Card requirements: make a monster whose effect has to do with chaining (I. E. Blast Asmodian, Chain Fighter.)

Card submission deadline is 36 hours within approval. Voting deadline is 72 hours after cards are posted.

CARD A:

Lore:
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned by its own effect. During either player's turn, as Chain Link 3 or higher: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. This card is unaffected by Xyz Monsters' effects. You can only control 1 "Chained Brute"

CARD B:

Lore:
Once per turn, when a card effect is activated: you can chain this card with the appropriate effect, based on the card type that this card is being chained to:
@Monster: negate the effect; this card loses 400 ATK and DEF until the end phase.
@Spell: destroy one Spell or Trap card you control, then destroy one card your opponent controls.
@Trap: draw one card then discad one card.

Card A is little more than a vanilla with a limited degree of self-protection. Still, its Special Summon effect provides for some fun surprise factors in the Battle Phase (e.g. Mirror Force, Lance, this card). Not to say that it can't already work very well in the Main Phase when pulled off right. For a Chain interaction card, doesn't seem at home in Chain Burn, but sometimes a surprise beatstick might be all they need to access that Accumulated Fortune.

 

Card B is... odd, at least due to the nonstandard wording. It reminds me of Van'Dalgyon as it depends on the effect you're Chaining to. Variable effects are nice, but the options...

  • Monster effect negation is always welcome, but it's rare to see negation without destruction. Coupled with the stat drop, it just makes it easier to get destroyed in battle.
  • I'm not sure why you'd want to cause a miniature Scrap Dragon effect when a Spell Card is activated. Perhaps there are rare occasions where this is desired (e.g. messing with Fire Fists), but in those occasions this card sticks out like a sore thumb to the general strategy otherwise.
  • Cycling cards is always welcome, particularly in Chain Burn which wants to dig through the Deck as much as possible. But when the discard enables Dark World effects, it's a mild issue.

 

The issue with complexity is that while there's more potential, it also introduces more points of failure, and thus, more scenarios where its power level gets tested. My vote hence goes to Card A. Less is more, sometimes.

I'd vote for Card A here, it fits the theme more than Card B that can reworded into "...When a card or effect is activated: You can activate 1 of these effects, based on..." which not related to CL at all, effect-wise, while Xyz monsters still revelant, I feel Card A is a legit beatstick that not too hard to summon and can't be 101'd, Exciton'd or Castel'd. Card B is not bad, but since I think none of these outright broken or weak, I'll judge on Theme

Card A may pull some Rank 7 shenanigans and dropping a beater in Chain Burn, while unorthodox, might not be all that bad to do mid-chain. It has definite homes, which I like.

 

Card B is an oddball. The first effect is nice on a beater, and if the negation destroyed it'd be too much, so glad to see it doesn't. Spell effect is something I could see if they're using a Spell that'd destroy something of yours, like destroy your own backrow in responce to MST to blow something else up, which I guess is solid but easily seen through (oh, and you can stop Tenki, but that is also a clear as day play). As for that reaction to Trap Cards, it gets you further into your Deck, which is always nice, especially on your turn in a Chain Burn deck. Overall, a solid card, and you made the reaction to each type perfect.

 

It's hard for me to say, really, because I do like both cards. I will go with Card B however, as I feel it needs some love.

Card A requires two other cards to be activated prior to it being summoned, but then you can drop it for Rank 7 spam or as some tool to get rid of 101, Exciton and so on. It's essentially anti-Xyz fodder, which is helpful considering the current meta nowadays [and the aforementioned Exciton, 101 and some other common stuff are Xyz].

 

Card B negates a monster effect (though it becomes a 1400/1050 until End Phase); bombs 1 S/T you control to take out an opponent's card or just discards/re-draws.

 

As Gadj mentioned, monster negation w/out negation is rare (and will cause it to get run over a lot easier with the stat drop). Second effect works well with Fire Fists (or whatever needs to bomb their S/Ts), but situational. Last effect works for Dark Worlds (discarding) or Exodia variants for drawing pieces (assuming people even run him anymore). That being said, it doesn't really fit into the theme.

 

 

With that said, card A gets it.
