Normal Monster Archetype Pack - Harbingers of the Colossus

This list of cards is a completely unique archetype whose monsters are almost entirely Normal or non-Effect Synchro monsters called "Harbinger" and "Great Harbinger" respectively.  The main strategy of this archetype revolves around dumping as many non-Effect monsters with different names in your Graveyard as possible to utilize their very powerful "Forerunner" Spell/Trap cards.  A majority of the "Forerunner" cards are basically archetype specific versions of banned cards and require a certain number of non-Effect monsters in your Graveyard.  The "Forerunner" spell cards (except one) have a discard cost while the "Forerunner" trap cards have a banishing cost.  The whole set may serve mostly as a call back to the old nostalgic days of banned cards that many may have used over a decade ago.

Harbinger Minotaur (HOTC-EN001)

This is your typical Level 4 2000 beatstick.  The only difference is this thing actually has DEF, but the difference is negligible.  Alexandrite Dragon or Gene-Warped Warwolf may also be used.

Harbinger Shield (HOTC-EN002)

This is your typical Level 4 high DEF wall.  With 0 ATK, it can be summoned by Box of Friends, Debris Dragon, and so on.

Harbinger Wraith (HOTC-EN003)

This can fulfill a unique role with Mezuki or Zombie Master for Level 5 Synchros because there are currently no Level 1 Zombie-Type Tuners in the actual game.

Harbinger Hippocampus (HOTC-EN004)

This monster has more ATK than any Level 2 or lower Aqua-Type monster in the actual game.

Harbinger Erinyes (HOTC-EN005)

This card's DEF is very high for a Level 4 Tuner.  In addition, there are currently no Level 4 Psychic-Type Tuners in the actual game, so this may fulfill a unique strategy with Overmind Archfiend and/or Psychic Feel Zone.

Harbinger Celestial (HOTC-EN006)

Uhh...  Okay, so there's no real strategy that I can think of with this, but the Harbingers needed a Level 3 monster as well as a Light monster in the archetype, so...  High well-rounded stats for a Level 3...  Yay...

Forerunner Cauldron (HOTC-EN007)

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard: Discard 1 "Harbinger" monster; draw 2 cards.

I'm starting the Forerunner cards off with something that may look familiar.  Anyone following my posts may have seen this card once or twice.  I changed the effect again so it's more like a Trade-In for the archetype rather than a Pot of Greed.  That's because this archetype needs to set up non-Effect monsters in the Graveyard.  Always run 3 of these...

Forerunner Apocalypse (HOTC-EN008)

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard and have 4 or more non-Effect monsters with different names in your Graveyard: Discard 2 Normal monsters from your hand; destroy all cards your opponent controls.

What can I say except Raigeki + Harpie's Feather Duster?  It's nukes your opponent's field, plain and simple, but with its activation requirement, it's a dead card in an opening hand.  Even with the necessary requirement fulfilled, it's a -3 to your hand, so it must be used carefully.

Forerunner Calamus (HOTC-EN009)

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard and have 2 or more non-Effect monsters with different names in your Graveyard: Discard 1 Normal monster from your hand; Special Summon 1 monster from either player's Graveyard.

This is the Monster Reborn of the archetype.  However, if someone intends to revive an opponent's monster, then it's important to remember that almost none of the Forerunner cards can be used with an Effect monster on your side of the field.

Forerunner Reclamation (HOTC-EN010)

Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you may activate 1 of the following effects:
+ Target 1 Normal monster in your Graveyard; return it to your hand.
+ Target 1 of your banished non-Effect monsters; return it to your Graveyard.
If you control a "Great Harbinger" monster, you may activate both effects.

This is the card that lets this archetype maintain its discard costs and Graveyard requirements for a prolonged period of time.  There's no 'You can only control 1 "Forerunner Reclamation".' clause, so having multiple copies can net you some hand advantage over time.  Having 3 of these can easily clog and opening hand, so I suggest running at least 2.  It's also worth pointing out that this is the only Forerunner card that doesn't have any conditions or costs on it.

