The Pen & Sword Lounge

Writing Club & Organization

Created by ~Renegade~

Inspired by the Writer's Guild!

When we write...

The Pen & Sword Lounge

...we become gods.

The lone figure walks down what once was probably busy a street. He could almost imagine it now. Stalls lining the sides, calling out to passerby about their products. Children running to and fro. The sun shining down on glorious buildings and structures. Of course, this was all just in the imagination of the figure. Now, the area was abandoned. Cracks and holes decorated the main street and mother nature had long since begun her work in reclaiming the previously urbanized area. Clouds covered the sky and the air hinted at rain. The figure would need a place to stay, but the buildings were all dark. All except one. It appeared to be an old book store. It's neon sign had long since died out, but the lights inside were on and spread an orange glow around the otherwise grey landscape. The lone figure shrugged, what was the harm. He opened the door, a bell rang signalling his entrance. Little did he know that he would be entering the building that he would soon see as more of a home than any other place he had visited in his travels. Welcome to The Pen & Sword Lounge.

You do not have to have a title if you do not want one. Accepted!

1. Write
2. Fan fiction, realistic fiction, and sometimes horror.
3. Fan fiction and poetry. I'm not much of a reader.
4. Not sure, really. I started reading crack-induced pairings and I was inspired to write my own.

I guess I'll bite the Bullet~

Horus Lupercal reporting in.

1. Do you prefer to write or to review? - Probably to write, but I don't exactly mind critiquing. I just happen to be annoyingly lazy for both.

2. What genre do you like to write about? - Generally dark fantasy or Dark Sci-Fi. I find darker fiction a joy to write about since there's less restriction on what I feel like I can or can't do, and those two genre's stick out a lot since both of them add to that. Plus, reality tends to be rather boring I find.

3. What form of writing do you enjoy the most(Short story, novel, poem, etc)? - Generally Novels. I only like writing poetry with a friend of mine, since despite everything I struggle at capturing the beauty in the words by myself for poetry.

4. Why do you write? Is there someone that inspired you to write? - I write because I love losing myself in something that's not reality, and to shape different realities instead. And because there's a beauty in the written word that's a struggle to find anywhere else (Hence the love of reading and writing). Nobody has really inspired me to write I guess.

5. Any special title you would like to hold? - Not really. Not particularly earned any.

So we are to write a short story then?

I'm assuming that's for when more members join.

Also, two pages is pretty short for a story with a surprise ending. Irony usually requires build-up to have any significant effect on the reader.

Yes, if you want to be entered in the challenge. Once I have decided on a due date, and that due date is reached, I will post all the short stories that I have received and then things will be left to vote(most likely via poll). I intend on entering as well, but I guess we'll see if that is a possibility later on down the road.

So is anyone working on something anything in particular right now?

You're right, don't know what I was thinking for length. How does five pages sound? I don't want to give you guys too much space as that is part of the challenge as well.

I'm currently working on a pairing of Fusion and Clair. There are two scenes I still need to write, but it'll be worth it once I get it all done and proofread.

Nothing major tbh. I'm still slowly working on the fic I've had planned for about 6 months now.

I mean, really slowly since Exam revision has to get in the way, and I'm not exactly the fastest writer at the best of times.

It doesn't help that I planned it to be extremely ambitious in theory, and that I constantly worry that my writing style isn't giving it the justice I feel it deserves. But oh well~

I've always wanted to writing pairing fics(appeals to the romantic in me), but I can never quite capture what I imagine when I try.

I feel that on a personal level. I have just started to work on a fanfic myself, and I have big plans for it, but I also had big plans for the fic that I started on months ago that crashed and burned after three chapters that I didn't even publish.

<_<

There's been many attempts at this, but it's work another go. Submitting:

1. Writing
2. Fantasy/Action
3. Novels
4. Is because I have no social life, no girlfriend or partner, and nothing better to do a reason? Nah, in all seriousness I just... do? The characters make me enjoy it.
5. Eh, I might think of one later

Aix is actually a god in my current RP. lol

I know, which makes me laugh because you plays a character that worships himself.

Which brings up something else, as RPing does have a lot to do with writing it is something that can/will be brought up here(and also because I am a huge RP fanatic).

I also might as well fill out the questionnaire:

1. Do you prefer to write or to review? Write, but also want to do my part and offer any comments/advice I have to other writers

2. What genre do you like to write about? I like writing fanfic, but original fantasy is fun as well. I'm really up to try anything

3. What form of writing do you enjoy the most(Short story, novel, poem, etc)? Um...probably novel, but I don't have the continuing motivation to follow through

4. Why do you write? Is there someone that inspired you to write? I write because I'm a control freak. I hate not being able to control things, but in writing I can literally control everything.

5. Any special title you would like to hold? Jack of All Trades, Master of None

2. What genre do you like to write about?

Fan fiction, fantasy stuff I guess.

3. What form of writing do you enjoy the most(Short story, novel, poem, etc)?

The contest is indeed started, and I hope everyone will give it a go. I'll give everyone two weeks from now to get their submissions. Good luck!

On a different topic, I could use some help finding some decks that are fun to write about. Everything prior to Pendulum Monsters is up in the air, and I am having a hard time deciding what to do. Any suggestions?

1. Do you prefer to write or to review? Write, though riffviewing bad fics was fun

2. What genre do you like to write about? A lot of genres, but I seem to be better at comedies.

3. What form of writing do you enjoy the most(Short story, novel, poem, etc)?Poems and short stories. I like fanfics but the updating thing clashes with my procrastinative personality.

4. Why do you write? Is there someone that inspired you to write? Not really...I just....like it, and I think Im pretty good at it...

5. Any special title you would like to hold? DL is fine

Of course I should join.

Will give it a look, maybe. My next week of work looks s*** to be honest though but will try to find time.

*fingers crossed for new job soon*

As for decks, I haven't tried yet, but simply for hand and graveyard traps Bujin look funny as hell.

Well if there aren't enough entry by the due date, I will push it back.

I have been thinking about Bujins as well, just trying to create a character to match the play style. As of right now, I have...

An old-timey detective who is just learning how to duel - Chronomaly

Misguided, fiery youth - Battlin' Boxer

Natural leader girl - Noble Knights? Heroic Challenger/Champion?

I am thinking maybe cybers, what with their new support and all.

And DL, you are accepted :D

1. Do you prefer to write or to review?

Write! I just get too lazy to review cards; reviewing someone's fan-fiction makes it worse.

2. What genre do you like to write about?

Sci-Fi/Fantasy; Fanfictions sometimes but I got addicted at one time and had to stop. I mean, I could go with any genre as long as it has a supernatural element or something with pizaz to it.

3. What form of writing do you enjoy the most(Short story, novel, poem, etc)?

I've tried to do short stories, but I end up with novels. I do like to read short stories though; I don't have the time with long books right now. Also the fanfiction but still trying to hang in there.

4. Why do you write? Is there someone that inspired you to write?

I was told I had a voice by my 11 grade English teacher, Ms.T. I have a long life a self-esteem issues, so being told I have a talent in something has inspired me to take this path, but I believe I might have lost it.

5. Any special title you would like to hold? Sanji.

[spoiler=The good life] Download-Sanji-One-Piece-New-Wallpaper.j

If only I had the lungs of a English street walker and the suit, I would do this as I write.
