Yoshioka Futaba has a few reasons why she wants to "reset" her image & life as a new high school student. Because she's cute, she was ostracized by her female friends in junior high, and because of a misunderstanding, she couldn't get her feeling across to the one boy she has ever liked, Tanaka-kun.

Now in high school, she is determined to be as unladylike as possible so that her friends won't be jealous of her. While living her life this way contentedly, she meets Tanaka-kun again, but he now goes under the name of Mabuchi Kou. He tells her that he felt the same way as she did when they were younger, but now things can never be the same again. Will Futaba be able to continue her love that never even started from three years ago?

Now this is what cliche is made of. Exceptionally well done, however, and there is just a few pieces of uniqueness as far as I know, to really make me look forward to more.

Watched the first episode. Made me angry. Somewhat happy, somewhat depressed about that.

After scrolling through Crunchyroll's comments, it's become apparent that this is going to be an anime that creates a conversation I'm going to get mad about. Specifically arguing the idea that "You shouldn't change to make friends." Most people are arguing that you shouldn't change, ever, to make friends, because friends are only people that like you without changing.

The idea makes a bit of sense, but it implies that people should never change, which is a pretty stupid thing to base an argument without thinking about because it leaves zero room for growth.

Anyway, show is fine, but seriously, fuck the main dude. He may be my least favorite anime cliché.

Well you are right, but considering I make it a point not to look at Crunchyroll's comments, I've only seen one person's opinions, and while Futaba's front was called an "interesting portrayal", he didn't mention what he thought on that matter.

I actually watched it way too late, and after a good deal of time thinking, instead of finding it so spectacular, I actually found it pretty boring. The most interesting thing I found was that her front is the exact opposite as the FeMC from Kare Kano, while being for a very similar reason. It should have all the things I'd like out of it, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

My least favorite cliché (probably not just anime cliché, but something that almost only happens in anime) is more impossible than that. I don't know by how much, but I know it is. It's when boobs go beyond exaggeration. But I'm gonna say I understand, even though I don't, since I'm fine with far more cliches than most people are. Actually I do understand, I don't like him that much.

It's the "fuck everyone else and change who i am because a girl said she hated all guys after I asked her out". Albeit he had other reasons, likely, but if he didn't it's even worse.

I'm just still getting over the fact that the barriers between them are, besides a single sentence, entirely his fault.

I look at Crunchyroll comments to see how the community is viewing something. Sometimes it's funny, a lot of times it can be frustrating (SAO comments are the worst). I wanna make an abridged series where I take every show and put it through "Crunchyroll Vision", where I rewrite the show to be the way the Crunchyroll audience thinks it is. I tried starting with SAO, but it meant I had to write an entirely new show from scratch and I gave up.

Oh okay, so he takes one sentence way too seriously and literally. Yeah, I do that a lot. But only on the interwebs. So it's never that cereal. Because apparently it's not as easy to tell when someone is being sarcastic. So I'm not really like him.

I kind of had the idea, but now that you actually say it, that is pretty much the reason I don't like him either. I think.

  • 2 weeks later...

Show picked up in episode 2-3. Good on them.

I'm not feeling as much clichés as I expected right now, and like... i mean the show feels kinda slow and maybe a bit boring because of it, but it also makes it feel much more realistic, I guess.

It's kinda weird so far.

Still have no idea about the main dude, tho. Still seems like kinda a jackass.