Forerunner Reclamation (HOTC-EN011)

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard: Discard 1 Normal monster from your hand and target 1 monster your opponent controls; until the End Phase, take control of that target, but it cannot be used as a Synchro Material or Xyz Material of an Effect monster.

This is the Change of Heart of the archetype.  While a monster taken with this card can attack and be tributed, it can't be used as Extra Deck material for an Effect monster.

Forerunner Eradication (HOTC-EN012)

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard: Banish 2 non-Effect monsters with different names from your Graveyard and target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy that target, and if you do, inflict damage to both players equal to that target's ATK.

This is the Ring of Destruction of the archetype.  Keep in mind that unlike the original banned version, this card can only target your opponent's monster and not yours.  It does help against an enemy Antiluminescent Knight though.

Forerunner Retribution (HOTC-EN013)

When a monster would be Summoned, OR a Spell/Trap Card is activated while you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard: Banish 3 non-Effect monsters with different names from your Graveyard; negate the Summon or activation, and if you do, banish that card.

And last, but certainly not least of the Forerunner cards...  This is the SOLEMN JUDGMENT of the archetype!  It's large banish requirement keeps this from being too overpowered.  It's worth pointing out that this card also banishes what it negates and destroys.

Great Harbinger Jackal (HOTC-EN014)

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Since the Forerunner cards are compatible with non-Effect monsters and not simply Normal monsters, this archetype could use its own Synchros.  As a Level 5 2550 beatstick, it's quite splashable in Skill Drain or Tyrant's Throes decks.

Great Harbinger Wyvern (HOTC-EN015)

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Just like the jackal before it, another non-effect Synchro.  At 3250 ATK, it can beat Star Eater.

[spoiler='Boss Monster']

Great Harbinger Cthulhu (HOTC-EN016)

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by having 5 or more "Forerunner" cards with different names in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only control 1 "Great Harbinger Cthulhu". When this card is removed from the field, banish it. This card's ATK and DEF are each equal to the number of non-Effect monsters with different names in your Graveyard x 700. This card gains the following effects based on the number of your non-Effect monsters with different names that are banished.
+ 3 or more: This card cannot be destroyed by card effects.
+ 6 or more: During your End Phase, you can add 1 "Harbinger" or "Forerunner" card from your Deck to your hand.
+ 9 or more: Once per turn, you can activate 1 "Forerunner" card from your hand, ignoring its cost and activation restrictions.

Here's the last Great Harbinger and the Colossus that the rest of the Harbingers revolve around.  This is the boss monster and the only effect monster of the entire archetype.  First of all, it banishes itself when it's removed from the field, so you can still use Forerunner cards after it's gone.  This card is unique because it gains ATK and DEF for every non-Effect monster in your Graveyard, but it gains effects for every one of your banished non-Effect monsters.  By timing the Forerunner traps correctly and banishing monsters from your Graveyard as a cost effect, you can indirectly protect this monster from Dark Hole, Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force, and so on.  The real amazing effect is when you have 9 or more banished non-Effect monsters.  Once per turn under those circumstances, you can activate any Forerunner spell card you want without having to worry about discarding cards or having enough non-Effect monsters in your Graveyard.  In other words, being able to actually use Raigeki or Monster Reborn again!  (Well, at least their counterparts.)  Remember, the effect states that you can activate it from your hand, so you can't activate a Forerunner trap with this effect.  Finally, there's a 'You can only control 1 "Great Harbinger Cthulhu".' clause so you can't just spam multiple of these from your hand for an OTK.

There are 16 cards in this set in all!  Feel free to review!

Sorry this is short but for apocalypse you can't activate it because it needs 3 monsters in grave AND no monsters in grave which is contradictory

If you possess no Effect monsters on your side of the field or in your Graveyard and have 4 or more non-Effect monsters with different names in your Graveyard:
