Celeia, Winged Goddess Of Charity (Xyz for Darklords & other big fairies)

Hi folks,
I decided to make this card to get more use from the tons of Lvl 8 Fairies (Darklords and others) in those Fairy decks (yup I know, those cards are very good as of now, but need some Xyz monsters imo). As you will see in the lore, the monster should hold up well for at least 2 turns. I decided to give extreme drawbacks once Celeia leaves the field. The drawback is there to ensure the player won't be able to Summon another 'Celeia' with the Xyz Materials detached from the first one (as Celeia might be Summoned using monsters from the field, hand and Graveyard). Also, the card becomes weaker over time and should be destroy-able by battle with regular boss monsters after 2 turns. The 'Charity' part of the effect (in reference to 'Graceful Charity') is the draw part of the effect. Below you can find the card and it's lore. Please give feedback and also tell if the card is OP (I don't think so tbh, partly because it's drawback at leaving the field blocks most other fairies' effects when they're all banished). Thanks in advance!
EDIT iii.: Changed the effect using suggestions from 'TheStarEnigma', 'Mugendramon' and 'Voltex Curse'. The effect is much more 'streamlined' now; I do also hope the OCG is fixed with the new version. I removed the banish part of the effect and also the possibility to use Fairies from the Graveyard as Xyz Materials (as suggested by 'Voltex Curse'). OCG fix by 'Mugendramon'. Thanks!

2 Level 8 Fairy-Type monsters
You can Xyz Summon this card by using monsters from your hand. You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card; draw 3 cards, then discard 2 cards.
When this card leaves the field: You can add 1 Level 8 Fairy-Type monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.

Props for coming up with a card inspired by Graceful Charity, I've been meaning to do that as well, but in the form of a Spell Card. Good art choice, too.

As for the card itself, though, I think it has some issues. First of all OCG is a bit off, but I don't consider myself qualified to fix it, so that's that.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole 4 Level 8 thing. I understand the need to make it a steep cost, but even still, what Fairy deck would run 4 level 8s? Maybe triple Hyperion plus BLS...? And on top of that, it's basically just to get draw power; there's not much synergy with the fairies. And say someone did run a fairy deck with a bunch of 8s; this card would be OP. It's not too hard to get on the field because of the fact that the materials can come from the field, hand, or the Graveyard and then when it arrives, it has 3300 ATK and can't be destroyed by effects. I don't know, its all a bit much to me. I don't see it motivating me or anyone to run fairy bosses.

That all being said, I like the overall idea of the card; Monster version of GC that lets you draw a lot. Maybe in the spirit of ol' Graceful, you could change the card around to include some sort of discarding cost? (Other than the detaching of materials, I mean.)

Keep it up, fellow new member.

Well I have bad news for you; this is broken.

You realize that by allowing Xyz Summons from the grave, you're giving green light to a +1 out of nowhere, on a 3300 body, which is absolutely unaffected by card effects? Granted it ruins your setup, but your opponent will have to sit it out until they can realistically remove it.  ...Or are playing Bujin.

Some serious balancing is required here. Remove the clause that lets you Xyz from Grave. Hand is fine because you need to compromise a lot of resources to get this on the field, but as I said +1ing into this is hideous. Alternatively you could tone down that huge immunity and lower the number of required Mats. I understand Darklords need some love in terms of consistency, so perhaps making a 3000(2700) drawing machine out of two graved Darklords would not be as unthinkable if you were able to at least destroy it or negate it, if not target it?

I don't see it motivating me or anyone to run fairy bosses.

You might want to take a look at Darklords and their friends then;

Thank you very much for the feedback TheStarEnigma!

I'll def try to change the effect to make it more like the good ol' Graceful (sth. like ''draw 1 card; then discard 1 card. After you discarded a card by the effect of this card: You can pay banish 1 monster from your Graveyard; draw 1 card''.). Well, as you've pointed out, 4 Lvl 8 Fairies are a steep cost, even with the possibility of using Material from the Graveyard in mind, so I'll change that, too.

In reference to the 'big' fairies: It is indeed possible to run up to (in total) ten Lvl 7 & 8 fairies in one deck (using Valhalla e.g.) as they give awesome support for each other  B)  They aren't played a lot in this constellation anymore, though...

