Zarc inside herself, but as Reira is currently her holding vessel, does this imply he died at this point? Judging from this, it also appears that the Yu girls are gone as well at this point. (Next episode preview shows a newborn, but could be Yuzu reincarnated or something)Just wish we could find out what the hell applies afterwards instead of jumping into the Maiami Championship starting again (why?) Standard shuld have gone first to activate crossover, not Xyz. and i think making gong the synchro rival was a bad idea from the start, even with the juxtapose. Blake Posted February 1, 2017 Report Share Posted February 1, 2017 Honestly, for Zarc's episodes, outside of Crow and Sora having 0 impact, the whole thing boils down to "really good ideas, mediocre or bad application" The Xyz and Synchro duels were really good, and Jack/Gong was a better duo than I expected it to be. Sawatati's duel was also funking amazing, the issue was just that Crow has no funking purpose. Zarc having another layer of AHAHA funk YOU felt perfectly in theme. It wasn't like Don Thousand's level. At all. (Figured the episode would be uploaded just after I went to bed on Sunday night) [spoiler=Thoughts on 140 Subbed (aka Initial thoughts)]- So it turned out Zarc actually created Pendulum (and emerged in Standard out of revenge) after the world was split via the Flower cards.- I like how Reiji summoned the evolutions of his original ED guys in one turn like how he did in his duel with Yuya.- That Marik-esque face distortion though.- Good thing Tsukikage got Reira into the duel just before Reiji lost the rest of his LP, though with him channeling Ray, I wonder if he always had all of that hair, though I suspect it was as a result of Ray- So with Ray taking in Zarc, it certainly raises some questions as to what happened with the Yu girls, the newborn in the preview, what happened to Reira (is he said newborn?). I suppose we'll find out on Sunday.- Also returning to the Maimi Championship eh? Ok, though to be fair, it was never resolved after the Battle Royale and its purpose to find Lancers.- Sawatari bringing up his father again in the preview... *shudders* (then again I shuddered when the Shivers kid said Shivers) [spoiler=Thoughts on 142 preview]I suppose it makes sense that they forget what happened. (Well, they recollected from the pre-Synchro arc)A lot of old cards came back here. Reira revived as a child, but his fate depends on Yuya at this point. As a result of whatever happened between now and 140, Yuya seems to have forgotten everything that's happened. Of course, everyone who got carded came back. Why am I not surprised that all Yuya's mother talks about is Michio when the Maiami Championship came up (well, and her own son, but meh).Oh right, and the first opening (well, sequence) came back. I Hate Snatch Steal Posted February 6, 2017 Report Share Posted February 6, 2017 Well, I'd already lost interest in Arc-v's protagonist and thus most of the characters long ago. Nonetheless I still watch the series for the dueling. However: [spoiler=execution over concept]The duel against Zarc could have been good and really fun to watch via the other characters working together to bring him down. Somewhat like certain boss battles in video games where you rotate in characters as your active ones get taken out. The concept is certainly a twist from the "Protagonist vs big bad followed by a warp up duel between main characters" finale that has become standard for yugioh. Not that I'm complaining about that style of finale, the execution of it that makes or breaks it after all. However it felt to me like the fact that all the characters except Reira did was meet the requirements for plot device cards used by Reira. Those activation requirements weren't even needed script wise and were a failed attempt to make the others' efforts seem relevant. I would have enjoyed it if Sawatari managed to destory Zarc [the card] with his spell cards, even if that didn't win him the duel right then because of some other twist. As much as I dislike Sawatari's attitude, him finding Zarc's weakness with the help of the other characters would have been a true moment of "wow, didn't see that one coming". Anyone using what the other characters had done and revealed in a clever way to stop Zarc via reasonable cards would be an improvement over the plot device cards used. But we shall see. 144: Oh yay, Dennis came back. Whether or not he shows anything that can make EMEm work again remains to be seen. Oh wait, scratch that because said Deck was a pain to deal with in its prime. 145: Can't say I blame Shun for being pissed off at Yuya, and causing Ruri to disappear, but hopefully he doesn't revert to his anger mode that a lot of us disliked back then. Attacking Leo is understandable, considering what he did to Ruri in the first place. Probably will be same length as ZEXAL; 146 episodes (I don't remember if Japan has any holidays between today and whenever YGO 6 starts, other than Golden Week). Good to see him and Yuya finally duel, it's seemed like something that really should have happened in the series by this point. Shun as well, actually. Good to know we're getting a final stand from Gongenzaka as well, where he can hopefully go out with some of the dignity he lost in the second half of the series.