In addition, I'll also try to fix the OCG of the card. Thanks for the props, mate! I appreciate it.

First of all, I'd like to thank you (Mugendramon) for the feedback and help to get this card fixed. I agree with your argumentation against Xyz Materials from the Graveyard as they're too much of an advantage indeed. I didn't even consider Bujin when making this card; shame on me!

I found the immunity part of the effect to be very 'Graceful Charity'-like, and I don't even know why. On the other hand I think the best part of this card was to be able to use Darklords from the Graveyard, so I'll just exclude those negation- and effect immunities and tone down the Xyz Materials to just 2, making this card a 3000 ATK monster. I also considered changing the effect to ''Detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to draw 3 cards; then discard 2 cards'' (the effect of Graceful Charity).. I don't know if this card would be too powerful with the original 'Graceful Charity' effect, but let's see how I can rework the card to make it a balanced one.

Kudos to both of you for giving such amazing and truly helpful feedback!

2 Level 8 Fairy-Type monsters

You can Xyz Summon this card by using monsters from your hand or Graveyard. This card gains 300 ATK for each Xyz Material attached to it. In either player's Standby Phase: Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and banish the detached card; draw 2 cards, then discard 1 card. When this card leaves the field: Banish it.

Fixed your OCG for what it's worth. Considering you can make this for a +1 already, I think it'd be better to detach both mats for the draw effect. Also of note, the way the effect is worded right now, it's not optional- you have to activate it as soon as you're given a chance to.

Perhaps you should just clock its ATK at 3000 and forget the boost-per-mat thing.

Thanks for your further help!

I didn't even notice that the effect has to be activated when possible. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll change the effect in favor of detaching 2 Materials at once; I'll also clock the ATK at 3000. Thanks for the OCG fix, too!  <_<

Edited; Effect is optional now.

Isn't a free +1 (and a +2 after it uses its effect) beater still busted, even if the deck/archetype intended to use it is not consistent enough?

I would rather have this monster pick Xyz materials from the hand only, and gain a +1 effect when it is summoned that way; it could be either a plain "draw 1 card" or "add 1 Level 8 Fairy-type monster from the deck and/or Graveyard to the hand". After these changes, not only it would be a more balanced +0 Summon, but also would help the deck by fixing hands clogged with Level 8 Fairies. Then, since the card cannot abuse Fairies in the grave anymore, you could remove the "banish the detached cards" effect.

Thanks for your suggestions, Voltex Curse!

First, I especially love 'Celeia' for being able to use monsters from the Graveyard for it's Summon (I used to play a Darklord-themed deck and there just were too many Lvl 8 Fairies on the Graveyard doing nothing  :P ). I also wanted this card to come into play a little later, after 8+ turns or something like that (when some Lvl 8 Fairies were 'used' and the player begins to draw nothing but weak cards which don't help the archetype at all, which seems to occur more often as required in Darklord-themed decks, unfortunately); so basically when the basic strategy of this deck type is exhausted, 'Celeia' would kick in. On the other hand, I see why you think this card is a +2. I'll consider tying the draw effect to a Summon of this card using 2 monsters form the hand (a very good idea indeed - Kristya and Zerato for example sit on the hand unused very often). But then, manipulating the count of Lvl 8 fairies on the GY by using 'Celeia' wouldn't help Kristya anymore... Well, let's see. I can def understand why one would say that this card is still OP, so I may correct some parts of it soon. Thanks again for your analysis, it's very helpful!

I can see this card being abused, imagine summoning two of these on your first turn, and getting two free cards into your hand, then using the effect of some Dark World monster that you sent to the graveyard. You should add "You can only control 1 'Celeia, Winged Goddess of Charity'" or something along those lines.

To be totally fair no, you're not going to run Dark World in a Deck that already runs Darklords. Or Agents for that matter.

Thanks for pointing that out, I agree with you: Dark World can't be run alongside a Darklord deck. Simply not possible. Agents aren't 100% compatible with the strategy behind Celeia, too.

Thanks for the input - but as Mugendramon pointed out, this card wouldn't be abusable by Dark World monster effects simply because two decks cramped together don't work very well in this case.
